Well, I was starting to feel better about this, and then I was told that the killer went to the post office to send the videotape and manifesto to NBC AFTER he killed the first two at the dorm, and before he killed the rest.

One inquiry: ALL news agencies liberal AND
conservative have aired Bin Laden tapes. What's the difference? Is it
no more irresponsible to air the tapes of this? Where is the outrage?

have had a hard time reconiciling what I think about NBC airing the
tapes. How could it not give the victims or affected nightmares? On the
other hand, as a person I am would clearly be intrigued and curious to
the message and mind of an insane psychopath. I think the videos should
have probably been available only to those who chose to see them,
instead of airing them live on the air.

Except they only played 10-20 percent of his video- chopped and edited. Not a single writer nor Hollywooder could possibly be happy with that. Plus, the failed to publish the 1800 word written manifesto, or even tell us what "other" items they are pouring over as Brian-crookedface on NBC pointed out

 So, we've got a <10% total. Yeah, I bet that dead psycho is happy, since he was crazy he should be, because any sane person would be seriously ticked off. Especially the endless looping of the same moments, when the full 10 minute clip could have been played in it's entirety, repeatedly, many,many times by now.

( I'm glad that everyone has whipped themselves into a blazing glorious fury over it though. It's wonderful watching grown adults go bonkers. )

It's a small thing, really. Whether it should have been shown.  All the majors would have shown it, and I don't think our ignorance of the hatred Cho Punk Hoe flashed onto the screen would have served us well.

We needed to see it, once.  For all its similarity to Al Qaeda, The Hood, The video game, the kid down the street.

Not likely the FBI would have shared much, and there is that likelyhood he's Manson incarnate.  But we have to take back our children, and ignorance is of no assistance.

My answer, yes, but they didn't. They didn't show us the video. They showed us their sanctified little clip cuts of it.

I guess we're all so pissed that Osama bin Laden videos have been shown now, since he is even a worse murderous sob.

 I'm glad everyone proved to me how much they hate the murderer. I'm so proud of everyone. I thought people would like him, but of course, as everyone here rages red, they all tell me there's that person out there, that less than one in a million, who is going to "do it" because of this.

 I'd bet $100 bucks that Cho is blabbing more liberal hate in the rest of his tape. He said he hates xtians and the better off, spewing his two Americas doctrine, and did the burger flipper and buchwhacked lines in his 2 plays.

 My guess is the rest of the video is CORE liberalism, and it is my opinion the liberals have created the monster.

To hope for such a case asthis to be nought is to say it should happen a thousand times a year. When the news stops making this a big deal, it won't be anymore, and then we'll have real problems.

 We have how many famous wackos now ? Charlie Manson is perhaps the most famous. Way back when they had "Jack the Ripper".

My sentiments, exactly, WTH.  NO! NO! NO! NO!

My first reaction was this: who from the post office delivered the "suspect" envelope to NBC???  If, in fact, the postal service realized this was an important piece of mail possibly relating to the horrific crime recently committed, why not give it to their security forces or the FBI instead of delivering it to a news organization?  Rules of the post office???must be delivered???  This is just the first error of judgment, in my opinion.

Secondly, the officials at NBC erred in opening the package.  Again, for the reasons listed above.  Contacting the law enforcement authorities should have been their first move.  Did they not realize they had a critical piece of evidence in a mass murder?  But NO, gotta get the "get" - beat the other networks - show the filth!  GET THOSE RATINGS!!!

NBC should be hung out to dry for giving this demented killer the publicity he craved from the grave.  Too bad he couldn't have followed through with the recommended counseling and communicated his weird thoughts while he was alive.  By airing these images, NBC gave validity to a sadistic madman - the television in our home will never be tuned to that channel again.  No amount of excuses will ever erase those images.

The students, college administrators and local law enforcement officials have all shown such good character and class in the days since they experienced such an unimaginable tragedy.  Seeing such top-quality young people and how they have responded to such a grave situation gives me great hope for the future of our country.

The media could take a few lessons from them.  Watching and listening to the various reporters, I was reminded of the Mary Sunshine flock in the movie, Chicago, where they run from one tragic event (now old) to the new one!  "...and tell me all about it...what did you see...what did you feel when you pulled the trigger??" PUKE!

I commend the students and families and other involved individuals who have said "NO" to any further interviews.  Too bad the media can't respect the privacy of those who are mourning.  They need to be left alone to grieve and console each other so that they can return to their lives without all the prying eyes and microphones of the press!

Most important of all, the president of VT should order all media vehicles and personnel to be removed from the campus immediately - TODAY!  No interviews Monday with returning students "how do you feel today?" "do you miss your friends?" ad nauseum!!!  They honored the Amish in their recent school tragedy and should do be expected to do the same here.

My heart goes out to everyone who was touched by this tragic event...including such innocent bystanders as those of us who knew no one but were shocked and offended by such a horrific crime and the ensuing invasive news coverage.  Gone are the days of reporting facts...our media have become nothing more than scandal sheets!  I am ashamed of our country being presented to the world is such an terrible manner.  We can never stop random acts of violence, but perhaps we can help prevent them by each of us performing instead, random acts of kindness.

I'm planning on sueing every Tv news channel that ever aired Hitler video, and every publisher that ever released Mein Kampf, and of course blaming them for every fascist dictator that arose since. Dialing 1-800-ACLU now.

Not a chance...but you can be sure the reaction would have been different had the package been sent to Fox!  I still maintain it should have been given to law enforcement UNOPENED!

As it occurs, I have done the same thing, more or less. I have not used his name once on my own site and will not. I have called him monster, murderer, etc., but NEVER his name.

I will not contribute to making him famous like HE wanted to be.

I feel the video and photos of this scumbag serve no purpose. He was a mentally ill, sicko and there can BE no "sense" or "resolution" over his actions. They are inexplicable. Showing the video merely allows the world to scoff at the USA once again and encourage others with like mental troubles to act out like the VT killer.

I say bury the tape with the maniac. It does society NO good to see it.

Further, I have not watched the video myself and will NEVER do so.
