The NAU/SPP is new to me, I have only been on to it for about 3 months. I have read reams of info since then. Hey--the trucks are rolling already--the officials of Kansas City cannot wait to sell the American land to Mexico for the Smartport (The Lazaro Cardenas-Kansas City Corridor or Kansas City SmartPort) plan is well under way.) This will be Mexican land inside the US--just like an Embassy.
I hate to say it, but I think the fight is over. The filthy bastards in the Senate are buying in to this globalization dream. They all will get rich. (Almost all.)

June 27, 2007 - 23:44 ET by misterbillFebruary 23, 2007/Contact Office of Public Affairs (202) 482-4883 "Statement by Ministers Responsibility for the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America "Ottawa - The Leaders of Canada, Mexico and the United States launched the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) to increase security, prosperity, and improve the quality of life for the citizens of each sovereign nation. Last March in Cancun, Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the SPP and identified five priorities: 1) Strengthening Competitiveness through creation of a private sector-led North American Competitiveness Council (NACC), and enhancing regulatory cooperation; 2) Emergency Management; 3) Avian and Pandemic Influenza; 4) Energy Security; and 5) Smart, Secure Borders. "We, the Canadian and United States Ministers responsible for Foreign Affairs, Security and Prosperity, are pleased to welcome our counterparts from the new Government of Mexico. We met today to review progress since the Leaders' meeting in Cancun and are pleased to report that progress has been achieved in a number of areas. "In order to ensure tangible results on the Cancun priorities: "We requested that the trilateral regulatory cooperation framework meant to enhance competitiveness, while maintaining high standards of health and safety be finalized by the next Leaders' Summit. We directed the members of the Coordinating Body to finalize the North American Plan on Avian and Pandemic Influenza by June 2007. We established a senior level coordinating body to prioritize and oversee emergency management activities in the following areas: 1) emergency response, 2) critical infrastructure protection; 3) border resumption in the event of an emergency; and 4) border incident management. We welcomed the progress achieved to date on the Smart, Secure Border agenda, and called upon officials to develop additional recommendations for Leaders in this area. We took note of the progress achieved by Energy Ministers in implementing priorities identified by Leaders in the areas of innovation, energy efficiency and technology development, and energy market facilitation, and look forward to further progress in advance of the Leaders' meeting. "For the next Report to Leaders, we have tasked SPP working groups and coordinators with revitalizing and streamlining their work plans to ensure that initiatives are more focused and results-oriented. We discussed the importance of transparency and communication with stakeholders and the public, and directed officials to expand their efforts in this regard. We also asked officials to pursue greater coordination amongst various working groups and initiatives in recognition that many issues cut across security and prosperity. "We thank the representatives of Canada, Mexico and the United States of the NACC for their dedication and commitment, and for their report on enhancing competitiveness. We note their recommendations in the areas of border crossing facilitation, standards and regulatory cooperation, and energy integration. Our respective governments will review the report and consider carefully its recommendations in preparation for the next Leaders' meeting. We will continue to work with the NACC and other stakeholders as we strive to make North America the safest and best place to live, invest and prosper. "Building on our strong partnership, we recognize the importance of focusing on initiatives that will further competitiveness and quality of life in North America, and will continue to work together to successfully meet the security and prosperity challenges of the 21st century. We will pursue this work to deliver tangible results and a focused agenda to the Leaders at their next meeting in August 2007, in Canada."

June 27, 2007 - 23:52 ET by alamojbIf you live in a small town you may know the Mayor and all the city council members. Go to a little larger town, you may only know a few. As you increase the size of the town and move on up thru states and then National Government, there is less and less of a chance to know those Gov officials or even to get to meet with them face to face. Plus, the larger the system gets, the more voices there are competing against yours, and the more likely the voices that will be heard are those with connections, money or fame.
People complain about lobbyist, but they are the natural outgrowth of having governmet so far from the people. When the U.S was set up, most of the Government decisions were supposed to be at the local and state level. Neither party really supports that now. The Repubs started playing the Dems game.

I have so much material I could post re: NAU/SPP that no one would read that much material. I have spent hours and hours reading at many sites (I am retired.). We are approaching the end of days. The ACLU is destroying us from within and the administration is selling out to the North American Union dream. I encountered a real heartbreaker today in one article . It said it does no good to appeal to a state Governor, they are all memebers of an SPP panel. It suggested that we ned to appeal to our state legislators to kill this NAU/SPP.

I don't know how true--got an email this evening
June 27, 2007 - 23:56 ET by misterbillI don't know how true this is, but someone sent this one to me via email. Either way we need to form our own opinions of the illegals coming
across the border for work and entitlement.
Here is a REAL INTERVIEW with an illegal immigrant at a protest march in Texas and an excellent example of a discussion with a master of circular logic. Don 't be logical, don't respect the truth or your adversary, just say what you think makes a new case when the previous case gets too difficult to defend.
On the streets of downtown Houston , May 1, 2006.
Jim Moore reporting for a Houston TV station:
Jim: Juan, I see that you and thousands of other protesters are marching in the streets to demonstrate for your cause. Exactly what is your cause and what do you expect to accomplish by this protest?
Juan: We want our rights. We will show you how powerful we are. We will bring Houston to its knees!
Jim: What rights?
Juan: Our right to live here...legally. Our right to get all the benefits you get.
Jim: When did you come to the United States ?
Juan: Six years ago. I crossed over the border at night with seven other friends.
Jim: Why did you come?
Juan: For work. I can earn as much in a month as I could in a year in Mexico . Besides, I get free health care, our Mexican children can go to school free, if I lose my job I will get Welfare, and someday I will have the Social Security. Nothing like that in Mexico !
Jim: Did you feel badly about breaking our immigration laws when you came?
Juan: No! Why should I feel bad? I have a right to be here. I have a right to amnesty. I paid lots of money for my Social Security and Green Cards.
Jim: How did you acquire those documents?
Juan: From a guy in Dallas . He charged me a lot of money too.
Jim: Did you know that those documents were forged?
Juan: It is of no matter. I have a right to be here and work.
Jim: What is the "right" you speak of?
Juan: The right of all Aliens. It is found in your Constitution. Read it!
Jim: I have read it, but I do not remember it saying anything about rights for Aliens.
Juan: It is in that part where it says that all men have Alien rights, like the right to pursue happiness. I wasn't happy in Mexico , so I came here.
Jim: I think you are referring to the declaration of Independence and that document speaks to unalienable rights .. Not Alien rights.
Juan: Whatever.
Jim: Since you are demanding to become an American citizen, why then are you carrying a Mexican Flag?
Juan: Because I am Mexican.
Jim: But you said you want to be given amnesty ... to become a US citizen.
Juan: No. This is not what we want. This is our country, a part of Mexico that you Gringos stole from us. We want it returned to its rightful owner.
Jim: Juan, you are standing in Texas . After wining the war with Mexico , Texas became a Republic, and later Texans voted to join the USA . It was not stolen from Mexico .
Juan: That is a Gringo lie. Texas was stolen. So was California , New Mexico and Arizona . It is just like all the other stuff you Gringos steal, like oil and babies. You are a country of thieves.
Jim: Babies? You think we steal babies?
Juan: Sure. Like from Korea and Vietnam and China . I see them all over the place. You let all these foreigners in, but try to keep us Mexicans out. How is this fair?
Jim: So, you really don't want to become an American citizen then.
Juan: I just want my rights! Everyone has a right to live, work, and speak their native language wherever and whenever they please. That's another thing we demand. All signs and official documents should be in Spanish . Teachers must teach in Spanish. Soon, more people here in Houston will speak Spanish than English. It is our right!
Jim: If I were to cross over the border into Mexico without proper documentation, what rights would I have there?
Juan: None. You would probably go to jail, but that's different.
Jim: How is it different? You said everyone has the right to live wherever they please.
Juan: You Gringos are a bunch of land grabbing thieves. Now you want Mexico too? Mexico has its rights. You Gringos have no rights in Mexico . Why would you want to go there anyway? There is no free medical service, schools, or welfare there for foreigners such as you. You cannot even own land in my country. Stay in the country of your birth.
Jim: I can see that there is no way that we can agree on this issue. Thank you for your comments.
Juan: Viva Mexico!!
You will not see this heart-stopping photo on the front page of the NY Times or on the lead story of the major news networks. The protestors put up the Mexican flag over the American flag flying upside down at Montebello High School in California .
Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federal government. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be "redistributed" to the activists while you are so peacefully staying out of the "fray".
Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held their core beliefs and values. One person CAN make a difference. One plus one plus one plus one plus one plus one........
The battle for our secure borders and immigration laws that actually mean something, however, hasn't even begun.

June 29, 2007 - 00:28 ET by Conservative VoiceUnsane, you and I agree on most things. I am for "free trade" but the more I look into it the more I think the government is trying to do things under the radar of the people. You are correct that the people in all three countries would fight this....but the problem is it is being done through free trade agreements. Given the fact that we had to break arms ( not just twist them ) to get Congress to listen to us over the weekend puts the government at a very low point of trust. And on illegal immigration I don't trust President Bush. The Banks want it, corporations want it, and many in government want it. I listen to Glenn Beck, who I trust...and he agrees that there is something to this.

I have tried mightily to avoid this entire NAU subject, as I had pretty much dissmissed it as nothing more than conspiracy kookery, but the evidence is beginning to pile up that there may be more to this than we may have thought. What else is there to explain GWB's near rabid support for the scamnesty bill, despite its obvious danger to the near-term future of our country.
And it ain't just Glenn Beck, either.

Again
June 29, 2007 - 06:09 ET by Unsane...in the rush to make this a mad conspiracy theory, one forgets some key things:
1) Canada centers its entire identity on "not being American".
2) Someone MIGHT want to make a phone call to Ottawa concerning this so-called scheme.
3) Someone also MIGHT want to call Mexico City and include Calderon on this.
4) Last time I checked, Bush will not be in office in 2010, the year we are just supposed to wake up and find ourselves in this evil "NAU" by some magic spell.
The reasons for this non-handling of the illegal immigration issue? Simple.
1) Voter apathy (though, with the bill dead, I think the voters have woken the hell up. Now, time to demand REAL reform!)
2) The Republicans and Dems both a) do not want to offend a block of voters, and b) want to woo that block of voters. (This also explains why one of my favorite ideas, English as the official language of all government business, will never get anywhere, sadly.)
3) Some are afflicted with pasty guilt.

June 29, 2007 - 06:37 ET by sarcasmoI'd add a hidden "4." to your illegals-list. It keeps demand up for dollars, and (like the massive efficiency vs old hardware stores of Wal-Mart) that fact, in subtle ways, tends to mask dollar inflation. Think about it, each illegal they let-in individually instantly creates a bunch more demand for USD which wasn't there before, and I can say from personal experience that trying to horn in on the remittance-market results in legal attack because some of the high fees illegals and legals pay on remittance/transfers buy US politicians, IMO.

Look, your stupid drugwar has been getting more expensive to taxpayers since Tricky Dick first declared it, and like Tricky's EPA, it needs to go away and cease to exist. You need to come around on smaller government in that sense, and nothing you've said has anything to do with my reading comprehension. The countries that have decriminalized drugs all have some commonalities:

2) All are Going Nowhere.
Say, if you take a glance at this week's edition of The Economist, you can read all about a boom town in Alberta that has some citizens who will be at odds with your happy-go-lucky attitude towards drugs. But as it runs counter to your religious dogma, here's betting you won't bother reading it.

That's why you didn't want to admit it and instead wanted to accuse me of being "a sheriff" despite the fact that all I'm armed-with is words and a keyboard. I would link to The Economist, but as large swathes of the site charge fees, I will not link there. But, the next time I have the article close-at-hand, I will quote for you. Now, don't throw a temper tantrum like shawn228 did. There IS an alternative. Either hit a library for a copy, or go to Barnes and Noble, and read a few articles. How do you think I manage to get the occasional swipe at Reason without paying for it?

June 30, 2007 - 23:24 ET by UnsaneWorking at night complicates things. Hence the technical diffiulties. Yes, even sleep is prioritized over NB.
I don't think a medical plan that is funded by stealing from others as a base is a good plan. If the Leftists are all upset that people (some of whom purposely mismanage money of their own freewill, shockingly) can't afford medical coverage, then why do they whine and cry to the government FIRST, instead of maybe putting together a private charitable organization that covers the medical bills of various people? (Amazingly, that can still in fact be done.)

June 30, 2007 - 23:49 ET by shawn228Sorry about the lack of sleep Unsane. NB can be a really exausting habit huh? I know my better half thinks I spend way too much time on the computer.
Like I said I want quality medical for every man woman and child. IMO, I will not budge. Right now even with all their problems. what they have in terms of medical is way better than ours. And no Unsane, I do not want to move away because I like one thing better about Canada than the USA.
What they have in terms of me
July 1, 2007 - 00:56 ET by UnsaneWhat they have in terms of medical CAN'T be any better than ours. (Besides, if the Canadians were happy with it, explain the Romanow report.) In fact I have demonstrated time and time again how it is worse. For some reason, Canadians still swing south of the border for medical treatments with money they have saved up. Out of 100+ years of Nobel Prizes for medicine, thus far in an admittedly cursory glance, I located ONE Canadian to stack up against the scores of Americans who have won it.
Yeah, the Canadians invented insulin, but the United States produced the artificial heart, the polio vaccine, and numerous other medical advances. More are happening just down the road from me here in Houston at its massive medical center. Were/are these innovations and inventions done out of the pure kindness of their hearts? No, for doctors do in fact need to eat.
Looking back at my pneumonia, I am much happier knowing that I was treated immediately with the slapping down of my credit card and medical insurance information, and with the payment to the nearest pharmacist of a bank-breaking $4, for immediate treatment in the world's most advanced medical system, rather than have to sit around and wait in pain for hours and hours because three hundred people are ahead of me to get their paper cuts and sniffles cured, all because IT IS "FREE"!!!

July 1, 2007 - 01:11 ET by shawn228Yes, many come across the border to have surguries. We have the best doctors in the world because all real skilled workers live here because they can earn more in their profession. The Dr's in Canada are not that shabby, I have never heard of one case even close to Walter Reed style of care you compare it to to. They wait longer for surguries, but few die because of it.

Come on Unsane, it seems everybody has a alter ego. The character you would create is the executive that has a lot of money because of his inventions . You haveprotect other workers from bullies, but you never let them forget they owe you something. If someone has a dissenting point of view, that worker is a traitor that should be fired. The companys you deal with that supply you with fuel and equipment are worthless and going nowhere because they depend on you for protecting them from the neighborhood bully.

July 1, 2007 - 01:18 ET by Carl KolchakI don't think this chaplain was interviewed by the MSM. Here is a link from Snopes who I believe is very non biased. This is his view of Walter Reed as someone who has been at Walter Reed for a long time. I don't believe he was interviewed by the MSM.

Karl I am only using Walter Reed as one example. There are very sad medical storys right now that have happenned to lots of good people.I just believe what they have in Canada for medical is better than our system. Although I concede with paying for 2 wars and a 9 trillion national debt, it is easier said than done.

July 2, 2007 - 06:24 ET by UnsaneCanada has this GREAT medical system, yet they have done virtually NOTHING to advance the frontiers of medical science in decades.
Personally, I don't think you should ever whine about the national debt ever again while in the same breath you demand the government nationalize 14-15% of the economy of the United States. It isn't working out very well for Britain either. The NHS's budget is larger than the budgets of every nation on earth, except the top ten, and THAT is to pamper and nanny 60 million people who can really manage to get their own freakin doctors!
What's next, shawn? You gonna steal from me, via government, to pay for your gas and utilities? Your groceries even?

Keeps me on my toes. I react by working harder, and, because they are a good employer, I seek out opportunities for them.
"The companys you deal with that supply you with fuel and equipment" that we can just as easily get from elsewhere "are worthless and going nowhere" because of their coddling, nannying policies to their least productive citizens, and their refusal to allow society to be dynamic, and their desire to have the government have complete control of as much of life as possible "because they depend on you for protecting them from the neighborhood bully" and do very little to contribute to that protection...well, at least PM Harper decided to upgrade their Forces by ordering 8 C-17s.

July 1, 2007 - 01:51 ET by shawn228You are doing the best you can for your stockholders but what you fail to mention is the the person whos job you took over made the company money. When you took over you made things look great on the outside but you have borrowed so much money from the bank that you have to borrow more from the companies with no future.
Getting off the topic about your alter ego for a moment.
"The companys you deal with that supply you with fuel and equipment" that we can just as easily get from elsewhere
Ok Unsane. You also said since we get out goods easily from elsewhere and you also stated since we get our oil from other places except for the middle east they cannot use oil as weapon. Well Unsane oil is not about $70.00 a barrel. We attacked Iran tomorrow. OPEC shoots oil past 125 a a barrell. Will the Canadians which you get most of your oil from sell you that oil for 70.00 a barrell? And who would you buy oil from if not from Canada? Since you know, they can find it so easily elsewhere.
Why, there is a big, fat sour
July 2, 2007 - 06:33 ET by UnsaneWhy, there is a big, fat source of oil much closer. Why do you think that Houston is the world capital of the oil business? Not only do WE have oil, but so does Mexico (and the Gulf of Mexico), and points south. So does Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, and so on.
Getting oil from the tar sands can be a real bitch. The oil companies are looking at getting a nuclear reactor going to power the process because they anticipate it only getting trickier as time wears on (this from CBC, of all places).
We don't have to buy much of anything from Canada. Ask the cattle ranchers up north what happened when one of their cows was reported having BSE.
"When you took over you made things look great on the outside but you have borrowed so much money from the bank that you have to borrow more from the companies with no future" all the while dealing with whiny children who, at the exact same time they bitch, scream, cry and whine about the debt, they DEMAND MORE AND MORE AND MORE GOODIES from the government, which...surprise!!!...only raises the debt!
When are you going to resolve that contradiction? Or perhaps youi are afflicted with innocent guilt (h/t to Meshuggah, "In Death - Is Life")?

July 2, 2007 - 23:59 ET by shawn228Hmmmmm, well the Toronto won the world series in the nineties two
years in a row, but most of the players were American. Vice versa here.
Houston might be the leader in world business for oil, but how much of
it comes from the USA? Here is the top 5 places we get oil from
Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Venezuala, and Nigeria
Yes, i remember the BDS scare as well. That is a very small part of USA's trad with Canada. You are seriously disillusioned,
if you think we can make up 560 billion dollars worth of trade every
year to Canada with other countries very easily. We get more oil and
electricity from them than any other country. So If we did not get it from Canada, we can easily get it from Mexico? From Hugo Chavez? Sorry Unsane, I find that very hard to believe. If oil was in such plentiful supply it would not be at over $70.00 a barrell.
I never
contradicted myself at all. I said I believe Canada has a better
medical system than ours. I believe I also said to Carl that when we
are fighting two wars and a 9 trillion dollar debt, it is no easy feat.
Both
you and Mene Gene have said you cannot use oil as weapon because we
import oil fairly little oil from the middle east "even though Saudi
Arabia is #3". You still have never answered my question. If something
happenned like, the insurgents in Iraq blew up 3-4 major pipelines in
the middle east. OPEC raises the price of oil from 75 to 125.00 a
barrell. Would Canada, Mexico sell us that same barrell of oil for
the $75?. Oh and as for your Spurs, guess who invented basketball? Oh and the Blackberry.
Oh, you mean who STOLE the id
July 3, 2007 - 05:44 ET by UnsaneOh, you mean who STOLE the idea for the Blackberry from a VA company? Nice to see you finally acknowledged that I pointed out where James Naismith was from. Interestingly, though, the game was invented in Springfield, MA. Why not some town in Ontario or New Brunswick?
Believe all you want, as dogmatically as possible, that Canada has a better health care system than the United States...I just got done glancing over an article that shows that if you REALLY want the U.S. medical system to improve...you might want to...(GASP!!!)...get government OUT of the system as much as possible (horrors!!!). Besides, the United States is where it's at when it comes to advancing the frontiers of medical science. Come on down to Houston and take a spin through the Medical Center for a small taste of it.
I did answer your question, you simply don't like the answer. Canada is not the only nation in the world that supplies the United States oil and power. And where do you think the bump in the loonie is coming from, anyways (although if the loonie rises much further, Canada gets to taste the joys of "Dutch disease")?
The sad fact is that Canada needs the United States much more than the United States needs them. The United States' market of 300 million will always overshadow a nation that is roughly 1/10th the size in terms of population, especially when Canada is getting left in the dust by the United States just in terms of purchasing power (Canadians made C$1800 less than Americans in 1981 but C$7200 less in 2005), making it a more attractive market and a place to do business.

July 4, 2007 - 07:38 ET by shawn228OPEC helps determine the price of oil by saying how much oil should be pumped and sold in the Middle East. They cannot raise the price, I'm pretty sure you know what I meant, you ar nitpicking my words so you can duck my question. If insurgents attacked majoir pipelines in the ME it would raise the price of oil dramatically would it not?
You remember the last energy crises in 1973 don't you? That happenned because OPEC did not want to ship oil to countries supporting Israel in the October war. It increased the price of oil 4 fold. If that is not using oil as a weapon, I don't know what is.
