Kos Blogger Mourns VT Mass Murderer As 'Scholar'

"Cho Seung-Hui, I Mourn Your Life and Loss"

So began the rambling eulogy of a Daily Kos diarist.

Here's just a sample of diarist Bcgntn's eulogy. Portions in bold are my emphasis.:

Cho lived in shadows, deep and dark. He attended classes at a prestigious University. He was a scholar, a writer. Yet, he was shunned. His dialect was odd, mumbled, and his words were difficult to discern. This academic was nearing graduation, a scary proposition all in itself. He did not feel excepted in the world. From what we know of his history, he never had.

Thanks to NewsBusters reader hjmick, who noted coverage on imao.us, for the tip.

Update: I don't typically write about things on liberal blogs such as Kos, but given that other Kos diarists have had a field day with conservatives at National Review for voicing concern that no one tried to "rush" Cho to end his rampage, I thought I'd raise the item here.

Ken , I and another also raised the "rush" question on another conservative blog. The firestorm of protest was unsettleing to say the least. Damn were raising sheep.

I've seen conservatives disagree on points raised by Steyn and Derbyshire at NRO and Nathanael Blake at Human Events. The disagreements have been sharp but mostly cordial.

On the other hand, liberals have seized on the matter and hurl the most vicious of invective about how "heartless" and "soulless" Steyn, et al are.

It's an interesting contrast.

About the only thing I can say is "OH MY GOD". I wish this incredible idiot would go to the VT campus and spew such unbelievable tripe to the students in person. VT would make the news again, that's for sure. This time the headline would be "VT STUDENTS BEAT MORON TO DEATH WITH TEXTBOOKS"...

The Closed Mind Builds Strong Barriers

Only evil would mourn the los

Only evil would mourn the loss of evil.

Maybe this idiot should mourn the fact that Cho was given psychotropic drugs which were designed to alter his thinking pattern in an out-patient setting?

"He did not feel excepte

"He did not feel excepted in the world."

This is the grammar police, please pull over to the side of the internet.  May I see your license to write a coherent sentence?

accepted - receive with approval or favor

excepted - to leave out; exclude

So what the author is saying by using "excepted" is that the person did not feel left out or excluded.

I respect your approach to blogs and bloggers Ken, perfectly understandable. I was  just so shocked and disgusted by this blogger's words I had to pass it on to someone. "I mourn your life and loss?" Is this person serious?

It's not so much that as liberal blogs are not part of the mainstream media. Do the MSM read them. I gather that they are read in newsrooms. I'm sure some conservative blogs are read in MSM newsrooms as well, although I doubt the media often take cues from the conservative blogs to the extent that liberal ones influence what they think is newsworthy.

But yes, I think this definitely merits attention.

Ken, for those who are not familiar with Daily Kos diaries, shouldn't you include info on how these work?  Perhaps give a sense of how the Daily Kos community responded to this "eulogy?"

Also, I think your comparison between this anonymous blogger and named pundits at National Review is more than a stretch.

Adding to my prior post, sinc

Adding to my prior post, since the article is being used to make broader statement about liberals (despite it not being obvious that this diarist is a liberal), shouldn't you make the following explicit:

  • the diary came from an anonymous member of DailyKos
  • the diary was never promoted to the front page of DailyKos
  • further, the diary was not "recommended" by fellow DailyKos members
  • commenters on DailyKos were largely was upset with this diary

Good work defending the KOSt

Good work defending the KOStards, Sparky. Freedom of speech is swell and dandy, and a part of the responsibility/burden of that American right is the freedom of being called out for being a douchebag. Ask yourself this, as you peruse the anonymous KOStard rantings tonight, "why am I hanging out on a website were even a minority of the people agree with this idiot?"

I do not go to white supremacist/Klan websites. Do you?

I'm with you bigtimer. I couldn't get passed the first paragraph. "...33 loveable nad fragile people passed that day?" WTH? This idiot is obvioulsy delusional and seeking attention. Perhaps someone should intervene in his life. He may be the next copycat seeing as he is so simpathetic. I say he is pathetic.

Just how mentally ill does one have to be to be a liberal these days?

Update: I haven't ventured into the Kos for some time. I just read through most of the comments on the above mentioned diary.

Having done so, I think we seriously need to bring back mental hospitals-I mean the white van, two guys dressed in white, the padded rooms as well as the straight jackets.

Most of the people over there need to be put in one. And that right soon.

Dave makes a good point - we don't know anything about bcgntn.  Ironically, after making this important observation, he uses bcgntn's diary to make a broader point about the mental condition of all liberals.  Seems like quite a leap.

JMSU,

Leap, you say? I think not.

Doesn't really matter, either, as the current birthrate for liberals (all those abortions, ya know) is so low that they are well on their way to extinction, at least as a political force, any way.

Hell, 20, maybe 30 years down the road, there won't be enough of them left to get Chelsea Clinton elected dog catcher in East Bumblefork, Iowa.

The act of wanton self-extinction definitely qualifies as a mental illness, in my book.

Not to mention the desire most liberals have for harm to come upon their own country. That is insanity in itself.

As this is a thread on the dKos, it's obvious this guy is a liberal. Then compound that with the fact that many other bloggers "understand" where he's coming from. Not such a big leap now, huh?

What?

At one point this brain-dead idiot blathers "...his upbringing, and his problems, were distinctly American..."   Yeah, right!  It's always the American culture that causes a nut-job like him to go ballistic on society!  No need to accept personal responsibility here, is there? No need to make RIGHT choices - no need to own up to problems you have created - JUST BLAME AMERICA! Makes it real easy, doesn't it?

Spoken like a true left-coast, bleeding-heart, 'do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do' liberal.

Never dance on an empty stomach unless it's a liberal.

This woman wrote a very movin

This woman wrote a very moving piece but like all of these Koz Kidz they are missing facts and insight. The VT massacre was a case where the liberal courts of past years went too far in the direction of individual rights versus the greater good.

This kid had a very long history of severe mental illness but teachers and administrators were afraid to act on it because of the risk of lawsuits. This was not even a close call. This kid should not have been in this college and should have been in an institution to help mentally handicapped.

The liberals created walls to safe guard individual rights by keeping the FBI and CIA from sharing information, and instead it resulted in our being defenseless against the 9/11 terrorists.

These same liberals also made sure that the rights of the mentally ill are protected but to a fault. So a teacher is prohibited from even telling a parent what they suspect about their child.

This woman clearly just made up a story since she never met the Cho or his family and people who knew him. Why should facts ever get in the way of good prose?

Aside from various negative

Aside from various negative reactions like "that's creepy" (or "that's scary"!) has this "scholar" ever written anything of note, and then everyone but this genius somehow missed it??

Agreed. Of the few writings that have been relased of this monster, I see nothing but ignorant rantings. Even his videos are testament that this guy probably got into college with "special" help. If I submitted work like this guy's, I'd have been laughed out of class. "Scholar" doesn't fall into the same universe as this monster.

To call this person a schol

To call this person a scholar is misenthropic at best and seriously deranged at worst.

I hope someone put this person on a watchlist.

Cho was a scholar only so muc

Cho was a scholar only so much as he was enrolled at a university. His classroom behavior was so disturbing, that some students dropped the class, and he was ultimately removed for one-on-one teaching.  He was anti-social.  One can't honestly be described as a scholar when one is withdrawn, reclusive, and shuns interaction with faculty and peers.

So long Cho

Cho, we hardly knew you.

Perhaps in another time when foolishness and hatred are even more revered than they are today we would build a tabernacle in your honor.

I was reading some of the post at the Daily Kos. It’s all about feelings over and over. His teachers told him to go back to his country that must have cut like a knife… UGH! This sick P.O.S. killed over thirty people whose only crime was just being there! Yet, these same people will slam our great country at the drop of a hat.

These are the boys of Pointe du Hoc.

Liberals Make Excuses

I only got through a few passages of this sick diary before I came back to NB. This diarist just exemplifies how liberals are moral relativists and make excuses. The diarist plainly says that the guy was "misunderstood," and defined by American societal problems. The writer fails to recognize that the homicidal maniac was a legal alien, not a full, American citizen.

I read some of the comments made to the diarist. I'd laugh if what this person said didn't make me want to throw up. I really am beginning to think that liberals are their own worst enemies. They made all these privacy, civil liberty laws that later bit them in the a%&es as well as those 32 students and teachers.

You've gotta be really a) high, b) sick/mentally derranged, c) isolated to make excuses for someone now in the throes of burning in hell. My God, our military members can't get the same sympathies, only people like terrorists and ...the VT madman.

The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer.  Air Force Motto
