Despite the LA Times assertion to the contrary, I still believe Hitlary Rotten Clintax will be the nominee for the Democrat Party in '08. There is no way that she is going to allow herself to be put in a position to have to play second fiddle to Barack Hussein Obama. No way.
Furthermore, I think it will be the women's vote that just may put her into the White House.

I'm calcing in the wimp factor for this one. My gut is telling me a large number of the American people, not all, but many, do not seem willing to support our continued efforts in the GWOT. Bad news for the GOP. Good news for the security over freedom crowd.
I am also factoring in my considered belief that we have now reached the point where at least half the people in this country are either too stupid and/or too lazy to live in a truly free society. I sincerely believe that fifty years of government-controlled schools have now brought us to this point. More bad news for the GOP. Good news for the security over freedom crowd.
I am seeing too much polling data that is suggesting that most people today think that government should play a larger role in their healthcare. They see healthcare as a right. More bad news for the GOP. Good news for the security over freedom crowd.
As for Obama, he has no chance. Neither does Edwards. That really only leaves Hillary. She will attract the votes of the center-left females in this country because she is selling security (with our money) and they will buy it in a second.

Which will translate to less area covered by water on the island, it displaces more water which raised the sea level world wide!! Its not global warming that will raise the sea levels, but earthquakes!! April 9, 2007 - 11:37 ET by NazarethThis seems like as good a spot as any to post this and goes along with todays gaggle- Got quite a shock today when browsing through my email- seems that msnbc ran a story in their science section about an MIT scientist disputing global warming being man made. I'm still in shock they ran the story- anyway- here is the link. The scientist makes a very good point- we can't even predict next weeks weather, yet somehow the global wamring alarmists are telling us what's going to happen 40 years from now? Guess what? 'Scientists tried to raise temperatures in a model by introducing 'greenhouse gases' and they failed- yet, when asked what is causing global waRMING, they state 'greenhouse gasses' because 'they have no other explanation as to why this highly dynamic system is 'warming'. They also tried to suppress data that showed ealrier warming trends before the industrial age-
This is the most maddening scam to ever hit htis planet, and the most frustrating part is that we have lost hte war against the global warming nutjob alarmists- common sense and facts no longer mean anything- Folks- we should DEMAND that they prove we are to blame before we pay one penny when they start trying to foist their 'carbon credits' and 'global compliance mandates and fines' on us

April 9, 2007 - 11:39 ET by BDYou know, I miss the good old days.
In the 1970's, the North Koreans attacked a US/ROK work party in the Joint Security Area at Panmunjom and murdered a pair of unarmed US officers who were supervising the trimming of a tree which was obstructing vision from one US post to another in accordance with a treaty.
In response, the US conducted Operation Paul Bunyon in which the entire US force on the peninsula went on alert and began operations just south of the border, B-52's orbited south of the border and US warships parked off the north Korean shore at the legal limit ready to open fire at a moments notice.
Then an armed and flack jacket wearing US work part went in, and instead of "Trimming" the branches of the tree that were obstructing the view, they CHOPPED THE DAMN THING DOWN. The nK forces just sat and watched, totally intimidated and were quiet as church mice for several years.
A section of the truck was memorialized in a display at our HQ for all to see and as far as I now is still there.
I propose the same thing should be done in Iran now that they have released the British troops. US/UK forces should now go in and retrieve the Rubber Inflateable Boat that as far as I know has not been given back.
If the boat is not there anymore, a nice Iranian patrol boat will make a nice replacement. If any resistance is met, the full weight of US arms should be sued to quell it.
The Iranians will not even SQUEAK!
I propose calling it "Operation Jolly Roger."

April 9, 2007 - 13:48 ET by BDFast ed:
Common lore from my stay in Korea was that the little thug who instigated the affair and first wielded the ax that killed CPT Bonifas was nicknamed "Fish Face". Fish face was kept on duty at Pan Mun Jom for many years as a poke in the eye of the US forces who had to stand there stone faced as he walked by ten feet away.
As a great blast of karma, the stories that were told in theater was that he was later taken out by an M203 round in the firefight that ensued in the UN portion of the JSA when an eastern european attempted to defect. As the story went, he chased the defector, shooting his pistol on the run and caught the 40MM grenade from the US reaction force straight in the chest.

This article is interesting on many different levels. On one level, she is really saying that common people are okay, just not in her backyard. A total reveal of her liberal elitist mentality. On another level, this is an example of attempting to paint an entire organization with (what she believes) is a ugly example. If we can get the word out on this it will be damaging to pretty boy (not that he needs the help tubing his political career - he's all over that). I, personally embrace this guy's philosophy. He has property rights in this country and everyone can't just trespass at will. Not only that, but he is being displaced from his home due to her hostility. She admitted that she didn't know him, but disliked him. Wow, what a .....!

April 9, 2007 - 21:44 ET by John in CAmtw, Are you serious? Or do you just not understand what Newsbusters mission is? NB'ers exists to address the inherent liberal bias that exists in the media. We are able to discuss the issues of the day as they relate to the reporting, or lack of, in the media.
Despite that, it seems to me that there are wide ranging discussions here at NB'ers everyday.
If you are looking for a straight up issues debate, then maybe you need to look at some other blogs that address those things.

April 9, 2007 - 21:58 ET by John in CABlonde, You've asked for a lot in one comment. Responses might be light tonight, as the site seems extremely slow tonight, and 24 is on.
The Speaker with the head dress on hasn't gotten a pass from the right side of the blogosphere, and as pointed out here at NB'ers, neither from the WaPo. Maybe you want to know why she is seemingly getting a pass from the Administration? Lawdy, I wish I knew for certain. I think when you get right down to it, it's just a political non-starter. Yah, I know. It makes me shake my head also. In a perfect world, that wouldn't happen. Alas, we don't live in a perfect world - especially not politically. After all, when you start out in a hole just by being a Republican President, I'd imagine that sometimes you've got to make calculated decisions on where you are going to spend your political capital.
Add to the Pelosi incident, the wrist slap Sandy Burglar got, the fact that we can't seem to find out who leaked national security secrets to the NYTimes. Seemingly, this President is in a box that fighting his way out of would possibly jeopardize the really big things he needss to get done - like fighting the war. I think the demos, and their media allies, have worked six years to make sure George Bush is in this exact position.
Yes, that's a very unsatisfactory assessment of the situation. It's just the way I see it.

April 9, 2007 - 21:59 ET by saw the lightI honestly have no idea what Rush thinks. I can't listen too much during the week, and even then I only half-listen.
I really don't have a clue why there was not much outrage about the act of war perpetrated by Iran, but since it was not against our country our response is immaterial. Britain really showed its bloomers by not reacting stronger. They should have moved their military ships toward Iran and sent aircraft to (and even into) Iranian airspace. How could Iran complain when they were holding British military?
We are still fighting the GWOT, although much is probably being done covertly. If the democrats achieve any more power in the next election, all bets are off. It will take another 9/11 to bring the GWOT back to the forefront. And if the democrats do win more, that is exactly what we will be heading for.
Pelosi has been given a pass because she is a democrat and the first woman to be speaker of the house. She can do no wrong in their eyes. In mine, she is a traitor and should be tried as such.
"People everywhere confuse what they read in newspapers with news." - A.J. Liebling
Conservatives need to fight back hard
April 9, 2007 - 22:12 ET by nkviking75Blonde, you're right. There is a total lack of leadership on the Global War on Terror. Even the President isn't forceful enough in responding to his critics. The PR war should never have been allowed to descend to this point. W. reminds me of his father, who should have mopped the floor with Bill Clinton in '92. But Clinton tossed manure by the wagon load, and 41 mounted little or nothing in the way of a counter attack.
One favorite tactic of the libs is to throw out as many issues as possible to muddy the waters. Not enough armor. Not enough equipment. Too much money spend on the war. Not enough troops. Too many troops. More troops in Baghdad. Too many troops holed up in Baghdad. The Iraqi government is incompetant. The Iraqi government needs to handle their own affairs. And on and on and on.
It is distressing to see how many people care more about taking revenge on the man who beat back Gore's attempt to steal the 2000 election than putting an end to terrorism. And it is distressing to see the naked opposition of the press, which daily betrays the ideals it claims to support and only gives us all the news that fits their template.
Even more distressing is that the front line of the debate on the conservative side consists of pundits and talk show hosts, and that few Republicans are really fighting with us.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.
I completely skipped the Br
April 9, 2007 - 22:28 ET by John in CAI completely skipped the Brit/Iran situation. You're right, there has been very little discussion of it here at NB'ers. Even when there has been a post relating to the subject, the comments have been relatively light.
One of the problems I see is that it's hard to discuss the issue without injecting some analysis of the Brit's ROE and operational plan WRT the boarding, and then an analysis of the sailors and Marines apparent lack of resolve while in captivity.
First, we don't know what the Brit Navy and MoD position is on what their response should be in that situation. Knowing that would give us some context for the analysis.
I wish I could say with certainty that the United States would have reacted more forcefully in the same situation. I am fairly certain we would have. However, history is not always in my favor on that account.
In 1968 the NoKors siezed the USS Pueblo and held the crew for 11 months. We took no forceful or retaliatory actions. They still have the ship. Now, I was a kid, so I don't know what compelled us to do nothing. All I can imagine is that we were deeply involved in Vietnam and taking military action against NK might have compelled the ChiComs to get even more involved than they already were.
More recently, in April 2001, we had the EP-3 inicident with China. Granted, our plane did land on Chinese property. However, it was a Chinese, rogue jet jockey that caused the whole incident. Why didn't we react more forcefully? I couldn't figure it out myself. Was it because Bush had just taken office and hadn't quite gotten foreign policy principles ironed out? Was it because Colin Powell was SecState and convinced Bush that military action wasn't needed or wise? Had it been me, I would have planted a TLAM right on top of the EP-3. But then I've been told I'm a warmonger, too militaristic. Sheesh, wonder why that is.
