AP's David Bauder interviewed disgraced Bush-hating ex-CBS anchor Dan Rather, and includes this fun fact about his current HDNet digs: "Two former CBS News producers run the 'Dan Rather Reports' staff with their boss. Their office a few steps away from Times Square -- Rather critics will love this -- is located in the Bush Building."
At Human Events, Chris Plante has a funny take on CBS's answers to Dan Rather's attack on soft-soap Katie Couric and the supposed sexism that's causing her low ratings:
Maybe if Katie delivered the news in a white, embroidered apron from a studio decorated like a 1950’s kitchen we’d all tune in. She could open the broadcast with a nicely browned turkey on a platter, placing it gingerly on a French country table with lace doilies and then spend 30 minutes lying to us. The CBS Evening News with Barbara Billingsley.
In the mind of the American liberal, (read: news executive) their decisions and their world-view are necessarily "correct." They are without flaw. They are infallible. Their decision to put Couric in "the chair" was a brilliant decision, and it was a feminist decision. Therefore, if the public fails to flock to Couric’s turned heel in the hope of touching the hem of her garment, there can only be one explanation. Americans in "the fly-over states" are not as enlightened as the Manhattan media magnates who convey their version of "the truth" to America every night.
If Couric were "a person of color" and the ratings didn’t roll in, then Americans invariably would be labeled as "racist."

You summed it up perfectly Tim.
It is always something or someone other than the person or people responsible for their actions/ratings/downfall....
....always....
Just ask AirAmerika.....
If you are a leftist...nothing to worry about, you are a victim, and somebody will always bail you out, especially the govt. which means all of us tax-payers of course...then there is always those like Soros and ilk....as long as it fits their goal to achieve their agenda.

If Katie were a "Person of Interest" (whatever the heck that means)....her ratings might be better.

June 18, 2007 - 19:38 ET by Lame CherryChris Plante hit a home run with his analysis of Les Moonves leading the liberals of CBS in blaming others for their idiot decisions. It goes beyond all of this in liberals just have to label everyone who disagrees with them and not able or capable to win the debate has to degrade them with that label.
A quick flick through liberals archives has Mario Cuomo calling Pat Buchanan a nazi, Bryant Gumble calling a Conservative a "f**king idiot" and repeating it on Regis and Kelly, the sodomite lobby naming everyone who believes homosexuals need help instead of enabling a "homophobe" to lastest champion of liberalism, Rose O'Donnell, attempting to slap around Elisabeth Hasselbeck at "that poor Christian".
I have written extensively that the reason David Letterman has Al Franken on spewing hate is because all of these execs who hire Letterman all talk about the same racist, bigotry and hatred at all their cocktail parties.
I will bet an Indian nickel for liberal racist sake that every Conservative on this site when they see Condi Rice, Paul Wolfowitz or Mitt Romney they are listening to them first and not seeing them at all. Liberals immediately think demographic and see a Black, a neocon (which is a racist slur) and a Mormon.
The reason I will bet this is because last year in watching NFL football two of my favorite coaches in Tony Dungee and Lovey Smith were in the Super Bowl. It never registers with me they are black, but the reason I bring it up is because the network execs and their minions could do nothing but focus on 2 Black coaches.
The wonderful part was Mr. Dungee and Mr. Smith while stating they had a duty to help others up were not in the least focused on being Black.
The biggest racists, bigots and phobes exist in the ivory towers of the media. The one thing I would just love is for several wanna be reporters to go into these big shot's cocktail parties with mini cams and give the world a real view of the conversations which go on, because if they are spewing this kind of sugar coated hatred in blaming others in public you know what kind of Rosie they are spewing over drinks.
Rosie was saying exactly what these liberals say and that is why she was hired in the first place.

June 19, 2007 - 00:47 ET by Cool ArrowThe gratuitous gushing over two Black coaches was a not so subliminal reminder to the coaches "Hey, remember us? we're the MSM. You wouldn't be here at all if we hadn't toiled endlessly championing the cause of the downtrodden Black athlete. Could you just say a few words about how grateful you are for our success?"

June 18, 2007 - 21:40 ET by mawendthey, as offensive as it is, Couric could only raise ratings (for very short time, anyway) if she began doing the news in a tini bikini, or topless.
but then CBS ratings might nose dive even worse...
truth is, after all the flash and splash wears off, it is content that rules. which is what the broadcast and cable news ratings reflect. but since sex sells, its eaither get dirty or get some content. maw
