CBS Now Farming Out the Bias to College Kids?

Photo of Ken Shepherd.

Looks like "Couric & Co." are looking for summer interns for CBS's "Springboard" program. And college journalism students are in luck, they can write up an original story on global warming to get the job:

Here is how it works. First, create an original story based on one of three topics: climate change; the American Spirit; or Iraq war veterans. These are issues that have all received extensive coverage on the CBS Evening News and at CBSNews.com – but we want to hear YOUR take.

But wait, there's more. The "best submissions will be posted online." I'm curious just how balanced those "best submissions" will be. I for one am relishing the possibility of MRC summer interns dissecting the bias of CBS summer interns. [continued...]

You can read more here. Of course, it's a step up from what ABC did last year.

That network asked viewers to send in evidence of what they considered the impact of global warming.:

Witnessing the impact of global warming in your life?

ABC News wants to hear from you. We're currently producing a report on global warming and want to find out if you've seen differences in your daily environment that you think are caused by climate change.

Well any hopeful CBS intern

Well any hopeful CBS interns better not submit a conservative based story. Then it would be "see ya, wouldn't want to be ya". I'm sure some conservative young folks will try anyway even though they know they will not be chosen.

If they decide to select a "moderate" story, it would still obviously lean left. So I suppose that would be a challenge for some young conservative types.

It's warm outside, I'm afraid

It's warm outside, I'm afraid of ghosts and whatever that MR. Kerry said about the troops. There, I covered all three subjects and I have experience at being an intern. Please pick me cause I haven't had much to do lately, plus I stayed in a Holiday Inn last night!

First, create an original s

First, create an original story based...

"CREATE".... flippin' "create"?

This is a very revealing Freudian slip that shows how the Stalinist degeneration and corruption of journalism continues apace, led by the likes of CBS.

The news is no longer "investigated" or "reported," ...News is now part of the "creative" process.

"Created" like a scene from Wag The Dog. Facts don't matter, only feelings count, so long as they fit in with the preconceived template of left-wing causes and activities.

It's all shite.

Of course, writing an "original" story on global warming would be to actually take a contrary and critical view to the lib***l establishment.

But I get the idea that by "original," they actually mean UNoriginal. They mean creating something that is exactly like the pro-global warming hysteria already manufactured daily by the MSM, such as CBS.

Therefore, here's a challenge for those young people who DISSENT against the prevailing Institutional Leftism which pervades every MSM newsroom...

Young conservatives and young libertarians... I challenge you to "investigate" the money and people behind the Great Global Dumbing hype, send that into CBS.

The answer is socialism. But only if the question is:

"What's the fastest way to impoverish, enslave and destroy people?"

Jack - a REALLY smart college

Jack - a REALLY smart college puke could look through "old" can't be serious blogg posts, cut and paste a GREAT article, and submit it as "ORIGINAL" - that's what's been done at the times, and other great newspapers. Might as well get off on the proper foot!

MRC Interns

What is the application process for MRC interns?

Watching CNN for hours at a time, and occasionally shaking a fist at the screen?

No, JMSU, this is the requirement for an MRC internship.

No, JMSU, this is the requirement for an MRC internship.

Write the same essay as the CNN standards.

Here's my submission.

Title:  "War on Terror Distracts American Spirit Over Talking About the Weather"

Get it?

Sheesh (apologies to MRC by the way)

CBS probably needs more to do

CBS probably needs more to do such with AARP membership instead.

You bet no "conservative" (truthful and well-researched) essay will ever be selected. I know a student who wrote an outstanding essay for his college class. An outstanding essay---well researched, well-written, with a "conservative" bent. Got a "C" from the liberal professor. Devastating to a young person who worked so hard and wrote so well. Our colleges are nothing but liberal propaganda machines, replete with liberals who don't give a damn about students. Their ideology trumps all. CBS's intern program is the same thing--a farce aimed at brainwashing our young.

NEVER,NEVER trust a liberal

Asked this question before -

Asked this question before - weren't bloggs and on-line stories NOT journalism? Can these guys ever make up their minds? (sorry, need one first). This loser stream media need to learn how to REPORT. I know, it's hard, time consuming and generally will lead the "reporter" into areas and facts that don't fit the agenda. THAT is reporting. Back to basics: who, what, where, when, sometimes how and why, but the why could be editorial.

It is too bad that the so called journalists don't take personal responsibility for their actions anymore - too afraid of "offending" sombody, instead of searching for the truth. COWARDS, cowards I say!

We need to re-establish the concept of SHAME! Problem is, it would hurt someones "feelings", and the pc police would not like that!
