The View: Gonzales Has 'No Brains,' But Sheryl Crow Is 'Amazing Activist'

On Tuesday's edition of ABC's The View, the targets included Bush guru Karl Rove and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Gonzales was portrayed as brainless....but singer Sheryl Crow was "amazing," a heartfelt activist. Rosie O'Donnell insisted Crow's toilet-tissue comments were just a joke, not a serious request. First, the conversation shifted mysteriously from being addicted to watching women fight on The Bachelor on ABC to the cluelessness of Gonzales. Token non-liberal Elisabeth Hasselbeck agreed he needed to resign. Snippets included:

JOY BEHAR: I don’t recall, 75 times. If that were me, I’d be in assisted living right now. The guy can’t remember anything 75 times. At the very least, he might have dementia....

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: Why didn’t he know what was going on? And why didn’t he know a thing about the people he fired?

ROSIE O'DONNELL: Because he’s a puppet. He’s a puppet and he was the author of the torture memo...

BEHAR: This guy is like the Sanjaya of the government. He’s like all smiley, and teethy, and you know, no talent, no brains, and he just stays there.

The conversation then turned to another singer, Sheryl Crow and her blog post suggesting her new planet-saving ideas, like using just one square of toilet tissue. Rosie O'Donnell insisted it was meant to be humorous: "It was a joke. She wasn’t really saying everyone use one square. I mean come on. It was a joke. I made a joke, has she seen my fat ass? Of course, that’s like, news story, breaking news, 'Rosie and Sheryl Crow Feud.' We’re not feuding. I think she’s amazing...she’s not only a talented singer. She’s an activist. She’s really working on a lot of issues she cares about."

Look again at the blog post. It seems quite earnest, not a comedy routine, even though you could say that Crow's idea of a reality show that gives the "greenest" contestant a recording contract is obviously wacky.

Behar professed amazement that Karl Rove would suggest that Sheryl Crow wasn’t the same as "the American people" when he was confronted at the White House correspondents dinner. Hasselbeck sensibly noted "Maybe he assumed I’m not working just for you. I’m working for everybody and everybody may not feel the same way as you do. I’m not defending Karl Rove." She said Rove was hard to defend.

O’Donnell professed that with Hasselbeck "dissing" both Gonzales and Rove, maybe she’s coming around: "That’s a victory for America, ladies and gentlemen!"

While I do believe that Gon

While I do believe that Gonzales has become a liability to President Bush, I think that Sheryl Crow was NOT telling a joke about the TP, she was as serious as hell, until everybody laughed about how ludicrous her assertion was, and she became a joke. There is nothing funny, or original from Sheryl, who is still stuck in the sixties, being a flower hippie chick. To think that she was a teacher, is another joke.

Didn't Hilary Clinton not r

Didn't Hilary Clinton not recall something 144 times...almost twice as many times as Gonzales? And she's supposedly the smartest woman in the world? By their yardstick, the women on the view must think that Hilary has ____ for brains.

I think the View would do well to have prepared and researched topics rather than this senseless chatting where the twin idiots make such outrageous claims that go unchallenged.

Thanks Mean Gene,

I forgot about PIAPS aka the smartest women on the planet, for not recalling so many times. Heck she didn't know that her husband had a chubby broad on her knees worshiping the "big he," in the oral, oops, oval office.

The whole toilet paper thing

The whole toilet paper thing is ridiculous. Crow is getting carried away.

But Gonzales...WOW, what an unbelievable performance. Ugh.

balboa,  hey what if we make

balboa,  hey what if we make shirts with toilet paper sleeves?

LOL. Yeah, I'm not buying 'em

LOL. Yeah, I'm not buying 'em!

But Gonzales could use some after all the B.S. he was throwing around. (Sorry, got Gonzalez on the brain)

Meh

I don't know... I was bored one evening, and I watched the entirety of the Gonzales inquisition... DiFi and so many other senators were taking everything he was saying, out of context, and misquoting him on many others. When he [Gonzales] had the written notes of what they [the senators] were talking about, he chose to quote himself in entirety, not just what the limited versions of what the senators were providing.

The bottom line on the issue of the US Attorneys and Gonzales is this: They can be fired, for any reason, at any time. They do not have a lifetime appointment like US Supreme Court justices, and they serve at the leisure of the president. Anyone who b*tches about the issue, is making it an issue. There is nothing to b*tch about. To complain that Gonzales doesn't remember one specific statement at one specific time, is ludicrous. It's nothing more then the liberal left hit pieces of the moment. I can guarantee that any one of us here, cannot remember every single detail of every single action, that we might have taken during an incident at work. The only things that you tend to remember, are things that your brain considers significant -- period. Anything your brain designates as trivial, you will not recall -- unless you have a photographic memory.

Behar and Rosie just both described their own-selves to a tee....

Behar....and you know, no talent, no brains, and he just stays there.

Rosie....puppet...fat puppet, but a leftist puppet.

Just insert the word she instead of he and there you have it...in Rosie's case it will do.

I have testified in court. A

I have testified in court. A lot of the questions are asked just to trip you up or make you contradict your previous statements. And you can bet that they know the answer before they ask the question. If you don't know the answer 100%, then "I don't recall" is your only option. These hearings are just a purgery trap. I'll bet that if I had receipts for every meal Behar ate in the last year and asked her what she had for dinner on 8-3-06, she would say "I don't recall". Especially if a wrong answer meant you just lied under oath.

The questions they were askin

The questions they were asking Gonzalez were a wee bit more important than what Behar ate for dinner.

bal...Not really. This whole

bal...

Not really. This whole thing is a giant waste of taxpayers money and time. This is, and will be a NON-STORY no matter how anybody spins it.

Next!

The liberal MSM has become an enemy of the USA.

So why can't Gonzalez just an

So why can't Gonzalez just answer the question instead of playing dumb? Does he actually think people believe him with all the "I don't recall" garbage?

Who cares? (maybe he really

Who cares? (maybe he really can't remember?)

Meanwhile, appointed officials serve at the pleasure of the appointee, just like they always have.

If he really can't remember

If he really can't remember all the things he "can't recall," then we have quite the mushbrain as attorney general

So? We've had the exact sam

So? We've had the exact same responses from the brains of Presidents, too. One side invariably says "how can anyone believe him" and the other side invariably responds with "who cares?"
JMR

"So?" So the atto

"So?" So the attorney general is a disingenuous doofus. And Bush fell even further in my eyes by claiming how proud he was of Gonzalez's performance.

As long as that description

As long as that description also applies to the President who used the same words, I think my "so" is quite clear... "So" it's the usual Pot-Kettle-Black politics. I'm sure I could dig up someone from a decade ago who was "proud" when Slick managed to bring testimony around to a definition of the word "is." And I'm not defending the administration's response a bit by pointing out this obvious similarity.
JMR

I hear ya'. It's just...so.

I hear ya'. It's just...so...OLD. I hate politics (despite my odd inclination to be on this site all the time).

bal - why should he answer

bal - why should he answer - it's all irrelevant. Why should he give them more to pick at?

Intentionally missing the poi

Intentionally missing the point boa?

I am no fan of Gonzales whatsoever, wished he was gone, I wanted Ted Olson in the first place long ago and posted as such here...he should be questioned, but not about this subject.

This is just a convenient witch-hunt...leftist at work to try to get Rove, Cheney and Bush....anyone with a brain knows it...in fact it is getting so obvious it is getting old.

Btw...half of those virtuous statesman on the left should not even be qualified to be on the judiciary let alone in the Senate...Bars would fit  a couple of them nicely, and I mean looking through them.

Obviously

Obviously, balboa, you did not watch the inquisition of Gonzales. I can say this with great certainty because over 90% of the questioning was repeating what one senator asked, senators cutting off what Gonzales was saying with interruptions and demands that he will not take up their time with answering their questions, as well as absolutely mundane, trivial nonsensical questioning and complete misquoting of statements made by Gonzales, and taking them out of context. It was nonsense, and a complete waste of time.

No -- the questions asked of Gonzales were not more important than what Behar ate for dinner.

The absolute nitwits out th

The absolute nitwits out there like Sheryl, who are media darlings, leave me beyond stupefied. Is it me, or do these people seem to get worse and worse every year?

When was the time you saw any of these people who could even be considered reasonable, let alone beyond something that would be identified as finge?

Mr. Gozales visited us in Baghdad - some six times - just to say thanks, no fanfare, no media coverage. So he means a lot to me, I hate seeing him dragged through this.

Republican congresspersons trying to make a joke of him in public: you ought to be ashamed of yourselves, and I mean it, because you don't make yourselves look better by doing it, and you know there are people who could put you in that witness stand and do the same thing to you, and by the grace of God just because somebody hasn't done it to you yet, it doesn't mean it won't happen.

Democrat: I don't expect anything else out of you. Nothing. Never have, never will.

Hispanic groups: Why aren't you speaking up for the integrity of this man?

MilesDThank you, and bless

MilesD

Thank you, and bless you for your service. I hadn't heard anything about the Attorney General visiting you fine men, may God bless him, and them also. In answer to your question, no it is not just you. These "media darlings" are getting worse by the day. Thanks to this and other websites they are getting exposed. I hate the way they are treating Mr. Gonzalez also, and it pained me to state earlier that he was becoming a liability to our president. Another point well taken, where are all the Hispanics, who are not coming to the Attorney General's defense.

Again, thanks so much for your service.

Miles,I too thank you for you

Miles,

I too thank you for your service and the information about Gonzales visitng the troops.

First I have heard of this.

Btw...another thing I do not undrstand about him, just a small point, he had numerous opportunities to confront DiFi of Ca. and didn't about the letters she sent to him complaining about Carol Lamb's non-performance.

Oh well...got to get out of here for the night....thank you once again.

No, a victory for America wou

No, a victory for America would be to cancel this stupid show once and for all.

Oh, and Elizabeth?  You're not "coming around".  You already arrived at Fatso's mercy.  Wimp.

I kinda think that Elisabet

I kinda think that Elisabeth, has most likely been beaten down so much by the twin fat bitches from different mothers, that she probably has Stockholm Syndrome. And she probably is going along to get along. Not that I'm a big fan, as I get all of my info about the show from this weblog.

They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Those who keep the truth CONTEND with the wicked, they don't brown-nose them with mindless flattery.
