I’m sure I’m speaking for millions of anthropogenic global warming skeptics when I say that virtually nothing brightens my day more than an article written by a climate expert exposing the Global Warmingist-in-Chief, soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore, as nothing more than a snake oil selling charlatan.
All those who agree say "Aye."
With that in mind, the sun came out brightly this morning when I received the following article in my inbox.
As published at the Muskogee Phoenix Sunday evening, a former military meteorologist named Paul Becker wrote a marvelous letter to the editor (emphasis added throughout):
Al Gore’s global warming is the biggest myth of the century, even transcending Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Those who believed the latter three myths would also be snowed by Gore’s myth.
People who would really like to know the truth and who are not mesmerized by their political commitment to Gore should consult the scientific community — try the American Meteorological Society.
Excuse me, Paul, but why should they consult anyone? Didn’t you hear? The debate’s over, and according to the alarmists, they won.
Of course, none of them is actually willing to debate the issue, making the assertion “the debate’s over” thoroughly absurd.
Regardless, after sharing his credentials with the reader, Becker continued:
I’m telling you global warming is a myth. However, please check the Internet (Al Gore’s invention) and ask about greenhouse gases. You will find that there are five. The most plentiful is water vapor making up 35 to 70 percent of all greenhouse gases. Mankind’s total contribution to all greenhouse gases — this includes cars, trucks, manufacturing plants, boats, planes and any pollution producer you can name — the total is less than 1 percent. Mother Nature provides the other 99 percent. It’s on the Net.
Before you buy into the global warming myth, just remember that most of the natural wonders of the world were caused by various ice ages and periods of global warming. We’ve warmed one-half of a degree in the last century, but Gore has Florida under water in a decade or so when the ice cap melts.
Yes, Paul, but the debate’s over!

Another Inconvenient Truth:
October 16, 2007 - 22:33 ET by RosettaNobel Peace Prize: NEW Global Warming Antiperspirant
AP – Al Gore has for a long time been full of hot air. He has a vivid imagination about the world around him. His inherent mistrust of the seasons seems to stem from an episode of the Twilight Zone, in which the Earth gets too close to the Sun. Summers are hot & sticky, and Al is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures needed to create a more effective global deodorant.
If college roommate, Tommy Lee Jones, could save the City of Los Angeles from errant magma (Volcano), and the world entire from a giant cockroach (Men In Black), then certainly Al Gore deserves a prize for his global initiative to combat global wetness. The same active ingredient and trusted formula that kept our leaders dry during the Cold War – now in unscented. As the planet heats up, you don’t have to! Clinton tested: guaranteed to leave no trace.
Now that Global Warming has been legitimized, a “private group” out of Monterey California of all places, wants to seed the North Atlantic with iron oxide pellets, to help plankton absorb carbon dioxide (greenhouse gasses). Strategy: “cleanup the planet and make a buck on the side.” Another inconvenient truth: how these Bolshevik’s misguided scam to pirate the “Peace Dividend,” sparked the worst terrorist attacks on United States soil: http://theseedsof9-1...

American Meteorological Society
June 4, 2007 - 13:56 ET by motloI took the advice in the post and went to the website for the American Meteorological Society. Below are the final paragraphs from the AMS Information Statement on Climate Change (from Feb 07)
Make of it what you will:
Final remarks
Despite the uncertainties noted above, there is adequate evidence from observations and interpretations of climate simulations to conclude that the atmosphere, ocean, and land surface are warming; that humans have significantly contributed to this change; and that further climate change will continue to have important impacts on human societies, on economies, on ecosystems, and on wildlife through the 21st century and beyond. Focusing on the next 30 years, convergence among emission scenarios and model results suggest strongly that increasing air temperatures will reduce snowpack, shift snowmelt timing, reduce crop production and rangeland fertility, and cause continued melting of the ice caps and sea level rise. Important goals for future work include the need to understand the relation of climate at the state and regional level to the patterns of global climate and to reverse the decline in observational networks that are so critical to accurate climate monitoring and prediction.
Policy choices in the near future will determine the extent of the impacts of climate change. Policy decisions are seldom made in a context of absolute certainty. Some continued climate change is inevitable, and the policy debate should also consider the best ways to adapt to climate change. Prudence dictates extreme care in managing our relationship with the only planet known to be capable of sustaining human life.

June 4, 2007 - 12:46 ET by Sick-n-TiredNoel,
I give you a big AYE MATE! But I do have to admit, I have to wince at some of Pauls assertations. First of all his numbers are off for water vapor concentrations; 35-70% is way too low and actually a Wiki number (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenhouse_gas). Water vapor accounts for greater than 95% of all GHG's (i.e. see: S.M. Freidenreich and V. Ramaswamy, “Solar Radiation Absorption by Carbon Dioxide, Overlap with Water, and a Parameterization for General Circulation Models,” Journal of Geophysical Research 98 (1993):7255-7264).
Furthermore, I really wince when he says "Its on the net." Paul, I have no doubt, may be an expert, but I just wish he would have been a little more hard hitting with his references and facts---the intention is there yes, but I say go high or stay home! Hit 'em with both barrels a blazin' and don't leave anything to arguement or interpretation!

Not only that, but doesn't hydrogen production require water? Where are we going to get all this water to replace the oil we currently use? Don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rather run out of oil than water.
Hydrogen production require
June 4, 2007 - 16:33 ET by lnthompHydrogen production requires some compound of hydrogen -- usually it's water, but water in itself isn't really a requirement. On the other hand, electrolysis, which is one well-known way to separate the oxygen from the hydrogen in water, requires that the water is not pure, in order to support electrical current, therefore ocean brine would be a good candidate, and I don't forsee us running out of ocean any time soon, partly because hydrogen combustion produces the same amount of water that got reduced by the production of hydrogen in the first place. It would be a great perpetual motion machine, if the electricity required to separate the water only required as much energy as the hydrogen combustion produced!

June 4, 2007 - 18:47 ET by Sick-n-TiredGood point, just as it takes more energy (typically in the form of natural gas) to distill and produce ethanol than it produces. 31 acres of corn equals the energy of 1 barrel of oil! Now factor in the amount of energy and hydrocarbons it takes to grow and harvest the corn (not even considering the amount of petrochemical pesticides that need to be added to the corn)----it is a total losing proposition. June 4, 2007 - 14:23 ET by The Wicked ConservativeNoel, I've got to agree with whodat on this one. Think about it, why else would they try the "global warming is a moral issue" baloney. They think that they can become the moral majority by making up their own morals. What they don't get is that you actually have to stand up for something in order to unite people. Conservatives don't stand against homosexual culture to win elections (well some politicians might) Conservatives stand against the gay culture because we know what one culture accepts the next considers normal and then what's next? Poligamy, beastiality, and eventually pedophilia. You see the difference is that the base and the people that vote had issue and politicians fell in place to represent people. The dimmy politicians want to make the issue first and then make people fall in line with them.

Then it got all cloudy and rained and I swear to you, the temperature dropped like 3 degrees in 10 minutes! Are you listening to me Al? 3 degrees in 10 minutes! That fact as well as the percentage of greenhouse gases man contributes (maximum of < 6%) never seems to make it into msm stories about global warming. But these numbers speak for themselves. AGW gets more improbable the more you look at the cold facts.

June 5, 2007 - 08:45 ET by danboThey're telling us there has been a huge increase in tempertures of fractions of a degree. And telling us about pass tempertures. They're telling us this is the warmest period in the last thousand years. They're basing it on proxy records. As tree rings.
Being familiar with the use of tree rings. I, for one, want to know the callibration of the thermometer in trees. 1/10th of a degree? 1/100th? Ball park figure within 10-20 degrees? How do they isolate the temperture variable from all the other variables that influence tree growth.
Yet they want us to take them seriously. The house of AGW is built on quick sand.

There is an even simpler way
June 5, 2007 - 11:45 ET by NL207There is an even simpler way to look at this debate for the layman just by examining the basic physics.
1. By applying the blackbody radiator model to the Earth adjusted for albedo, which no true blackbody radiator has, we can show that the Sun is responsible for about 255 degrees K of the mean surface temperature of Earth, which is 288 K.
2. The troposphere [the first 10-12,000 feet] of the Earth's atmosphere is responsible for the lion's share of the greenhouse effect. Anyone who has flown in the startosphere on a large commercial airliner has no doubt seen on the courtesy video provided by their airline what the air temperature outside the aircraft is ... FRIGID COLD! Within the troposphere, water vapor is responsible for 95% of the greenhouse effect and CO2 accounts for most of the rest.
This translates to the following scenario: You are trapped in a large room. In that room with you are several apes. One of them is King Kong, weighing in at a cool 9,000 pounds. The second largest is named Water Vapor and he weighs in a 950 pounds. The next largest ape in the room is CO2 and he weighs about 50 pounds. The global warming alarmists are telling you that you should be terrified of the 50 pound monkey because he grew by 15 pounds in the last century. Personally, I'd be a whole lot more concerned about what Kong was doing, even though I have zero control over him and the same goes for the 950 pounder over whom I have virtually no control either. I can kick the other one's ass if I need to.
