As Ken Shepherd reported earlier, on the May 14 edition of "The View" co-host Rosie O’Donnell once again advanced her now famous September 11 conspiracy theory. After admitting to a "cult personality," Rosie engaged in a verbal spat with her colleague Elisabeth Hasselbeck on the merits of this crackpot theory.
Joy Behar accused former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani of incompetence in handling the lead up to and aftermath of the terrorist attacks of that horrific day. This prompted Rosie to note that Giuliani shipped some of the debris to China, implying the former mayor had evidence to hide. After Behar lashed out at Giuliani for not moving the Command/Control Center out of the World Trade Center after the 1993 bombing, Rosie advanced her conspiracy theory again.
O’DONNELL: Joy, wait a minute, wait a minute. The command control center was in World Trade Center Seven, not in one or two. It was in the building that mysteriously collapsed at 5:30 P.M.
BEHAR: Well, it shouldn’t have been in any of them.
O’DONNELL: It was not in tower one, it was not in tower two that got hit by a plane it was in tower seven that got hit by nothing, 47 floors and dropped at 5:30 into itself.
Token non-liberal Elisabeth Hasselbeck reacted strongly and implicitly called Rosie out on her dumb comment that fire can’t melt steel.
HASSELBECK: There was also internal fire in that building, which can melt steel which was holding up that building.
O’DONNELL: No way Elisabeth.
HASSELBECK: It can weaken it. If you ask physicists alone, the force by nature, the volcanic force alone could have taken that building.
O’DONNELL: 2700 degrees melts steel.
HASSELBECK: And how much does it take to weaken it? I think it’s 270.
O’DONNELL: 270 degrees?
HASSELBECK: I’ll check. I’ll check. I’ll check on that.
O’DONNELL: Well, if you watch all the documentaries --
HASSELBECK: Once steel is weakened, once steel is weakened. It doesn't have to be completely melted.
O’DONNELL: Did you know that there were three pools of molten steel? There was one pool underneath World Trade Center One
For the record, according to Popular Mechanics, steel melts at 2750 degrees Fahrenheit but can weaken at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Ironically, Rosie, noting the command center was in World Trade Center Seven, unintentionally helped debunk her own conspiracy theory. Popular Mechanics notes:
"Tower 7 housed the city’s emergency command center, so there were a number of fuel tanks located throughout the building—including two 6000-gal. tanks in the basement that fed some generators in the building by pressurized lines. ‘Our working hypothesis is that this pressurized line was supplying fuel [to the fire] for a long period of time,’ according to Sunder."
In an earlier segment, Rosie possibly explained some of her conspiracy theory beliefs, exclaiming her "cult personality," even admitting she’s "five seconds away from drinking the Kool Aid."
ROSIE O’DONNELL: You know, I didn’t ask if they believed in Jesus, but I did read the books because I was fascinated by it, you know. And then Kelli, like, hid them from me, you know.
JOY BEHAR: Why?
O’DONNELL: because she thinks I’m likely to join anything, which is true, you know.
BEHAR: You do have that cult personality.
O’DONNELL: I do. Remember the Jim Jones thing? I’m five seconds away from drinking the Kool Aid singing, "Kumbaya," you know. Honestly, it’s like I have a little bit of that.
Editor's Note (Ken Shepherd): NewsBusters reader Gary Hall, in a comment in my original post, also mentioned a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) report that deals with the collapse of WTC 7.
The entire transcript is below.
ROSIE O’DONNELL: You know, I didn’t ask if they believed in Jesus, but I did read the books because I was fascinated by it, you know. And then Kelli, like, hid them from me, you know.
JOY BEHAR: Why?

[...]
JOY BEHAR: Well, the one thing is that Giuliani post-9/11 appeared to be very heroic. But now they’re saying that he was not that efficient in helping the people who were the recovery– the responders.
O’DONNELL: Also, he was, you know, instrumental in making sure that all of the steel was removed and shipped to Canada right away, Giuliani– was shipped to China, sorry, right away.
BEHAR: For what purpose?
O’DONNELL: Well, to get it out of there and to have, you know, all of the stu -- but it was all gone. So there was no like metal to test. There was no, there was no-
ELISABETH HASSELBECK: Giuliani was involved in the cover-up is that what's going on? I just want to check.
[...]
BEHAR: But, according to what I’ve been reading, they told Giuliani to take the command/control center out of the World Trade Center, because it’s a target, maybe they’ll try again. Everybody told them to do that. He did not listen. He kept it in the World Trade Center. So, when they attacked the World Trade Center, the command/control Center went up with it. And now wait a minute, do you know where it is now?
O’DONNELL: Joy, wait a minute, wait a minute. The command control center was in World Trade Center Seven, not in one or two. It was in the building that mysteriously collapsed at 5:30 P.M.
BEHAR: Well, it shouldn’t have been in any of them.

HASSELBECK: I read all the conspiracy theories on this. I know that, that’s what they’re saying.
O’DONNELL: So you labeled it a conspiracy. I’m just telling you there was a fact. There’s a fact that there was molten steel under those three buildings.
HASSELBECK: And it is also a fact that volcanic pressure alone could take the building down.
O’DONNELL: The volcanic pressure of what volcano?
HASSELBECK: The pressure alone of those two buildings coming down.
BEHAR: The bomb, she’s saying the bomb.
HASSELBECK: I'm saying the bomb, the force of the other two.
O’DONNELL: Wait, the bomb? You're saying the plane.
BEHAR: The plane, the plane, the plane. The explosion
HASSELBECK: The force of the other two buildings coming down could alone take that building down.
O’DONNELL: Do you know how fast it took those towers to fall?
HASSELBECK: I don’t have the exact time on me.
O’DONNELL: Nine seconds. Do you know how fast it would taken something to free fall with no resistance from the top of that building? Nine seconds. It’s physically impossible.

Impossible
May 14, 2007 - 13:31 ET by allanfI guess Rosie missed the tanker accident near the Bay Bridge two weeks ago. The tanker was carrying 8600 gallons of unleaded gasoline. In that accident.
Impossible according to Rosie. Yet the roadway was gone. Go figure. Rosie went on to bluster:
Well Rosie, the towers were not in free fall. The combined weight of the collapsed floors above caused the floors below to collapse. It was like a set of dominos going down.
Rosie revels in her ignorance, anger and venom. Hasselbeck is outgunned by all the bluster. It is a shame that Behar, who ought to know better, plays the role of the weak willed woman. She adopts the characteristics of the stronger leader It is the kind of personality trait that leads women to hold drugs for the dealer boyfriends, excuse abusive husbands and commit despicable acts in a search for approval.
This is not good stuff to be on display to bored housewives.

April 17, 2008 - 12:04 ET by zaninessVery interesting. Anyway the assault on 9/11 will remain a mystery. No one will ever know the truth, besides the people that where behind this terrorist plot, like they say. I don`t think that it was a terrorist assault. As you can see in some shows, some say that behind this was the president. Maybe we should take him and make him tell us some drug rehab success stories.

May 15, 2007 - 06:21 ET by SportPoliticsI'm having problems. I wasn't beaten as a child. I'm not adopted. I'm not a lesbian or a transgendered. I wasn't born with a deformity. Not born retarded. I'm not black or non-white hispanic, or hispanic, or asain, or arab, or persian, or mulatto, or a half breed. I don't have ADD ADHD, eppilepsy, tourette's, bulemia, a malfunctioning pancreas, six fingers or toes on one hand or foot....I haven't been sexually molested.
Is that why I'm having problems ... thinking and understanding like a good Rosie liberal ?
I actually do wonder if physically normal and healthy white male heterosexual is an abberation nowadays, does that qualify me ?
I mean, what's my excuse ? Isn't that how it works... if you have something that isn't considered "normal" or "traditonally superior" or "in control" - you seem to have the right to go on mentally incompetent binge ranting and ravings and be certain the universe is aligned against you/us since birth (excepting those of the "normal tradionally superior and in control" that are currently causing the unfair misalignment) , yet have a strange arrogance in sharing how smart and intelligent and researching and great you are for having figured it all out while the sheeplized lemmings never looked beyond the goebbel-like propaganda.

May 14, 2007 - 14:13 ET by Wilbur747I spent a quarter century in the Air Force doing what I loved best. I feel good that in some tiny, miniscule way I helped to defend every American's right to say what they think. I think all vets feel the same way.
But when it comes to Rosie and her ilk, I think I need to to take ulcer meds! I think Rosie is why I grind my teeth at night!
As for Hasslebeck, she needs to attend Rush Limbaugh's University for a more intense course on Conservatism, and another course on how to assert herself.
But then, I came to the realization that Baba Wawa and her network would never let her be as outspoken as Rosie/Joy/Baba.
All seriousness aside, I dispise the fact that active duty military fight for, and veterans fought for the right of people like Rosie to speak her mind, yet all of the MSM will not let us (conservatives) speak our minds without calling us racists, homophobe, bigots, or what ever other slanderous name they think of.

May 14, 2007 - 15:57 ET by Wilbur747I'm appreciative of your gratitude, but I confess I had a blast during my time in the AF and my combat action was limited, thus I can't accept it. I never encountered the hardships that our real heroes encounter every day, the hardships of your father and brother, those involved in the War on Terror, or especially those that our Greatest Generation did. I salute your Father and brother, those in the WOT, and the GG. While I spent my time in hotels, your family spent time in cramped, tight ships.
I take no credit since as an aviator, I was 'removed' from death and destruction. I was never on the ground, going from house to house, driving in HMMVs while IEDs blow up next to them.
All of my gratitiude go your father, brother, our vets from both World Wars and those who have suffered in the War on Terror. I also salute you for trying, especially the Marines. I could not have survived the USMC!
I'm disgusted that they've suffered so much while Rosie/Joyless/Baba and all the others enjoy their oppulent lifestyle all the while bashing America and anyone who don't tow the liberal line.
I'm especially disgusted that Rosie made comments that the only reason people join the military is to improve their low education.

May 14, 2007 - 15:01 ET by WisdomYou know, there are a lot of "far-fetched" conspiracy theories out there but the fact is WTC 7 actually was a controlled demolition. Larry Silverstein, the leaseholder of the WTC complex is on video, saying that they agreed to demolish the building because of the internal fires. Now why this turned into a huge "cover-up" is where the questions can be asked. But, WTC 7 was a controlled demolition. Here's a video link of Silverstein describing the steps as they decided to pull the building, from a 2002 documentary called "America Rebuilds"
http://video.google....
Also, for more reference, is a link to a short article on the issue:
http://www.prisonpla...
Another reason there is so much speculation about this demolition is because Silverstein Properties was awarded $861 million from Industrial Risk Insurers to rebuild on the site, when their initial investment was $386 million. This is why there is so much speculation and "conspiracy theories." Sure, its crazy to say Bush was responsible for 9/11 or something like that, but what Rosie is trying to get across isn't all that "crazy" when you do the research. Within the last several weeks, I've seen a couple videos of two presidential candidates being told about and briefed on the issue for the first time and they both vied to investigate, so we will probably be hearing more about the issue.

They are suspicious of area 51. They believe the other Kennedy who ran for president was "done" with the help of the LAPD. They believe MLK was assasinated by the "pre-neocon" racists.
They believe in the Bilderbergers world control - the secret new world order, oil wars, secret energy technology blocked by the Oil Barrons, and the list goes on.
They aren't - or don't consider themselves morbid curiosity freaks - they believe they are " The New Enlightenment ".
Yeah - THE NEW ENLIGHTENMENT
It's pretty simple - once they have their critical mass, the "BIG LIES" will all come tumbling down - and destroy the evil secret shadow elite's plan, and it will save the world, and bring in the new era of equality and world peace and love - the one Marx spoke of - the utopia after "the collapse" of the evil order of "capitalism".
That's why it's an inside job - for oil and profit.
That's why area 51 secrets are covered up - for the technology profits - and keeping the xtian control of the masses with "religion".
That's why JFK was murdered - for the fiat money - the control of the presidential roost - for beating down the population, and making them modern economic slaves.
That's why the WTC and 7 were demolitioned - for more vile capitalistic cabal control - and world control - to opress and steal from the people.
They indeed believe they are the NEW ENLIGHTMENT - that will throw off the CHAINS of the present system - and cause justice and truth and equality to finally blossom throughout the world.

First, she insists it wasn't hot enough to "melt" the steel (forget about explaining weakening by heat because she is obviously deaf to that physical fact ~ and doesn't apparently watch the news as she should have completely dropped the whole `fire doesn't melt steel' clap-trap after the truck / bridge collapse accident out in California a couple weeks ago) ... YET ... It WAS hot enough to produce and sustain three stinking pools of molten steel??!!!
Judas Priest!!!
Secondly, building 7 gave way at 5:30 in the evening (?) ... HOURS after the early a.m. attacks. From what I understand, debris from the collapse of Towers 1 and 2 landed on top of building 7 ... and NOT in a feathery gentle landing, but a massively violent and heavy drop. Building 7 had been on fire inside for hours (weakening the steel), in addition to the weakening and damage brought on by the falling debris of the first two buildings. (Rosie, you knuckle-head! ever see a house after a storm has dropped a nearby tree on it??!!)
Third, I recall in post 9-11 interviews people who had relatives in either of the two towers recalled how those loved ones called the WTC a death trap. I also recall a Discovery Channel program about how the buildings were constructed. It was a unique design with (if I recall correctly) the steel frame being located much further out in order to, I don't know how it was worded, give the buildings a different "look" (????)
Fourthly, to do what this lame-brain is saying would've taken MANY people to plan and carry out (many more than would have had to been "employed" to shoot Kennedy). After nearly 6 years, don't you think SOMEONE would have leaked info or come forward? Or did Karl Rove have them all killed???

The WTC was essentially a furnace tower with an incredible amount of aviation fuel to feed an already intense fire. I guess Rosie slept thru Physics class or for that matter elementary science. To say fire doesn't melt steel makes me gasp at the sheer unbridled ignorance. What does she think a cutting torch is? How do you suppose we melt steel if we don't use fire? When on active duty in the Navy and aboard ship the one thing we feared more than anything was fire. Jet fuel will sure as hell melt steel. Go watch any of the bad carrier fires on file and you will see melted steel flight deck plates.

Many people gave contemporaneous accounts of a fire that burned in Building 7 that day over the course of several hours. Exactly what effect does Rosie think the igniting of those two 6,000 gallon fuel tanks in the basement had on the structural integrity of the building?
Don't forget the destroyed lower face of 7
May 15, 2007 - 09:34 ET by SportPoliticsDon't forget the destroyed lower 20 floors corner of 7, the entire lower southside/ corner was damaged in the WTC's collapse, ripping away the lower 20 stories of one corner - all the way down and into the structure a number of feet. There are pictures of it. It took a huge chunk out of the entire lower southern corner. If that isn't "structural integrity" trouble, I don't know what is.
And a "huge gaping hole" on the entire south face of 7 " I'd say it was about 1/3rd of it" - with fires "scattered through all those 20 floors"

May 15, 2007 - 09:41 ET by drillanwrI'm very, very far from being a demolition expert, but do know charges (explosives) need to be placed in very key positions in order to bring a building straight down. Having said that, these charges would have to have been placed inside walls ... so unless the towers were closed for an extended period of time to tear out dry wall, morter, wood, plaster, , insulation, etc, etc ... place the massive charges ... and then replace the dry wall, plaster, etc so perfectly that no one would suspect it had been tampered with ... I do not recall the WTC being closed for such an extensive time. (At least during the short 7 or 8 months GWBush was in office ...) Hmmm, how long was it closed after the first WTC attack during the early 1990s (If at all)??? ... Let's see, that was during Willie Clinton's time in office.
You still go back to the fact the time, energy, and man power involved in this scatter-brained conspiracy, and then the "hush" factor involved, are just NOT there ...
Also, perhaps Rosie needs a simple example: Rosie, if they lift you above Joy, and then lift Joy above Bawbaw, and then lift Bawbaw above Elizabeth ... and then drop you, you'll fall on top of Joy, causing her to fall on top of Bawbaw, causing the three of you to land on top of Elizabeth, killing Elizabeth and causing her body to be disintegrated into millions of tiny pieces of barely recognizable debris ... and there is a very, very good chance the body parts of Bawbaw and Joy would be scattered about ... (Your body, however, just might remain intact) ... However, if parts of Joy and Bawbaw actually flew and fell into the audience, those members would be knocked to the floor too ... possibly taking down others with them.
Better???
"Rosie" is physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually incapable of practicing intelligent logic and reasoning. I pity the children she is raising. They will be unable to move very far beyond basic math and potty training.

Oh, and if Rosie and others want to claim such demo charges were placed during the building of the WTC (you know, for future demo, if need be) there are a couple problems with that argument that come to my mind:
1) in all the documentaries I've seen on the building of the WTC that has NEVER been mentioned (but let's ask the Rockefellers, as they were key in the planning of the towers)
2) people involved with the construction of WTC would have come forward with that info to help explain the collapse of the two towers, especially amid the "speculations"
3) the WTC towers were constructed during the late 1960s and into the mid 1970s ... ANY explosive charges positioned in the unfinished walls back then would have either:
a) decayed beyond being usefull over the 30+ years time or
b) for that many charges to have been pre-set, over time one or more of them would have become unstable and randomly exploded over the 30+ years
Still, it goes back to the whole "death trap" design of the towers:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullion_wall
"Minoru Yamasaki used the "Mullion Wall" design [for] World Trade Center, New York . ..."
What's that?
Mullion wall -
(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
"The Mullion Wall is a structural system in which the load of the floor slab is taken by prefabricated panels around the perimeter. Visually the effect is similar to the stone mullioned windows of Perpendicular Gothic or Elizabethan architecture. ... "
So, "thinking and logical and reasoning" minds can see that Gothic and Elizabethan structures NEVER reached the heights of the the WTC Twin Towers. Clearly the design was chosen for aesthetics, and possibly for materials conservation ("The technology was devised by George Grenfell Baines and the engineer Felix Samuely in order to cope with material shortages at the Thomas Linacre School, Wigan (1952) ... "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullion_wall )

May 14, 2007 - 20:27 ET by motherbeltI said that a while ago, Mum. I confess I can't help but comment when the drivel is displayed here, but I gotta admit, if there was never another post about Rosie the O or The View I wouldn't miss them. There is not much one can say about either of them that hasn't been said already.

They're all under pressure to vote too. So keep the Rosie blogs coming.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little! Secondly, would someone please school Elizabeth Hasslebeck so she can shut these uneducated women up? Please, Elizabeth, you are a smart woman who can rebut these crazies if you wanted to. I'm begging you. At least use the old SNL line on them: "Rosie, you ignorant slut..." I'd actually TiVo that moment.

She would seem to be way out of line with her conspiracy theory.
However one must give her credit to being one of the biggest contributors to relief efforts in New Orleans; some 4.7 million dollars.
Rosie is said to be the sixth highest contributing individual to charity in the USA.

For good or ill, Rosie has a camera, a microphone, an audience of millions and the corresponding obligation to speak with a modicum of responsibility. Her charitable activities do not relieve her of that obligation and give her license to promote irrational, harmful conspiracies.

Rosie you were a stand up comic and an actor.- NOT an architect.
Rosie , I would never ask a physics professor and Structural steel engineer to host a talk show- I suggest you don't try to do their job either.
I am sure there were probably an audience of nind numbed women in the audience nodding & agreeing with Rosie.

May 15, 2007 - 08:02 ET by NL207You miss the point. If Rosie were a Civil Engineer or Architect, she would be unemployed. No responsible Engineering or Architectural firm would retain the services of an architrect or engineer as incompetent as she. Only an ethically challenged and deeply biased MSM would retain a talk show host as incompetent as she.
Mindless truthers
May 15, 2007 - 09:02 ET by rpkinmdThe WTC structural failures are the most examined and studied failures in history. Every university engineering school, every technical society, every major architectural firm has studied the collapse. Why; to understand and prevent similar failures in the future. The idea that some crazy physics professor, not a real discipline for studying structural failure, has more knowledge than all the others is ludicrous. And would discovering that the collapse was an inside job be concealed? Besides that it presupposes that all of the participants are unethical, it ignores the enormous professional benefits that would accrue to the individual or group that could prove it. There is no cover up.
Oh Rosie, the steel was sent to Staten Island where it was extensively studied to understand the failure mode.
Rosie, give me a break!
May 15, 2007 - 09:35 ET by MaryMacElveenAs a person that has always concidered myself to be a liberal, Rosie O'Donnell has gone off the deep end in respect to her conspiracies as it relates to both twin towers and building 7. I have written columns based upon science and have come to a much different conclusion than Rosie O'Donnell's. Please go to my blog at http://www.marymacelveen.com to read them. By the way, I am not paid the millions that she has been paid. In fact, I am not paid at all.

Thanks for the direct to your site. Enjoyed the article like a deep breath of warm spring air! As for "Rosie" and "Carlie" et al in the 9-11 Conspiracy Cult, don't hold your breath for them to understand, if even read, what you've researched with solid facts and sources, and laid out before them.
BTW, I am wondering if you've done such an article on the Global Warming Cult, (and its indoctrination into our public schools) and how the GWC is controlling the debate, primarily via the MSM, by silencing and ignoring the "other side's" scientists and data???

May 15, 2007 - 12:41 ET by whatajoyJustin - love your blogs on Rosie and transcripts from the show!! I'm going to miss them when Rosie leaves The View.
Rosie is such a narrow-minded, delusional idiot who reads something on some unofficial website and believe it as fact and then preach it to everyone like she's the authority on the subject. She acts as if she's had extensive training and experience in architecture, steel, fire and implosions, and she hasn't. She's a narrow-minded fool who spews opinions as facts.
She wants us to be open-minded and expand our horizons but she fails to take her own advice. She refuses to hear the other side or think that she could be wrong. She is such an idiot.
