LAT Lauds 'Centrist' Pelosi

Those with delicate constitutions should avoid reading the Los Angeles Times's latest puff-profile of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, taken apart by Patterico. Here's an excerpt:

As the highest-ranking woman in elective office, Pelosi is as much a power player as the men who preceded her.

“She’s well-bred, a lady through and through,” said Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (D-Atherton), Pelosi’s friend of 30 years. “But anyone who knows her knows not to mess with her.”

With a father who was a Baltimore mayor and congressman who ran a political machine out of the family’s brick row house, Pelosi cultivates loyalty in ways large and small, much as her father did — keeping careful political tallies, but still remembering birthdays.

She opens her office doors to the factions of her ideologically splintered caucus, instructing staffers to stock the refrigerator and “always offer guests.”

Scroll to the very bottom and see where her voting record has put her, maybe my reading is a bit bad, but I think she is out of the "moderate" column....

"Before I refuse to take your questions...I have a statement.." Ronald Reagan

She didn't cover up enough wi

She didn't cover up enough with her scarf.

Liberalism is a convenient lie.

The old fountain of wisdom could not be more apt here:

Of course, the negatives with Her Speakerness are never something that she does, it's something that happened to
her....she was the victim of "swipes" from the White House, she was "blindsided" by criticism, "derided"....0h, the poor baby. Those damn meanies who just hate someone who's "well bred...a lady through and through."

Gag me with a small eating utensil!!

It continues in today's LA Times:

Nancy Pelosi: the extreme moderate

Despite shrill GOP warnings, the Speaker of the House has proved politically pragmatic thus far.

Summary: It's only the radical right wing neo-cons that attempt to paint her as liberal.

Queen Nancy

Dems used to describe the Nixon White House as the "imperial presidency". Nixon had nothing on Queen Nancy, who fancies herself the most important person in Washington. She is even arrogant enough to try to treat the President, who is admittedly weakened, as totally irrelevant, which he is not. She has been completely unimpressive, but doesn't have the humility to face it.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.
