June 28, 2007 - 09:51 ET by Clear thinkerI have been listening to the Senate on C-Span and have been insulted so many times by our own Senate that I have lost count.
The only thing the people are asking for is..... Secure our borders first, then come back and discuss other ways to handle immigration. Yes, it's that simple!
I am so pissed at our Senators I am shaking while I type!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly right. Build the fence to keep people that are deported from returning so easily, then we can get serious about reforming immigration.

June 28, 2007 - 10:38 ET by kathleenirishI never thought I would feel so angry and betrayed by Republicans as I have been these last few weeks in regards to their support for this nightmare immigration bill. Secure the borders, idiots. Or, stop talking about the 'war on terror' because if there aren't secure borders, we've lost that one before we ever began.
They (our self-absorbed Congress) really are all elites, looking down on us stupid patriotic Americans who still have some sense of pride in our citizenship. How dare they insult us this way? I understand the traitor media will always have contempt for the backbone of this country, but our so-called friends, too? It will get worse before it gets better, too, unfortunately. These moderate RINOS will lose their elections and get replaced with Democrats! Liberal, wimpy, loser Democrats.
I feel more depressed than I have been in a long time, because even if this terrible bill doesn't become law, the damage from so many sides has been done. We are teetering on the brink of the dam breaking. The late, great United States of America. R.I.P.

June 28, 2007 - 09:56 ET by KC MulvilleJust wondering what juvenile publicity stunt we’ll see today. We had the Coulter ambush a couple days ago. Day before that, we had the high school torture letter. Over the weekend we saw the Cheney archive fracas. George Will calls them “the political class.” Well, they’re squabbling.
I work from home. Now that school has let out, my children are home all day, and with the 90 degree heat the last couple days, they’re all in the house. On top of each other. Competing for the TV. And when I sit my pre-teen children down and warn them that I have work to do, all they can offer is their insistence that their little private battles are vitally important to our home’s justice system.
I can’t help but draw the parallel.

He says, point blank, that "I just really wonder during the last war, what business did it have on the news desk to have the American flag flying in the background...I can understand that for the US-based media to do that, but I really...certainly it was inappropriate for CNN to do it that way."
And then the MSM wonders why many Americans have so little faith in their truthfulness and motives.

Why does it have to be plain and simple? Does the way I wrote it have a different meaning? It doesn't seem that order affects meaning in this situation. And what does phonics have to do with anything? Please indulge me.

Leon Apology
June 28, 2007 - 15:43 ET by LeonDear Newsbusters,
I apologize for unleashing VRWC's sense of humor, which is clearly smothered in cheese. I must admit I'm shocked and chagrined to see the number of other newsbusters that have joined in the supreme lameness. I'm embarassed for all of you.
I was hoping to not have to expose my high level of hipness, but this tragic thread (and VRWC's insane understanding of the functioning of the English language) has required me to do so.
Ah the old simple and plain. While commonly used to refer to fashion (i.e. it's best to wear a watch that is both simple and plain) in recent years these two words in this order have become a staple in the hip hop scene, appearing in songs by hip hop icons, such as Eminem. As such, young, social progressive, scene hopping socialites, like myself have adopted this form of description into our talking style (not to mention that I think it sounds better this way)
I first heard this in a song called confidence by a group called Dilated People and it's stuck ever since. Check it out. Good group, good tune. Their DJ (DJ Babu) is a pioneer in the world of turntables.
I've said this on this site many many many times before, however, we were fortunate in the past that VRWC never read those posts.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you that will be forced to endure the extremely clever joke of switching the placement of two words in the upcoming days and weeks. While it is highly creative, it does run the risk of becoming repetitive. Unfortunately, beating jokes to death seems to be the norm for some on here, so we can only hope this joke dies sooner rather than later.
Again, I am sincerely sorry for showing VRWC's other side, the non-bigoted, extraordinarily corny side. I regret my decision to say simple and plain, and although i will continue to say it this way, I'll be sure to wait until VRWC is protesting soldier's funerals with his God Hates Fags friends, passing out Jesus Saves flyers in front of the Walmart, or screaming about the eternal fires of Hell on some street corner somewhere.
I am deeply sorry. Please accept my heartfelt apology.
Sincerely,
Leon

June 28, 2007 - 18:50 ET by BlondeI suspect after reading today's posts....we're about six weeks beyond the annual "Talk Like a Pirate Day".
Eminem Grammar, Bruce? Isn't that like Helen Keller's secret to speed reading class, or W's guide to articulate public speaking?
