CNN Photo Caption Under Tony Blair Video: 'Bush Resigns'

Photo of Warner Todd Huston.

Looks like the folks at the much maligned CNN indulged in a little bit of wishful thinking on Friday during a report of British Prime Minister Tony Blair's resignation announcement.

In a video caption of Blair, CNN plastered the words "Bush Resigns" across the screen.

Media Bistro got the first capture of this absurdly Freudian slip.

"CNN International's CNN Today program, airing at midnight Eastern, led with the graphic 'Bush Resigns.' Of course, they meant 'Blair Resigns.' Freudian slip on the part of a network accused of anti-Americanism?"

Yep, our pals at the ClintonNewsNetwork definitely suffer from a bit o' the parapraxis, indeed.

It's anyone's guess as to whether this was just plain stupidity or a deeply held wish on the part of the CNN graphics department. Next they'll go back to Xing out the faces of their most hated politicians again!

Ah, the world of unbiased "journalism" rears it's mugly head once again!

CNN International's reporting

CNN International's reporting on the Iraqi when I was deployed there in 2003 is one of the biggest reasons I started becoming less moderate and more conservative in my politics. I found their anti-Americanism vile and repulsive.

Another slip up? Will wonders

Another slip up? Will wonders ever stop? It seems soooo odd that those slip-ups never happen when a DemocRAT is on the screen. That’s ok; remember, Nero fiddled while Rome burned.. Your ratings are in the crapper. Look at the NYT’s: the Titanic of News. I think you can join the band, I think they are meeting on the Poop deck.

I find it so foolish, the people that watch their news are already liberal. It seems to me (call me dumb). But you should try to get the other peoples business…
I ran a bar for 15 years, the customers that were in the seats were mine, and it’s the guy in the other bars or on the street that I wanted…
Business 101. Oh I forgot it’s not a business it’s a higher calling…
The same goofy idea that the Democrats would not debate on FOX. I know it’s to please their base but where is their base going. You could have maybe… maybe… won over some conservatives to your winning ideas like partial birth abortions, health welfare, higher taxes etc…

This reminds of when Fox News labeled Mark Foley as a Democrat after his scandal last year. They did it on two seperate programs. Here is a clip from YouTube. I'm not excusing CNN, but Fox's "mistake" looked much more intentional.

None of these "gaffes&q

None of these "gaffes" have been "accidents". All you prove is Fox has a right-wing agenda, and CNN a left-wing agenda. Duh. Shocking news there. Thanks for reinforcing that truth.

One day soon our "journalists" will discover the consequences of attacking our elected president in wartime! They may plead "no harm done" when that day comes, but show them no mercy! If not for the media and their so-important power this war would have been won already. But because of their lust to keep their unearned power, hundreds of Americans are dying needlessly!
It's not Bush's fault this war drags on. It's the medias fault!

Of course this wasn’t a s

Of course this wasn’t a simple computer glitch. It was obviously the work of some smart ass, who knew he would never be reprimanded, because of the ethos at CNN. Jcrapes4: CNN International’s coverage during the war was indeed shameful, but it paled in comparison to the egregious coverage of the BBC. Their “round table” discussions were usually populated by four left-wing hacks, who would debate the subject of how wrong it was for America to start this war.

Conrad,

Of course no one at CNN will be reprimanded.  Here in Fort Lauderdale, however, political correctness applies for one on-the-job "prankster".

botg,

Sorry, it is a strange kind of local news source.

But it is as I stated it, a Haitian airport employee got a hold of the P.A. system, and quoted a bible verse, you know, the one about the sin of men laying with men.

Gay folks in the airport chose to interpret it as a hate crime, and the guy who did it got fired.

Political correctness, redux.

What in the world compelled

What in the world compelled this guy to quote a Bible verse over the PA system? Or, what made him think that would be an acceptable thing to do? (Would you be ok with it if he had been reading from the Qur'an?)

I don't know how it could be construed as a hate crime, but I certainly don't think it was a good idea.

enemedia

As American companies for the most part, our media COULD HAVE presented a United Front. I'm sure that's what the "Mission Accomplished" banner was really all about!

Our media should have gotten behind our elected president, even if their MBA's discovered that there's profit in opposing him, as well as in supporting long-term world instability!

But their loyalty to their power is much greater than any other loyalties they claim. And islamoterror has taken advantage of this. If the media would have behaved as they did in the 1940's, I'm confident that the "insurgents" would already be history!

Speaking of resigning.......t

Speaking of resigning.......take a look at this speech GW Bush should give. If he did, and if the USA survived until 2008, the Republicans would keep the White House and regain control of the House AND Senate.

But, that is a big "if the USA survived" and I am not really ready to chance it.

While working overseas last y

While working overseas last year, all I had to watch was CNN International and the BBC. It was sickening the spin they put on things, and the democrats complain that we have "lost face" in the world under president Bush. Gimme a break! If it wasn't for the political spin they put on everything American, we would be even more revered (I am sure that this country is held head and shoulders above the rest) than we are today! If it wasn't for my computer and access to "real" news, I would have had a complete misconception of what is really going down in the world during that time period!
