Welcome to hell global warming skeptics.
That was the message of a two-page "Dante's Inferno: Green Edition" in the May issue of Vanity Fair. That was just part of a full-issue assault in which the magazine unleashed its vitriol against businesses, conservatives and even radio host Rush Limbaugh.
Limbaugh "has blinded millions of Americans to the climate crisis," proclaimed Vanity Fair. The magazine also accused him of "the environmental destruction that he did so much to enable in his multi-decade reign of denigration."
But El Rushbo was far from the only target in Vanity Fair's line of fire.
"It is an ongoing mystery to me why Republican administrations are such wretched protectors of our land, inasmuch as Republicans own so much of it," editor Graydon Carter said in the issue's introduction.
Vanity Fair even assigned industries and individuals to the circles of Dante's Hell.
"Then there’s the final circle – hell itself – containing “Satan, and in his three mouths: Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), former chairman of the Senate Environment Committee, tireless denouncer of global warming as ‘a hoax’ perpetrated on Americans by alarmist liberal media; President George W. Bush; Vice President Dick Cheney, former Halliburton C.E.O., convener of top-secret energy task force, which met with oil and gas executives.”

Are we supposed to ignore the hypocrisy of an over-dressed-to-impress rag that brings in big bucks promoting "vanity" imploring us to go green? As in green with envy?

April 9, 2007 - 17:00 ET by Gat New YorkOne day a corporate CEO is going to call in their head of marketing and the ad agency and ask how important Vanity Fair is in their media plans. The answer will be that it can be replaced or just eliminated without a problem. Hopefully a number of advertiser CEOs in Vanity Fair will recognize how irresponsible this type of editorial is and how damaging it is to their business and kill their schedule with the magazine.

April 9, 2007 - 17:28 ET by danboThe question should be: "Why is vanity Fair such wreched reporters of truth?" In response to their other Green issue in 2006 where they trashed Fred Seitz, an old man who gave his life to science, medicine, and America. Why because he does not believe in AGW and has pointed out the people who disagree.
As Schulz of TCS Daily said. "How Gauche."
Vainity Scare is more appropriate.

Mr. Carter, obviously, doesn’t understand the irony created within his statement, because unless Vanity Fair is now being printed on environmentally-friendly papyrus, he is biting the hand that feeds him.
For it is those ‘wretched protectors of our land’, who own all those trees in the rainforest that will be used to create the paper that his magazine is printed on, thus permitting Mr. Carter to have a job to go to every morning.

That's pretty much correct. Fats Limbaugh doesn't have a clue about statistics and is known for promoting lies, most recently by having the Vice President on.

April 9, 2007 - 19:28 ET by ThisnThatI can only hope and pray that you wrote your comments on a solar-powered laptop within your unheated, no-electricity cabin that you walk to each day. Otherwise, all I hear is hypocracy. Kinda like Al Gore -- purchasing carbon credits from himself to remove the guilt.
Piniella = another Howler Monkey?
April 9, 2007 - 19:51 ET by RJSo what's all this noise coming from this piniella character? Yet another Howler Monkey from the lib blogs?
"The smallish Howler Monkey is equipped with a unique throat apparatus that enables it to make a loud roar like the larger gorilla. If you venture into an area containing howlers up in the trees be advised that the monkeys will harass you by throwing anything they can get their hands on. It's very amusing."

Not that it matters....They're all haters.
But for those of us who've been around for a while...it is really kind of funny.

Whenever I get into a debate
April 9, 2007 - 21:44 ET by BradyWhenever I get into a debate with a liberal regarding the environment I like to ask who the strongest environmental president was? Invariably responses include Carter or Clinton; its sad that so many are so confused.
The modern environmental movement has its roots deep in the 1800s with forefathers such as Audobon and Muir, it streches into the early 1900s with Roosevelt (Teddy not FDR) and Aldo Leopold, and then into the late 1960s culminating in the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency in 1970 followed by the passage of the Clean Air Act (1972), the Clean Water Act (1972), and the Endangered Species Act (1973).
Each of these are hailed by the modern environmental movement and each was created and/or signed into law by Pres. Richard M. Nixon.

April 9, 2007 - 22:30 ET by pbthinkerIf anyone has blinded anyone to the climate "crises" it's Al Gore with his lying movie. The wacko Libs must think they're losing the argument, since they aren't fighting with facts, they're attacking individuals using their usual tactic "the politics of personal destruction."
Their ranting about the nasty Republicans is just a joke, since Nixon did all the things mentioned above and one more he'll never get credit for, affirmative action. Liberals will never give Republicans credit for anything so Republicans should just start taking the credit they deserve and calling the Democrats on their failures. The PR Machine the Democrats have is good, but not invulnerable.
Let's see how the Kerry/Newt debate goes tomorrow. I sincerely hope it ends up on C-Span or You Tube or something since I just believe Kerry is going to get his clock cleaned. I also hope it's done live, so the GW Spin machine can't edit it in advance of the news cycle. We know the Alphabets will have their spin going but, if Newt is on, there's only so much spin you can do.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
