CNN Schizophrenic on Job Numbers

Perhaps Janus, the two-faced god of Roman mythology, should be the CNN mascot because the network was certainly double-minded today on employment.

"American Morning's" Ali Velshi called the report "good news" while CNN.com called the same data "weakest in 2 years" on March 9.

"Four-point-five percent as a national unemployment rate is good news for workers because it means more demand for workers and they can demand higher wages," Velshi said.

In contrast, CNN.com reported:

"The gain of 97,000 was the smallest since January 2005, weaker than even the final readings in the two months after Hurricane Katrina that fall."

Talk about a downer. The other main difference between the reports was coverage of upward revisions to December and January figures. CNN.com reported the January revision, but left out December, while Velshi left out the revisions altogether.

CCCN cherry picks economic d

CCCN cherry picks economic data, what a surprise. That damn Bush, he continues to destroy jobs and the economy.

I long for the good old Carter days; cardigans, high unemployment, steel mills shuttering, no gas, interest rates that destroyed small businesses and home ownership, hostages and Billy Beer.

Our individual freedom is directly proportional to our individual responsibility.

Hey Z, you piqued my interest, so I looked him up.

He is not from the Philly area. It's worse: he is from Cleveland...

Rog, it's happened to me a couple of times too....I feel your pain and pass some love on to ya!

LOL!

Keep on keeping on, we all love your SR!

Hell, Rog, it's happened to

Hell, Rog, it's happened to us-all. For example, I reported months-ago (to many jeers, but I was/still-am right) on an open thread the sexual infidelity Newt Gingrich just-admitted today, and NB hasn't even covered it at all. He's obviously-running now, no matter what Newt says publicly, or he'd have just kept his mouth shut about this. I must admit to a "Nixon moment" of uncontrollable-giggling when he said, "I am not a hypocrite!" :)

AP added, among other factors

AP added, among other factors, that we were coping with foreign competition. Another news media lie alert. Our trade deficit decreased 3.8%, economies abroad are strenthening and they are buying more from us.
