I have seen little, if any, press coverage of Senator Obama's recent appearance before (I think) the United Church of Christ convention. He proceeded to SLAM Evangelicals for what he called the hi-jacking of religion. He went on to say that the only thing that they care about is dispariging gays, gay marriage, and the right to choose. He accused Evangelicals of not caring about anything but tax cuts for the rich.
I am not shocked by his positions, I expected it. I am not shocked by the invitation he recieved from the United Church of Christ to speak there. It is common knowledge that the United Church of Christ is one of the most liberal organizations in the nation.
It also does not shock me at the total lack of media coverage over this. I expected it and it enrages me.
I can't believe Obama says those things. Isn't the POTUS supposed to govern all types of people? A huge number of evangelicals are black. Does he think that he automatically gets their vote?

Was anyone watching Fox News today, around 10:25am this morning. Something called Helens Court (or some such) was on, and they had a discussion of the girl's chastiy suit. She wants to wear a bracelet; the school rejects it based upon religion intolerance, even though muslim girls are allowed to wear headscarfs as part of their religion. IMO, another straight-forward example of selective bias against the religious basis of the US, masqueraded as a "consititutional separation" argument.
Well, they had this woman on providing arguments in favor of the ban. Here's what she said, believe it or not: "We have to have such bans. Suppose another pop-up religion surfaces next week, and they say they have to wear bracelets of naked women. How could we, if we want to be fair, reject that if we now give in to Christianity"?
Another pop-up religion? What an ass. Here we go again -- selective moral equivalency. I like how they use moral equivalency in these situations; yet reject moral equivalency whenever someone brings up the argument about homosexual marriage: "If men are allowed to marry men, what's to prevent three people from marrying each other"? This is always dismissed as nonsense by the radical left fringe -- yet, "pop-up" religions are always a legitimate concern.

I would also like to ask why the bracelet was identified as a specifically religious statement. Did it include reference to Jesus? Or was it just about chastity?
I agree that if a Muslim girl is allowed to wear her head covering in school, then a Christian girl should be allowed to wear a bracelet which signifies her religious beliefs. I suppose one could argue that it's a matter of "a requirement of the faith" (like the footbaths) as opposed to something that is a voluntary statement (such as the bracelet). Are Christian students in this school permitted to wear crosses?
I agree that there are "pop-up" religions that often focus their beliefs on single issues. But this is no excuse for discriminating against any religion. Of course, you must admit that it can get sticky if someone decides to wear a shirt or jewelry that espouses a particular prejudice against one group or another based on religious tenets. For instance, surely no school would allow a Muslim student to wear a shirt or jewelry espousing "beheading the infidels". If an expression of one's religious faith is respectful and shows no hatred or prejudice toward others, then it should be permitted. And if the grown-ups in any school don't have enough good judgment and common sense to tell the difference, then they shouldn't be teaching or administering in the public schools of America.

I finished another mediocre and cliched book last night - Deception Point by Dan Brown, he of The DaVinci Code (it was loaned to me). It had all the usual cliches - a beautiful, brilliant, (and liberal) heroine, a handsome - yet lonely - widower hero, a dorky, yet loveable, scientist sidekick, some evil Delta Force soldiers bent on killing the afore mentioned, a noble, kindly, and grandfatherly Democrat president, and - you guessed it - an evil, greedy, and corrupt conservative Republican US senator running for the presidency - and southern to boot! We discuss here the liberal biases in the movies. I'd submit that popular fiction books are even more rife with it - and they put out a lot more books than movies. You'd think that, just to be different, some author would avoid these liberal cliches, but it doesn't happen often.

Earlier this decade, I found myself doing a great deal of air travel. I noticed that anytime I was on a plane or in an airport, at least 1/3 to 1/2 of passengers had copies of one of his books, especially The DaVinci Code. And that, as snooty as it sounds, was enough for me.

I haven't listened to Kudlow for years now...I used to catch him now and then on cnbc on some show early afternoon, before Kudlow and Kramer....so you answered my wonders about him.
A $25,000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the May murder of a couple and their 15-year-old son in Lancaster, PA (about 5 miles south of the Hero Squad estate.)
After a fruitless month-long investigation the 15-year-old killer was arrested last week and charged thanks to information provided by a citizen. The caveat: The person who provided the information was the killer's father.
Now I would hope the father would do something honorable and give at least a fair portion back to the family (one daughter in the home fled for her life and was unhurt.) But few things in life have to be more difficult in turning in your child to the authorities, knowing that will likely be the last time someone you raised will be free, while wondering where you went wrong.
This kid had authorities stumped for a month. Only because the kid (who lived about a half mile away from the murder scene and had been interviewed by police) broke down and became suicidal did he reveal that he was the killer. That's kinda scary.

Understood MikeB. But to answer your question, I care. Thats why I asked. In reading the stories about the killings, no motive has been offered yet. Hero seems like he is a local, so I thout he might have some inside info.
Police haven't yet released a motive as to why he did it. Thus far, they've said it was premeditated, and that he initially went to the house to suffocate the son. The two were friends, but apparently had a falling out (over a girl?). As to how it became a triple homicide involving a knife has not been released to the public.
Theories ran rampant during the month this was unsolved. Some Nancy Grace wannabes actually thought it was the daughter (who had returned from college the day before), while others thought it was some random gang hit. I thought it probably either a kid the son knew from school (which it was), or someone that had followed the daughter home.
Here is a great link for anybody to keep or check out when a vote takes place, and who voted which way, which they post that info after about a half hour of the vote, the vote total is almost always posted pretty quickly afterward the vote is done.
This is important between now and Thursday on the next Cloture vote on the illegal immigration bill if you want to contact anyone in your state or elsewhere.
The Dems will do anything to try and ruin this Administration.

I opened my morning mostly leftist rag newpaper (The Frederick News Post- Frederick Maryland) this morning and read the following headline: "Roberts steers high court to right" (I could find it only in the print edition not online). I was livid. Isn't this an editorial opinion and not a news headline? I immediately dashed off a letter to the editor stating that maybe tomorrow's headline should read "Ginsburg steers high court to left" and that editorial comments and opinions shouldn't be disguised as news but labeled as such. One thing I noticed was that the story was picked up not from the AP but from the McClatchy Newspapers. The Frederick News post has just recently been using this news org as a source for news and articles from editorial commentators. I did notice that all the editorial commentary from McClatchy is very liberal left wing slanted in their point of view (more so than most). I even mentioned this in my editorial (which they called and said they were going to publish) I never heard of this organisation. Does anyone have info on them so I can refute the libs when they howl at me when my editorial is published.
Anyone see a story on one of the AM shows (don't remember which one - they're pretty much all the same) that asserted that murder was the #2 cause of death for pregnant women? I'm sickened that it would even be statistically significant, but somewhat skeptical of the numbers. I would like to see how data was gathered, what was inclusion/exclusion criteria, and who financed the study. It sounds suspicious enough to be like another "Superbowl Sunday" hoax that asserted that DV goes up when the Big Game is on. That's an easily disproved urban legend.

BT-- I am a little down--but I will continue also. I went to an immigration debate last night. 4 panelists. One police captain to address any issues re: immigration and local police enforcement. One lawyer--his name could have been Tumbler--started out quoting scripture , then how he was not in favor of illegal entry but how someone had to defend the rights of veryone even "undocumented workers". The 3rd member was actually a member of the Fairtax of America group. He passed on some of the questions, but he firmly stated that we had laws in place that our officials refused to enforceregarding illegale ntry and that he was quite upset about it. The 4th was a fellow named DA King. He is a columnist for the Marietta Journal and the founder of the "Dusty Inman Society". Dusty Inman was a teenaged boy who was killed by a drunk driver who was in the country illegally. DA King is a longtime family friend. He founded the society in hopes of having our existing laws enforced. Cut to the chase now- --DA King came out a big winner. The lawyer kept throwing out platitudes. The majority in the hall were for enforcing the laws that already exist. I keep saying this--there must be a smart lawyer in this country who can bring suit against lax officials who will not uphold and enforce our laws. Pray God it happens.
I'm hoping the people of this great country finally come together on this one issue and physically toss out any politician that signs on to any illegals bill that includes any form of amnesty or rewarding those that break our laws.
Here's a kicker. Because of one part of the bill, any legal alien doing farm work in NC will get an immediate cut in pay if this bill passes. They (the ones doing it the legal and correct way) will have their pay cut by almost $2 dollars per hour. How come La Raza ain't raising hell about this?

Something called Helens Court (or some such) was on, and they had a discussion of the girl's chastiy suit. She wants to wear a bracelet; the school rejects it based upon religion intolerance, even though muslim girls are allowed to wear headscarfs as part of their religion. IMO, another straight-forward example of selective bias against the religious basis of the US, masqueraded as a "consititutional separation" argument.
Well, they had this woman on providing arguments in favor of the ban. Here's what she said, believe it or not: "We have to have such bans. Suppose another pop-up religion surfaces next week, and they say they have to wear bracelets of naked women. How could we, if we want to be fair, reject that if we now give in to Christianity"?
Another pop-up religion? What an ass. Here we go again -- selective moral equivalency. I like how they use moral equivalency in these situations; yet reject moral equivalency whenever someone brings up the argument about homosexual marriage: "If men are allowed to marry men, what's to prevent three people from marrying each other"? This is always dismissed as nonsense by the radical left fringe -- yet, "pop-up" religions are always a legitimate concern.

I would also like to ask why the bracelet was identified as a specifically religious statement. Did it include reference to Jesus? Or was it just about chastity?
I agree that if a Muslim girl is allowed to wear her head covering in school, then a Christian girl should be allowed to wear a bracelet which signifies her religious beliefs. I suppose one could argue that it's a matter of "a requirement of the faith" (like the footbaths) as opposed to something that is a voluntary statement (such as the bracelet). Are Christian students in this school permitted to wear crosses?
I agree that there are "pop-up" religions that often focus their beliefs on single issues. But this is no excuse for discriminating against any religion. Of course, you must admit that it can get sticky if someone decides to wear a shirt or jewelry that espouses a particular prejudice against one group or another based on religious tenets. For instance, surely no school would allow a Muslim student to wear a shirt or jewelry espousing "beheading the infidels". If an expression of one's religious faith is respectful and shows no hatred or prejudice toward others, then it should be permitted. And if the grown-ups in any school don't have enough good judgment and common sense to tell the difference, then they shouldn't be teaching or administering in the public schools of America.

After a fruitless month-long investigation the 15-year-old killer was arrested last week and charged thanks to information provided by a citizen. The caveat: The person who provided the information was the killer's father.
So the question posed in our local newspaper (one that actually swings right, and where HS once interned) is, "Should the dad get the reward?"

But few things in life have to be more difficult in turning in your child to the authorities, knowing that will likely be the last time someone you raised will be free, while wondering where you went wrong.
This kid had authorities stumped for a month. Only because the kid (who lived about a half mile away from the murder scene and had been interviewed by police) broke down and became suicidal did he reveal that he was the killer. That's kinda scary.

Thus far, they've said it was premeditated, and that he initially went to the house to suffocate the son. The two were friends, but apparently had a falling out (over a girl?). As to how it became a triple homicide involving a knife has not been released to the public.
Theories ran rampant during the month this was unsolved. Some Nancy Grace wannabes actually thought it was the daughter (who had returned from college the day before), while others thought it was some random gang hit. I thought it probably either a kid the son knew from school (which it was), or someone that had followed the daughter home.

One thing I noticed was that the story was picked up not from the AP but from the McClatchy Newspapers. The Frederick News post has just recently been using this news org as a source for news and articles from editorial commentators. I did notice that all the editorial commentary from McClatchy is very liberal left wing slanted in their point of view (more so than most). I even mentioned this in my editorial (which they called and said they were going to publish) I never heard of this organisation. Does anyone have info on them so I can refute the libs when they howl at me when my editorial is published.

When the NAU/SPP and the padrone system are firmly embedded in this continent, the USA will cease to exist. My belief , all along is, this is why there is no USA in Revelations. GW Bush is destroying the greatest, most unique republic in known history. When all of the elected officals of this country are of the same ethnicity and the customs and habits of centuries of other countries are imposed on America- we will be running and hiding. It will be the beginning of the end of days. And our friendly businessman who is enjoying greater profits by exploiting the lower wages of an almost imprisoned slave population will smile all the way to the bank as American born and bred citizens have no jobs.

I am not going to get any further down tonight if possible....took me long enough to get unmad from this morning, been cleaning like heck in between things here...
I will continue the fight, and I hope all people who care will too.
Time will tell misterb...soon enough.

One police captain to address any issues re: immigration and local police enforcement. One lawyer--his name could have been Tumbler--started out quoting scripture , then how he was not in favor of illegal entry but how someone had to defend the rights of veryone even "undocumented workers". The 3rd member was actually a member of the Fairtax of America group. He passed on some of the questions, but he firmly stated that we had laws in place that our officials refused to enforceregarding illegale ntry and that he was quite upset about it. The 4th was a fellow named DA King. He is a columnist for the Marietta Journal and the founder of the "Dusty Inman Society". Dusty Inman was a teenaged boy who was killed by a drunk driver who was in the country illegally. DA King is a longtime family friend. He founded the society in hopes of having our existing laws enforced. Cut to the chase now- --DA King came out a big winner. The lawyer kept throwing out platitudes. The majority in the hall were for enforcing the laws that already exist. I keep saying this--there must be a smart lawyer in this country who can bring suit against lax officials who will not uphold and enforce our laws. Pray God it happens.

Here's a kicker. Because of one part of the bill, any legal alien doing farm work in NC will get an immediate cut in pay if this bill passes. They (the ones doing it the legal and correct way) will have their pay cut by almost $2 dollars per hour. How come La Raza ain't raising hell about this?

American people are outraged alright, the media is even helping to an extent on some shows with this attention for a change without politicians on some of these talking head shows.
I was surprised at Anderson Cooper's report tonight on this.
Lou Dobbs is going to be on C-Span soon about this subject at the National Press club I think I heard...I'm going to try and catch it.
