CBS legal analyst Andrew Cohen found the rulings from the Supreme Court today to be a boon for conservatives, but he couldn't resist hinting about his personal opinions about those cases. He didn't seem to agree with any of them. (emphasis mine):
Conservatives go 4-4 today at the Supreme Court
Let's stay with our baseball theme today.
Legal and political conservatives hit for the cycle Monday morning when they "won" four long-awaited rulings from the United States Supreme Court. The Justices further chipped away at the wall that separates church and state, took some of the steam out of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law, neutered federal regulators in environmental cases to the benefit of developers and slammed a high school kid who had the temerity to put up a silly sign near his high school.
Of course, given Cohen's track record of liberal bias, that's not too surprising. That being said, Cohen is right about the larger point. The president has helped shift the Court to the right with his judicial appointments. It's just a shame he substituted his personal opinion about the merits of the decisions rather than explained the issues in broader detail:
People can and do and will disagree about the "correctness" of these rulings-- but no one should have any doubt now that President George W. Bush's campaign promise-- to take the Supreme Court to the right-- has been fulfilled. That question is no longer open to argument and you need only to take a few minutes to read today's rulings to understand why.

Conservative Court
June 25, 2007 - 17:13 ET by allanfYes the first amendment is a really conservative idea now. Liberals are pressing for a "fairness doctrine" aimed at opinion speech. Diane Feinstein, Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer have all been heard complaining about talk radio and urging something be done.
Yes apparently the first amendment is a conservative idea. So when the Supreme Court 5-4 upholds the right of people to express political opinions within days of an election liberals will of course be disturbed. After all the only opinionating should be by acceptable news media types such as Chris Cuomo, Andrea Mitchell, Tim Russert, Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.
The Court now has four solid members who believe in the constitution, two extreme liberals appointed by Republican (Souter and Stevens) and a judge appointed by Reagan (Kennedy) who can be swayed be the powerful intellect of Roberts.

One of the most important things to me for the my vote for the next President is how he/she would appoint SC Judges.
The other is National Security...our borders here and the war on terror world-wide.
Ken S....do you happen to have the link to the enviro federal regulators?
(which tickles me to no end...lol) thanks if you do..if not I will look soon.

ROFL!
Btw...I thank President Bush for these SC Judges...and the fight in the Senate, but that is another story.

The wall is untouched
June 25, 2007 - 20:29 ET by nkviking75"The Justices further chipped away at the wall that separates church and state..."
In reality, the Court ruled that the people who brought the suit in question didn't have standing to sue. That's what's known as a technicality. I'll pass on rehashing the fallacy of the "separation of church and state" as a Constitutional concept, and simply point out that a ruling of this type really doesn't affect the "wall". If you don't have standing to sue, the court won't consider your case.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

The First Amendment really
June 26, 2007 - 01:58 ET by daveinbocaThe First Amendment really seems to stick in the Democrat craw---they prefer advocacy media in the national subsidized farce called PBS and its left-tilted TV News/NPR radio. Luckily no one watches [except myself and many leftardos] this taxpayer boondoggle that promotes a far-left agenda while belittling conservatism and traditional values.
