Former German Chancellor Calls For End of Media Hysteria Over Global Warming

Most climate change watchers are aware that leaders from the eight most developed nations will be meeting in Germany this week to discuss, among other things, issues related to global warming.

With a delicious sense of irony, former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt put his two cents into this debate with comments that will surely not be reported by America’s alarmist media even though he was somewhat speaking to them.

As reported by Deutsche Welle (emphasis added, h/t Benny Peiser):

Meanwhile, former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt called for an end to the "hysteria" over global warming in the lead-up to the summit. The topic is "hysterical, overheated, and that is especially because of the media," Schmidt told Germany's Bild daily.

There has always been climate change on earth, Schmidt said.

"We've had warm- and ice-ages for hundreds of thousands of years," he said, and added that the reasons behind the multiple climate changes have been "inadequately researched for the time being."

To assume that global climate change can be altered by any plans made at the Heiligendamm summit is "idiotic," he said.

How marvelous. Think Katie, Charlie, or Brian will be reporting this tonight? If the answer is “No,” would they report it if he said that global warming is the biggest challenge facing the planet today, and that if the leaders of the G-8 don’t do something immediately, homo sapiens might face extinction?

Yeah, I think so, too.

Over the weekend I fumbled across The Weather Channel's female version of Algore ... "Dr." Heidi Cullen.  This woman's smugness and arrogance in insisting her version of "global warming" is the only conclusion and is etched in bedrock makes me sick.  And if you aren't with her you are an idiot or retard (even if your college degrees are bigger and more experienced than hers).  I can't watch her too long without placing my hand to my mouth and rushing to puke ...

Sometimes I wish I wrote for "South Park".  I'd pen an episode about GW where the roads and highways are lined with folks nailed to crosses with signs hung from their necks:

"Dared to drive his SUV to the hospital when he thought he might be having a heart attack ... instead of walking there" ... "Disputed the consensus on Man-Made Global Warming" ... "Disagreed with Heidi Cullen" ... "Called the Prophet Al Gore a Shmeckle" ... "Laughed at Laurie David" ... "Used more than one square during an IBS attack" ...

Laugh now, but it just might be coming ...

I too fumbled across the weat

I too fumbled across the weather channel and my local weather channel (somewhere in the 500's on my cable box) looking for a simple radar map.  BOTH channels had global warming alarmists on.  The weather channel was going through all the animals that are going to be adversly affected by global warming.  It amazes me that ALL animals are going to be adversly affect - not one is going to have an easier time in a warmer environment.  Now I'm no scientist but doesn't this strike anyone as "funnny" and quite unlikely?  Surely SOME animal is going to reap the benefits of a warmer climate, IF in fact one does come.  BTW - almost 3,000 species of frog are going to die off if we don't all go in lock-step with Al Gore!!!

The voice of reason

Oops - careful, Chancellor! You are making way too much sense for liberals to understand that global warming (and cooling) is a natural phenomenon.

But remember, those inspiring, unforgettable, heart-wrenching and passionate words spoken by that chief environmentalist wacko AlGore: "The planet has a fever"!

And we all know, don't we, that he just HAS to be right because he will soon be "Doctor" AlGore!

Never dance on an empty stomach unless it's a liberal.

That's a wonderful report...

That's a wonderful report... as most about respected AGW theory debunkers are.

But why the picture of actor Chris Cooper?   ;-)    (I guess we know who'll play Schmidt in the movie?)

Ahh the Germans, you just can

Ahh the Germans, you just can't stay mad at them.  The tide is turning against global warming at all levels except for the media, they would have to (God forbid) admit that they were a bit hysterical and let's face it, Satan will push his snowblower well before that time.

They don't have to admit an

They don't have to admit anything -- they never do ... There will come a point where they'll simply stop talking about it, in preparation for the next hysteria about a HUMAN-CAUSED ICE AGE COMING which will then fade away for the next HUMAN-CAUSED GLOBAL WARMING in another 20 or 30 years.

None of them are embarrassed about their 1972 hysteria about that non-existent ice-age.

"They Call This a "Consensus?"

"They Call This a "Consensus?"

"Only an insignificant fraction of scientists deny the global warming crisis. The time for debate is over. The science is settled."

"So said Al Gore in 1992. Amazingly, he made his claims despite much evidence of their falsity. A Gallup poll at the time reported that 53% of scientists actively involved in global climate research did not believe global warming had occurred; 30% weren't sure; and only 17% believed global warming had begun. Even a Greenpeace poll showed 47% of climatologists didn't think a runaway greenhouse effect was imminent; only 36% thought it possible and a mere 13% thought it probable."

"They call this Consensus"

Your right, there is no consensus and a study done by Professor Dennis Bray of the GKSS Institute of Coastal Research in Geesthacht shows it.

Yup.  More facts and numbers that don't seem to make it into the msm's coverage of this subject.

It's a little surprising to say this but thank heavens for the foreign press.  And kudos to former Chancellor Schmidt for his excellently timed remarks.
