June 4, 2007 - 17:29 ET by bigtimerDr. Love...
So far from what I have seen that is exactly what the media has done about this...granted I have been busy most of the day until the last couple of hours and been on here...
Of course the media is NOT going to make a huge story out of this...
Anyone here that pays attention to politics knows the 24/7 coverage this would be getting if it was a repub.....anyone.
The hypocrisy is outrageous as far as I am concerned.
He could be facing up to over 200 years if charged on each of these counts...and the leftist media is silent...Fox wasn't saying much either last I saw.
Btw...he will not have to step down either, the dem's did not do what the idiotic chicken repub's did with their rules on their side of the aisle....it will have to be pressure from SanFran Nan and others in his own party...won't be the media, if the media is silent, I bet he stays longer yet.

June 4, 2007 - 17:45 ET by Trix RabbitI'm expecting Jackson and Sharpton to announce that the whole thing was a CIA/Rove/Bush setup and that poor Jefferson is a victim of racism.

Brit Hulme and panel just did a great segment on this...this guy is in deep shite...just eleven separate bribes alone from oil to telecom's.....
I see why they may have taken soooo long, wanted all their I's dotted and T's crossed.

Btw..to those interested, Dr. Love.....here is a link to what the minority leader Boehner is planning on for tomorrow regarding Jefferson.....the comments are kind of fun to a point.

I think Boehner is making another Republican mistake with this move. While I truly believe Jefferson is guilty as hell, calling for his expulsion before he is convicted is irresponsible and is exactly what the Dems have been doing to the Repubs for several years. While payback may be fair game, it's is making the Repubs look as bad as the Dems, and Boehner isn't going to get the MSM support the Dems have had. It's a precipitous move which will accomplish nothing other than making the entire party look foolish. He needs to wait for a conviction, then use it against the Dems as a whole if he wants to play payback games.

June 5, 2007 - 10:35 ET by Cool ArrowNewt didn't help the impeachment procedings when the news of his affair hit the waves, and he wasn't convicted of anything.
Foley got nasty with a 16 yr old page and resigned even though the law in DC says it's ok to have sex with consenting 16 yr olds.
It wouldn't be the first time a congressman was asked to leave under the appearance of impropriety.
Silly that we can't hold our representatives to a higher standard without hearing their defenders dragging out that "innocent until proven guilty" line.

June 5, 2007 - 12:15 ET by BeowulfI totally agree that our elected officials should be held to a higher standard. But becoming such doesn't abrogate the basic principle of innocent until proven guilty. Boehner should keep such motions in his pocket unless and until Jefferson should be convicted. Then the whole weight of the law should be dropped on him. No matter how guilty he looks (and most likely is), he hasn't yet been convicted. Even the two examples you gave (Newt and Foley) make my point. And you can add DeLay, who hasn't yet been convicted of a single thing, to the list. This has become a Dem tactic to cast negativism on the whole Repub party. You can also look at Murtha's conviction of US Marines even before it was known there had been an incident at Haditha.
People, especially our elected officials, need to keep their mouths shut until they have something factual to say.
