CNSNews.com managing editor Patrick Goodenough has a new column reporting that some of the most visible far-left sites attacking Ann Coulter for making a failed "faggot" joke about John Edwards have used their new F-word themselves: "Daily Kos postings have included the word 'faggot' at least three times in recent years, as have other liberal blogs -- without apology, and without generating a furor."
Among the offending bloggers were Melissa McEwan and Amanda Marcotte, the two Christian-bashing bloggers who were hired by John Edwards and then slowly disappeared from his staff. Patrick also found:
Homosexual-rights groups employ a double standard too, it appears.
In its response to Coulter's remarks last Friday, GLAAD not only slammed the author but accused CPAC itself of promoting "discriminatory policies," and GLAAD president Neil Giuliano called on media organizations -- NBC News in particular -- to stop offering Coulter a platform.
Three years ago, however, GLAAD took a rather different approach when rapper 50 Cent told Playboy magazine, "I ain't into faggots ... We refer to gay people as faggots, as homos. It could be disrespectful, but that's the facts."
In that instance, GLAAD responded with a polite -- almost respectful -- press release expressing "concern" about the comments, and inviting 50 Cent to attend GLAAD's annual media awards.

Don't just take Tim's blog at face value. Read the article! The list is far more impressive (and entertaining to boot) than what Tim alluded to here.

March 9, 2007 - 18:05 ET by RJNice try at minimizing the hypocritical behavior of the leftists, Rup. But it's hardly limited to "a couple of Daily Kos posters with too much time on their hands." The left's double standard is alive and well, and even has a double-double standard.

March 9, 2007 - 18:22 ET by Rupert CadellI don't ascribe their behavior to the left as a whole any more than I ascribe Coulter's to the right as a whole. Never did I say this week that conservatives should be ashamed. I'm not even personally offended by Ann's comments, I just think they're yet another instance of her attempt to buttress her lack of insight with attempts at Andrew Dice Clayish humor. Her column does this week after week and it's not a specific word I find offensive, but the fact that she could possibly be taken seriously.
But again, I don't think she's indicative of conservative ideology. And I don't think 50 Cent (!), and some bad hires by Edwards are indicative of anything about liberal ideology. Their actions are their own responsibility.
Wow, I almost sound like a conservative!
Careful, Rup

March 9, 2007 - 20:38 ET by liberal_bug_zapperI think where Tim and Patrick are trying to shine a light is that when all these other uses were happening, no one was making a peep. You'll find no stories and no outrage. Even when someone was questioning the 'faggot' jokes on the Daily Kos, they just said they had to do a bunch of double takes... but when they saw the URL and the orange color, everything was ok.
Those same groups and people are the ones today fanning the flames of mock outrage.... and not because they're really outraged, as it is obvious that they would have reacted long before Ann's remark, no, they're showing outrage for only one reason... politics.
Another thing that you on the left do not seem to understand is that if you don't like what she says... don't listen. I don't like what those idiots on the Daily KOS write, so if I go there and start getting offended, I don't complain... that would be stupid. Seriously Rupert, if I come to your house, and offend you... this is about the only time you should be able to do something about shutting me up. But in all other instances, what right do you have to demand someone else give up their right of free speech?
This is another reason why I totally support the right for Rappers to sell albums about killing cops and calling women whores. And also why I support the right for children to buy these albums. Governments stepping in and forcing them to stop is the government making a law abridging free speech. That is the job for parents. As an addendum to what I just said... I really dislike rap music, and I find the lyrics disgusting. I also will search my daughters room for anything I find disgusting and burn it. I do not believe children have any rights that their parents do not give them.

March 9, 2007 - 17:05 ET by The Wicked ConservativeWhat kills me is the liberal line about holding conservatives to a higher standard. That's how they justify Libby vs Clinton or Coulter vs Maher. The context on Kos wasn't aimed at anyone specific, least of all a republican.

Blarsen you don't get it.
March 9, 2007 - 18:01 ET by Dee BunkBlarsen you don't get it. Ann Coulter was making a joke because of the Grey's Anatomy star having to go into therapy for using the word and that is the only reason she used it. If he had to go into therapy for calling someone fat, she would have probably made the joke calling Hillary fat or something. There is no way anyone could have thought she really thought that Edwards was Gay.
There is no way that the KOS articles were that inoccuous and I don't even have to read them to know that.

But the sensitive little darlings are shocked every time a joke is make back in their direction.

March 10, 2007 - 00:12 ET by liberal_bug_zapperYes Bal... liberals were uttering those words. It's always ok when liberals utter those words.... with the exception of the writers of South Park who bash everyone equally... so liberals do their best to ignore them.
Actually, on a philosophical level, I agree with much of what Matt and Trey have to say. I agree with them on free speech as it is equally applied from them, and I love their quote;
"I hate conservatives, but I really ... hate liberals."
Now, I don't hate conservatives, I save that ire for Republicans, but I do hate liberals as they stand for everything I stand against, mainly, the enslavement of the human race. Taxes and welfare and other causes I don't care for, are just another form of indentured servitude.

And from my POV, it's equally valid for the overwhelmingly lib***l/democrat supporting writers of W&G to use "fags, et al," as a punchline as it is for the conservative writer Ann Coulter.

March 9, 2007 - 21:23 ET by BlazerThe fu$%ing hypocrisy, of that Amanda fu$%ing Marcotte doesn't fu$%ing surprise me in the fu$%ing least. Because if she were to rid her posts of all vulgarity , then there would be little else for her to say.
She is a total waste of her daddy's college money, since it is evident she doesn't seem to have much knowledge of the english language other than using expletives to emphasise her points, what ever they are. She is a total vexation on the soul.
When the whole Edwards blogger thing dropped I ventured over to Paragon to see what this little trollop was about. After viewing several of her posts I felt the need to take twenty showers. I felt verbally violated. She should change her name to Amanda Dice Clay.
Not surprising she would use the word "faggot" in the least, since this is a derogatory term for a man that likes, other men, and she hates all men, even homosexuals. She sounds like Hitler, only not as creative, in trying to endear everyone to her facist brand of feminism.
