Rap Star In Gore Climate Concert Lineup Flies Dinner Across The Atlantic

How is Al Gore going to explain this one? Multi-platinum-selling rapper Kanye West, who infamously said during the Katrina telethon, "George Bush doesn't care about black people" has something else to explain. The AP reports that Kanye asked a restaurant in Cardiff, Wales to fly a chef and a meal across the Atlantic ocean to a Manhattan business meeting this Wednesday for about $4000 "plus travel and accomodation for the restaurant's head chef"  and the addition of lots of Earth-killing greenhouse gases. OK, that seems typical for the music biz, after all, Bono did have a forgotten favorite hat flown first class that was flown from London to Italy for about $1700, but now people are now paying attention to celebrity hypocrisy more closely. Kanye is signed up for Al Gore's Live Earth, which is designed to raise money for and awareness of human-caused global climate change and is the latest giant concert that will save the world. (AP didn't connect the political dots.)

When announcing the concert, Al Gore outlined its purpose and the goals:

“In order to solve the Climate Crisis, we have to reach billions of people. We are launching SOS and Live Earth to begin a process of communication that will mobilize people all over the world to take action,” Gore said. “The Climate Crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement.

Well, Gore got one thing right, it did "mobilize people all over the world." It's mobilizing at least one person to truck a meal over to a helipad, helicopter it to Heathrow, fly it to New York and deliver it to Manhatten just to make Kanye happy.

Since Kanye hasn't made a statement about this special delivery yet, I'm sure that the jet-setting Gore will explain the excuse celebrities use so they can continue to live the pampered celebrity life-style while ranting about man-made global climate change scheme known as carbon offsetting. Or maybe Kanye will just go gangsta and tell people to "step-off" and keep flying food around the world emitting choking clouds of deadly greenhouse gasses while promoting the danger of other people emitting choking clouds of deadly greenhouse gasses. I would certainly respect Kanye more if he says, "yes, I'm going to do it. I want the food, and I'll probably do it again" rather than issue an apology and claim he didn't understand the horrible damage it would cause Mother Earth. We'll see if he stays gangsta or if he emulates celebrities like Gore, Cameron Diaz and Laurie David, who pretend that carbon offsetting doesn't erase the stink of hypocrisy.

Beyond this hypocricy is the hypocrisy of these fund-raising concerts. These entertainers give a couple hours of their time (to the accolades of the smitten media) while getting the weak-minded "little people" to actually pony up the money. I became a fan of Drew Carey, when he said that he didn't believe in "fund-raising concerts". If he believed in a cause, he wrote the check.

Bruce is great- enjoy reading his stuff in the Wash Times NWE. I would definitely vote for that ticket! Or how 'bout this double-whammy: Williams and Sowell! Actually, I'd love to see Dr. Sowell as the Secretary of Education!

The Department of Education

The Department of Education should not even exist (Among other federal bureaucracies...) that way he can stay in the productive sector. Mallard has yet to address Williams' response mentioning the unmentionable candidate, but I suspect when he does he'll mention antilibertarian bias. And speaking of said bias, I once-again ask: did ANYone watching CPAC see/hear ANYthing from Dr. Paul, or hell, even from Tancredo for that matter? When it's not just the obviously-biased media but even an avowedly "conservative" group trying to pre-coronate "Rudy" before any "debate," it raises my suspicion-level over the "process." Considerably...

I'm not yet sure about Tancredo, but it appears Dr. Paul wasn't seen at all on C-SPan TV during CPAC, even though he attended. I wish I could say I'm surprised (or better-yet, wrong!) but such is life, this is typical, and at least it's still early, and he's allegedly in at least one debate soon, which might be harder to ignore for TV, but we'll see...

The press would probably treat it the same way they treated the story of the bear that was shot out of a tree and landed on a trampoline. The media would run the story over and over while laughing and cracking jokes. However, there is a Williams ticket that is viable. Paul Williams.

Imagine a Paul Williams ticket and the media reaction THAT would cause! It isn't as crazy as one might think. As an actor and songwriter, he's probably good with words and communication, which is half the job as Prez. Since he had the ability to deal with both Burt Reynolds' and Jackie Gleason's egos, I think he could make progress with Hugo Chevez and Kim Il-Jung.

In addition, since he co-wrote The Muppet Movie's "Rainbow Connection," he could probably use it as his campaign theme song, and later, use it as President. Wouldn't that be an amazingly positive and unifying message for all Americans? He also wrote "You And Me Against The World," which could be the background music for for foreign policy press conferences and plus, I bet he stll has some of those sweet leisure suits from the Bandit movies, so he wouldn't need to spend much money on clothes. I certainly want Dave Barry

I certainly want Dave Barry in (and various talking-heads from the biased news media out-of!) the upcoming "debate." (Hmm. Actually, with Dave involved I think I might remove my "scare quotes" -- assuming a bland moderator like Brian Lamb of C-Span!) Dave's an unknown taxpayer-hero both for his hilarious IRS-series of columns and for his unrelenting and finally-successful attack on the Texas US Strategic Helium Repository (gotta keep them military-blimps in the air in a nuclear age, after all!). And Dave's blog is hilarious just-about daily...

Actually, the "little people" aren't so "little".  I used to work for a man that attended these types of functions.  He takes private planes everywhere he goes.  And of course has his own luxury sedan and driver. The people that attend these concerts are just as hypocritical (and rich) as the people sponsoring them.

Not surprisingly, Kanye's spokeman says that the meal wasn't for him and was the production company's idea. Since Kanye is so concerned with New Orleans and its redevelopment, why didn't he fly in a special dinner from NOLA? And why is he getting Indian food from Wales. That's like going to Rome for good Norweigien pickled-herring.

This goes to underline who is

This goes to underline who is consuming the earth's resources in a frivolous manner on a vast scale that even 20 or more Americans combined could consume.  Never mind, the other billions of people who whose individual standard of living would probably not even add up to the amount of energy this self absorbed moron uses for just this occurance among many.  The question to be asked by the masses is this:  Why should 95% of Americans (285 million)who only own 30% of it's wealth be asked to sacrifice when the 5% (15 million) who own 70% of the wealth and spend much of it, especially on energy?  If Al Gore and his buddies would cut their energy consumption to match the rest of us, energy consumption in the residential sector would drop by at least 50% and that's a big deal.  So Al your choice is either to drastically cut your energy consumption or put up solar panels and windmills and use geothermal heating and cooling to reduce your carbon crater prints.  How about it Al?  Are you going to reduce your consumption, increase your use of alternative energy and stop the phoney carbon credit scam?????

The real hypocrisy here is that just like with the Bill Maher/Cheney flap the MSM and the global warming alarmists fail to hyperventilate about how Al Gore and Kanye West are NOT "walking the walk" but take every opportunity to cast GW skeptics as Holocaust-deniers.

To paraphase Orwell:

It is not that everyone is equal. It's that some are more equal than others.

Al Gore, Kanye West, et al, think they are more equal than the rest of us. Thus, they do not see themselves as being subjected to needing to sacrifice or cut back on their extravagant fossil fuel-burning, carbon-emitting lifestyle choices. In their eyes, the whole problem is the rest of us with are decidedly unextravagance who need to cut back.

This loser is a racist, period.  West is the perfect example of the "I Hate America Crowd" that we see too often in Hollywood and in the music business.  This hyprocisy isn't surprising in this situation with the hypothetical notion of "Global Warming."

Who cares what showbiz and musicbiz think, where we as Americans can hurt these idiots is by not buying their sexist and racy rap crap albums.  As the media reported last week, rap sales are plummeting and that's all good news for us....  So do us a favor moron, stuff a sock in it....
