A rocket attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad depressed one of the largest online Democratic communities today, when members of the Democratic Underground discovered that Vice President Dick Cheney survived the attack:

1) The entire argument was that extremists on both sides say horrible things so to single out one side while ignoring the other is wrong and only half the truth

2) All Arabs = Enemies is what the LGF posters were saying and what prompted me to use them as an example of hatred. The fact that you think I said this shows you complete lack of understanding of the conversation at hand. It's almost like you don't read my actual posts, but instead fill them in with words you wish I would say so you could have a retort. I never once said that all arabs are the enemies and it would be interesting if you could point out where you think I said that. I mean, RJ, it's tough for you to argue based on events that never happened.

3) Extremist beheaders = blacks was not the comparison I made. What are you smoking? Good god it seems to me that you are being willfully ignorant on this and I can't figure out why. Again, in your original post you implied that if the generalized hatred against all Arabs occurred after a beheading, then based on that context it could be understandable. Wait, according to the quiz the quotes were from ONE poster. From the screen shot we can see that at least SIX posters on DU were vile. Thus from numbers alone (and initial evidence) it would seem that DU has 6x the hatred that LGF does.

If we really want to do an equation comparison, we'd have to take two comparitive threads (the one Jimmy Carter I think you mentioned sounds reasonable to compare to this one) and then tally how many DIFFERENT posters advocated/expressed a wish for death vs how many DIFFERENT posters condemned/did not. And then you'll need to compare those number to the site's total registry of users.

Of course, then you'll have to punch in some more calculations to compensate for some possible anomolies but the above is where we should start to determine if both sides are equally nutty or if one beats out the other.

I have found in my life that most people that think like the above DU posters usually are very hard to talk with since they cling to conspiracy and feelings not fact.
