Good Luck MRC
March 29, 2007 - 18:16 ET by pbthinkerThere isn't a day that goes by, when I'm not thankful for MRC and Newsbusters. The Internet has many sites that put out information based on "feelings" where, at Newsbusters and MRC, they let the facts speak for themselves.
Thanks for keeping the press honest, or at least making a valiant effort.

Which has made me furious!
I have always caught it on C-SPAN...until they basically turned into an arm to the DNC quite a few years back!
One thing about it...unless you have been a viewer for over ten plus years, you wouldn't of noticed it much, because they have done it gradually...which they deny when callers state the facts, but it is true nevertheless.

March 29, 2007 - 18:59 ET by winston smithRight, it's like C-SPAN has become wall-to-wal DNC propaganda. You have the usual leftist lunatics calling in on Washington Journal every morning now, then you have coverage of both houses of congress, Democrat, then you have select reprogramming of past political events, usually weighted toward the Democrats. It's rare to see a conservative/GOP event televised by C-SPAN anymore --- other than the obvious stuff like CPAC. But boy, you get the best and most complete C-SPAN coverage when the loonies hold an "anti-war" rally or an anti-Bush symposium ---- with daily/nightly repeats.
And what ever happened to those great morning left/right debates? Coverage of talk radio personalities? I used to have C-SPAN on throughout the morning---now if I see anyone other than Brian, Susan Swain or Steve Scully on the screen I just flip to another channel.
WS...I still flip the channel
March 29, 2007 - 19:45 ET by bigtimerWS...
I still flip the channel if any one of the three you mention are shown...it just depends what the subject is...Steve Scully cuts of the conservatives the most out of the three you mentioned though...
Peter Fenn I detest, Pedro is just well Pedro, and Rob is okay...don't know what happened to Connie, but she is the one who cut off a conservative caller when she was talking about Jimmy Carter being a hypocrite awhille back....
I got through about two weeks or so ago on the Journal...talked to Asa Hutchinson...
Let me tell you...Susan Swain said after Xmas whatever year it was the would go back to their orginal one line thing, they never did. It was after the second election of that POS Clintoon, callers called in and asked when are you going to go back to the original line as promised...she stated she never said that...well she did, I never ever missed the show, and it starts at five in the morning here.
I also miss the newspaper articles you could call in with every morning to start the show with.
The station is a leftist station anymore and it does make me ill, especially as you say, the repeat ad nauseum of all the leftist crap...the filthy crap they spew.

Okay...let me make you feel a bit better.
This time of year, in Fla., we have alot of flowering stuff.
I have a plant called an "Angel's Trumpet"....it is actually a datura plant and poisonous as all get out (belladonna?). But.....
At night, it is scented. And I am sitting inside, with this lovely aroma floating through my window. It would make Chanel #5 perfume smell like cow patties. It is the most lovely thing you can imagine!
So, I can be a tad upset about the internet not working properly....or be thankful for every day I have on this planet with the most lovely things to remind me what it is to live this life!
That's it...I'm done being chirpy. But I just had to share that with everyone.

At 1st I suspected that the broadcast instance wasn't setup properly, or that the link invoked a bogus publishing point. But the server itself isn't responding to pings, which can mean any number of things. DDOS - maybe, but when I hear hoofs I normally think Horses rather than Zebras.

March 29, 2007 - 20:34 ET by SpinyNormanSorry BT,
I'm in a rush. The fact that I can't PING (Send a signal and receive a reply from - the term comes from SONAR nomenclature) the server might have supported earlier suggestions that it was under attack. A DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack, in its crudest form is accomplished by hijacking a bunch of hacked computers (Zombies) and forcing them all to ping the same server simultaneously and constantly. As the server MUST respond to the ping in order to accept commands, it gets choked up trying to handle all of the traffic.
This is oversimplified, but should do. The Horses and Zebras is an old medical school term meaning think the obvious before the obscure.
Hope this helps. Gotta run.

March 29, 2007 - 21:41 ET by liberal_bug_zapperWow, what a bummer, the streaming media was underwhelming to say the least. One should have understood the volume of people that would be coming in to watch from Rush's website. Especially since this event was carried nowhere else.
This should have been multicast (one to many) to a bunch of proxies which would have balanced the load. I think they probably did that, but that they underestimated the number of proxy's needed. There is no way that any organization with any credibility would have succumbed to a DDoS attack. Especially a company who's job it is to deliver content to tens of thousands to millions of people silmultaniously.

Late night update
March 30, 2007 - 01:05 ET by Matthew SheffieldNow that's frustrating. I set up the IRC server and the video feed didn't come through until the very end.
Alas, not my department. The company we worked with told me they had some difficulties with high demand that (supposedly) was attacking many major web sites. I couldn't verify that statement. Not to worry, though, as we will have the ceremony available for download in the very near future.
