So the big campaign news this morning is that Obama beat Clinton in second quarter fundraising.  But I can't find any results for Edwards so far.  With his cowardly sneak attack of Ann Coulter and then using the fabricated confrontation as a fund raising vehicle, did it pay off for him?  How much cash did Ann earn for him?

Obama statement on Bush decision to commute Libby’s sentence
July 02, 2007
Barack Obama today released the following statement on President Bush’s
decision to commute the sentence of Scooter Libby.
“This decision to commute the sentence of a man who compromised our
national security cements the legacy of an Administration characterized
by a politics of cynicism and division, one that has consistently
placed itself and its ideology above the law. This is exactly the kind
of politics we must change so we can begin restoring the American
people’s faith in a government that puts the country’s progress ahead
of the bitter partisanship of recent years.”
CRAWFISH NOTE: Hey, BO, where were you when HornDog
gave out 140 pardons late in his term? Wanna go over that list of REAL
criminals? Wanna talk about “that kind of politics”? Explain how
Scooter compromised national security. You won’t because you are a

Is this irony, or is it just me being my normal, pragmatic self, but I can't help but wonder what means of transportation the artists are going to use to get to Gore's concerts this week?  I mean, aren't these bands going to be flying in private jets?  I can just picture it, Red Hot Chili Peppers sitting on the plane, snorting coke and drinking whiskey, being like, 'we're saving the planet man, this is like, revolutionary."

Iran is once again caught aiding in the "civil war" in Iraq. Meanwhile, Iran ignores UN threat #5,213. Perhaps when this happens, it would be a good time to strike?

More bad news from Iraq… a 36% drop in civilian casualties is "slight". Keep telling yourself: the surge is not working, the surge is not working…

Smart

The most brilliant move that President Bush could make right now would be to "strike while the iron is hot". A quick and comprehensive air strike by US Forces against every target rich area of Iran would be the most significant move against middle east threats than anything that we could ever do.

Reasons:

  1. It is brilliant
  2. The left could do nothing about it
  3. Why should he or we care what the left doesn't like anyhow
  4. No remaining middle east nuclear threat would exist
  5. North Korea would not need a laxative
  6. The remaining terrorists in the middle east would all come to the party and we would get it all over with in one fell swoop, WITH THE HELP OF OUR 51st STATE, ISRAEL (and I mean that in a good way).
  7. It would settle the question about whether we should be in Iraq or not
  8. Venezuella would not need a laxative.
  9. I would give a years pay to see the faces of the MSM the next day.
  10. It would be the equivalent of giving the finger to every anti-American in the world, including the few who post on this sacred site.

I talked at length with either Mark or Noel (I cannot remember, sorry guys!) about doing this as a part of NB, but balked for 3 reasons:

1. I enjoy my mysterious "Shrubber" status too much to have to go legit, use my full name, and risk having tards like Montana Lyon find where I live and try to run me down with their 1984 Chevette, Or chain himself to a tree in my front yard.

2. I do this for fun, to give everybody something (hopefully) enjoyable to read.

Rog, Apple makes great prod

Rog, Apple makes great products, but people who know the company like me know that those people waiting in line are what the rest of the industry calls "beta testers." You want to buy the LAST of a product they make, not the first, or at least give 'em some practice! I'm surprised AT&T had activation woes, but it's no shock these phones didn't sell out, and it's guaranteed the things will drastically-improve very soon just because it's Apple. The sad part for geeks like me is that the iPhone development delayed the next Intel chip friendly flavor of MacOS 'till October. Also, I love the fact that the (peaceful, at least from all appearances) anarchist is a postal employee. Delicious.

One of my greatest coups on Apple-timing was having the foresight to buy the VERY LAST (therefore, very-fastest) Apple notebook that could still actually boot-up into OS9 directly. It turns out there were and are so many OS9-addicts with just one program that didn't migrate to OSX that despite abusing the computer for a year and a half, I almost got all my money back out of it! :) It didn't work out quite as well financially, but I also owned the very last PPC-chipped Apple notebook, due to my abject fear of beta-testing their Intel machines for them, but now I finally have one, and I won't have to upgrade it 'till the new OS in October.

Meant to post about the I-pho

Meant to post about the I-phone this weekend. I find it very interesting that given the horrid economy we find ourselves in, (according to liberals and the msm at least), that people are standing in line to give up so much of their hard earned money.

According to an article in the local paper (San Antonio Express News), this phone costs from $499 for 4gb to $599 for 8gb. In addition, you are obligated to a 2 year service commitment. $59.99 a month is the cheapest, up to $219.99 a month for 6000 minutes and unlimited nights and weekends. This is for individual plansl. Family plans run form $80/month to $310/month.

So, if you do the math, based on lowest rates mentioned, this would run you $1,938.76 with a 4gb phone, up to $5,878.76 for the 8gb phone over the next two years. If people are lining up around the block for this phone, then how bad can the economy actually be.

"You will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped, and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944. Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41.

The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeat in open battle man to man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground.

Our home fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men.

The tide has turned.

The free men of the world are marching together to victory. I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty, and skill in battle.

We will accept nothing less than full victory.

Good luck, and let us all beseech the blessings of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking."  General Dwight Eisenhower

And now this from ABC News:A

And now this from ABC News:

A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror "spectacular" this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document.

"This is reminiscent of the warnings and intelligence we were getting in the summer of 2001," the official told ABCNews.com.

Yes, I remember now!  There was a PDB delivered to Bush titled "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the U.S.," that contained ominous threats of an orchestrated hijacking.  Unfortunately for us, the leader of the free world was on a month-long vacation, whacking brush on his so-called ranch.  With this latest dire alarm, does anyone think that Bush won’t take the entire month of August off again?  The answer to the question is simple.  While the people of New Orleans were drowning, Bush was once again on an extended vacation.  What more can we expect from him now?  Sadly, we have learned that Bush doesn’t have the capacity to learn from his mistakes.

I get such a kick when I read

I get such a kick when I read postings criticizing Bush for not taking more action to prevent 9/11.  The very same folks who are calling for the closure of Gitmo, the elimination of phone surveillance, and the elimination of "torture" methods, are the same folks who still claim Bush should have done more before 9/11.

Yes, these are the same folks who, if Bush had listened to the FBI and FAA concerns about Middle Eastern men going to flight schools, and had all these future mass murderers arrested and interogated, would have been scampering about demanding that the government had no right to detain these law-abiding flight students, that Bush had an anti-Muslim mindset, that Bush was just trying to manufacture an incident to get his poll numbers up, and on and on.

So what I would ask you Dave, is to put your laser-sharp 20/20 hindsight aside, and speculate what President Dave would have done to thwart the 9/11 hijackers... while rigorously adhering to the protection of their rights?  Inquiring minds want to know! :)
