How do you spell hypocrite? Apparently it's J-O-L-I-E as the puff-lipped actress proves by banning Fox News from being permitted to interview her to promote her new role as the wife of martyred reporter Daniel Pearl in the upcoming movie "A Mighty Heart." As Jolie touts press freedom, her newest pet cause, she inexplicably put several restrictions on that very freedom of the press -- and not just against Fox News.
Fox News' Roger Friedman reports Jolie's hypocrisy.
'Mighty' Hypocrite Angelina Jolie Bans FOX and Others From Premiere
But Jolie turns out to be a mighty hypocrite when it comes to her own freedom of the press. Her lawyer required all journalists to sign a contract before talking to her, and Jolie instructed publicists at first to ban FOX News from the red carpet of her premiere.
Story Continues Below Ad ↓Ironically, Wednesday night's premiere of the excellent Michael Winterbottom-directed film was meant to support an organization called Reporters Without Borders. Jolie, however, did everything she could to clamp down on the press and control it.
Do none off these Hollywierd people have even the tiniest ability at introspection? Or are they so absolutely sure of their own god-like status that the fallibility of ordinary man is beyond their kin in their minds? Are they so focused on their ultimate goals that the path to them is immaterial? Is integrity such an unknown concept out on the left coast?
She wasn't done with just attempting to ban Fox from the red carpet, either.
Reporters from most major media outlets balked Wednesday when they were presented with an agreement drawn up by Jolie's Hollywood lawyer Robert Offer. The contract closely dictated the terms of all interviews.
Reporters were asked to agree to "not ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships. In the event Interviewer does ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships, Ms. Jolie will have the right to immediately terminate the interview and leave."
The agreement also required that "the interview may only be used to promote the Picture. In no event may Interviewer or Media Outlet be entitled to run all or any portion of the interview in connection with any other story. ... The interview will not be used in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning, or derogatory to Ms. Jolie."
If that wasn't enough, Jolie also requires that if any of these things happen, "the tape of the interview will not be released to Interviewer." Such a violation, the signatory thus agrees, would "cause Jolie irreparable harm" and make it possible for her to sue the interviewer and seek a restraining order.
What can I say further? I'd love to expound on this story, but there really isn't anything more that can be gainfully said.
Like most in Hollywierd, Jolie is an utter hypocrite.
That's about the whole length and breadth of this story.
The worst thing is, knowing how these people are, the media still fall all over themselves to give such people the kind of air time they desire to flog their causes.

She might be pulling this stunt because she senses that once again Hollyweird's output is in the "crappy" category, and doing this kind of thing to the news media is guaranteed to get attention for a crappy movie, but what I want to see is that contract she wants 'em to sign...

I'll say this. I dont like Jolie. I dont like her politics, her hypocricy and most of all her publicity stunt of adopting those kids that her sissy boyfriend has to carry around three steps behind her.
Now I'll get personal. She reminds me of someone who is in need of a hot shower, scrubbed down with lye soap, given a comb and some deodorant and sent on her way.

Could not agree more...but I would add a lysol or phisohex dip would seem to be in order but even that would make her safe.
I cannot understand what men see in her. Even on this forum, there are comments like "she is so hot".

Actually, I think Angelina has every right to be as demanding and hypocritical as she is in this situation. Hey, if you can get people to sign papers that allow you to control their every move, why wouldn't you?
The important thing is that the entire media stand firm and not concede to any of her demands... certainly not signed agreements to that effect. If even one of the outlets were to cave (thinking they'll get an exclusive), that would be a shame.
I certainly would pass. Those terms would make this a dull afterthought of an interview... not worth selling your integrity over.

A free press is one of the first things to go in a totalitarian government. Montana Lyons
"Although Pravda's content was tightly controlled by its editors, it was not impossible to discern truth from the newspaper. Many readers became sophisticated in guessing at the truth. The phrasing of a news item was often an important clue when guessing about the real meaning. The most newsworthy items were usually mentioned briefly and placed in obscure sections of the paper; oftentimes, the back pages of the paper contained more real news than the front pages. Bad news that happened inside the Soviet Union was usually not mentioned directly; instead, the paper would fabricate a series of similiar disasters occurring in other nations."

June 14, 2007 - 16:50 ET by" Bad news that happened inside the United States and made the administration look bad was usually not mentioned directly; instead, the 24 hour news channel would produce a series of similiar celebrities that had nothing to do with the real news!"
