Just before the Democratic debate, ABC "World News Sunday" provided their health care talking points for them in the June 3 broadcast.
Reporter Dan Harris presented the viewpoint that American taxpayers have a moral obligation to make sure all children have insurance, citing two left-wing Clinton supporters and several tragic stories.
“If you judged a country by how it treats its most vulnerable people, we're certainly failing when we leave 9 million children behind,” said Ron Pollack of the liberal Families USA.
Harris neglected to inform viewers of Families USA’s liberal agenda. Pollack and his organization have consistently promoted more government involvement and control of health care. In 1994, Pollack supported the Clinton administration’s plan for a federal takeover of health care.
Marian Wright Edelman of the Children's Defense Fund was the second liberal advocate in the report. She said the uninsured end up costing taxpayers money. Edelman is also a longtime friend of Hillary Clinton, but you didn't hear that from Harris.
The segment ignored the free market perspective entirely, promoting the idea that our nation is a moral disgrace for not providing health insurance to all nine million children who don't have any.
Ironically, Harris cited three families' tragedies, but in two of those cases parents had to fight government "red tape" to get treatment for their kids -- who tragically died. But the reporter didn't ask how a government-run universal system (promoted in the story) would be better, since more government would likely mean more red tape.

You are an idiot. Allow me to explain.
In order for me to provide insurance for my children, nieces, and future grandchildren, the government and its enablers, like you, Harris, has the moral obligation to keep its #*&*!*@ hands out of my pockets.
Now do you understand?

June 4, 2007 - 18:01 ET by VT Con ManTrix, to pile on your angst, any of these millions, which is surely a very bloated "estimate" from a poll no doubt, could walk into any hospital in our country and be treated carte blanche, for anything and we will all foot the bill anyway. Many states even automatically cover the children of parents with incomes under $x. So yeah, pilin on. Harris is an idiot. : )

June 4, 2007 - 18:02 ET by GalvanicHere's how ABC kills two birds with one stone.
Each year, ABC airs a "reality show" called "Who's Going To Treat My Children?", with the 9 million uninsured kids competing. All 9 million win the game, and ABC foots the bill.

June 4, 2007 - 19:11 ET by MidAmericaCurrently we have lots of people without health insurance but they have access to healthcare. If we get universal government run healthcare everyone will be included but many will lose access to healthcare since it will, for economic necessity, be rationed. For example, my father whose 88 now has full health insurance but under a government system he will be on waiting lists for any expensive treatments. For him 'free' universal healthcare could be a death sentence.

June 4, 2007 - 19:55 ET by jdhawkSorry, fun seekers, but the serial liar and philanderer, Bill Clintoon, has already taken care of providing health care for all children who need it. In fact, the only people that still have to pay for health care for themselves and everyone else are people over 18 years of age or under 65 years of age. Everyone else, I repeat, everyone else is covered by a government health care program at the local, state, and federal level. For those over 18 year of age or under 65 years of age that still have to pay, but will not, they continue to scam the rest of us.
So, to recap, you, presuming that you pay for health care, pay for yourself and your family and all children through 18 years of age and everyone 65 years of age and older that cares to suck from the teat of the government dole (your tax dollars).
So, both ABC got it wrong, naturally, and the liberal advocates got it wrong as well. Now, you must be asking yourselves why would this multi billion dollar news network and these multi million dollar liberal think tanks get it wrong? Because, for liberals, health care for the least that can take care of themselves and whose relatives will not do so isn't good enough. They will not be satisfied until the entire health care industry is in the hands of the government. The goverment's power in this area must be total and absolute. Liberals will not rest until that is the case.
Will you hear this again? Yes, you will hear an ever increasing drumbeat on this subject up to next November's election day. What? You can wait . . . Write your elected representatives and tell them you do not want your health care run by the federal government. Vote out any elected official that espouse this policy.
What they did not tell...
June 5, 2007 - 10:02 ET by Ole_SargeThe poor boy that died from a lack of dental care HAD medical/dental insurance -- it was a $10 co-pay to have the filling done. This was about a year before he died. His "welfare queen" Ma-ma could NOT be bothered to pay or follow-up. She had told him NOT to complain about a "little tooth ache."
We had this big blow-up discussion on WMAL radio back right after the news reports came out about it. Some of the folks that knew the family shared the "back-story." At first I was sorry and felt that the mother was "helpless" As more of the back story came out, I was outraged and wondered how could any "mother" allow that to happen or continue. I'd be knocking on every door and calling every person that might have helped.
BTW I am a "not" proud supportor of Government Healthcare, I served 22 years in the Air Force -- with Government Health care. Yep, it's great -- once you pass the "Gate Keepers." I lost a husband (also at the time active duty) since the "contract" civilian doctor that saw him for "minor" complaints dismissed that my husband had a growing brain tumor.
Oh we got "GREAT care, once he was in, but... lots of us in uniform can tell you about some of the less than stellar medical care "at the gate keepers" door.
The VA is GOVERNMENT Health care, the scandals about the contractor support services at Walter Reed (all that crap about the "dorms" that is ALL under contract to some "District" minority owned company -- that BY LAW by Congress, the Army and DoD cannot fire for "non-performance."
Do you or anyone you know REALLY WANT the same healthcare we give our military dependants, veterans and retirees? Or do they want the healthcare that members of Congress get? (Staffers are eligilble to get a variety of PRIVATE health care insurance policies or HMOs).

Yet, for some reason, I get the feeling you are willing to give a pass to the mothers and fathers of these uninsured children, the ones who should be responsible for insuring their children. Why not an expose' condemning irresponsible parents who have child after child that they can't take care of?

People have been indoctrinate
June 5, 2007 - 11:39 ET by mattmPeople have been indoctrinated by the MSM and the Educational system into a false notion of the purpose of insurance, which is meant to guard against a risk of an unlikely event - not be used as a third party, pre-paid this-or-that program.
The promulgation of this false notion was deliberate and intended to condition the public into acceptance of socialism.
