All that yipping and yapping does not change the fact the thousands of illegals, many (but not all) coming from Mejico, and are having their babies at the expense of US taxpayers like me. In 2005, well over 380,000 "anchor babies" were delivered in the USA. If we gave all of those mothers $500 apiece, that would be almost $200 million dollars spent.

It's not bigoted. It's about respect. Illegals show ME no respect by breaking the laws of MY country, using, no, DEMANDING MY resources, respect, privileges, and benefits, without the simple courtesy of following the rules, the same rules my great-great-grandparents did when they came into this country.

Since I have no idea when you are going to answer, I’ll answer for you.   

You are talking about Jose Padilla, who was indicted in November of 2005.  But we’ll come back to him in a minute. 

Instead, Frank, I want to address this comment you made to me.

Your post is insulting and vile - you don't deserve an answer.  Go back and play with the rest of the maroons.

Frank, I’ve never said anything to you personally that is this uncivil.  Every time I have addressed you on these pages I’ve discussed the substance, or lack thereof, of your argument.  If you are offended that I think moveon.org or notinourname or democrat underground are “boogereater” sites, fine, say so.  But don’t act like I’ve attacked you personally, as you did me above.  If you want our debating on this site to get ugly, like I have done with rhayes or libertyordeath, I’ll be glad to.  I personally feel that your worldview, from what I’ve seen on these pages, is destructive and naïve.  So, as such it is easy for me to add insult to my substantive critique of your positions.  Keep it civil, Frank.  I’m trying.

Now, Padilla.  Andrew McCarthy at National Review makes the case for his being detained as an enemy combatant very well.  Despite how you try to portray him, here’s how Padilla should really be portrayed by the Useful Idiots.  Says McCarthy (bold emphasis mine):

“Padilla, an American citizen and multiple prior felon with a juvenile murder conviction on his résumé, moved to Egypt and adopted militant Islam after being released from prison following a 1991 Florida weapons conviction. According to information proffered by the government to the federal district court, he traveled through the Middle East, eventually teaming up with al Qaeda in Afghanistan. In 2001—long after bin Laden had already declared war against the United States, simultaneously bombed our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania (killing well over 200), and attacked the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen (killing 17 of our military personnel)—Padilla is said to have proposed to one of bin Laden's most intimate aides, the infamous Abu Zubaydeh, a plan to steal radioactive material within the United States in order to build a dirty bomb (or "radiological dispersal device"). Al Qaeda made available a safe house in Lahore, Pakistan, for research on the project, provided Padilla with the necessary training for this and other terror operations, and then dispatched him to the United States to make mayhem.”

Padilla landed in Chicago in 2002 and was promptly arrested based on this evidence.  Now, Frank, I don’t know if you’ve put two and two together, but my wife and I, along with my in-laws and many good friends, live and work in Chicago.  And when someone, as in Padilla’s case, lands in my backyard with the intention of detonating a nasty chemical or biological device, I expect my government to defend my family and friends.

Here’s where many of your ilk seem to be clueless.  When a government has it on good evidence that someone intends innocent citizens harm as Padilla has by the above illustration, it ceases to become a law enforcement issue and becomes an act of war.  And the rules of war different greatly from the laws that govern civil society, ie, the civil liberties defended by the Bill of Rights.  

McCarthy continues: “….One week after the September 11 attacks, Congress passed a joint resolution, broadly authorizing the president to ‘use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.’”

Further, there is precedent that American Citizenship is not by any means a loophole to avoid detainment and military tribunal as an enemy combatant.

McCarthy (again, bold emphasis mine): “A case that did deal directly with that situation was the aforementioned Quirin. There, Nazi operatives, including one who claimed to be an American citizen, stole into the United States by ship, shed their uniforms upon hitting the shore, and spread out to conduct sabotage operations against war industries and facilities. They, like Padilla (an American citizen), were captured before they could execute their designs. Importantly unlike Padilla, who at the moment is merely being detained, they were both detained and subjected to military tribunals. When they challenged that treatment, the Supreme Court ruled that, regardless of citizenship, persons who aligned themselves with an enemy and sought covertly to harm the United States in our territory while hostilities were ongoing could be declared unlawful combatants and subjected to military tribunals.”

I find it offensive that people on the Left, Frank, try to make the case by inference that George W. Bush is rounding up Carol Brady and June Cleaver, yanking them from Pleasantville in the middle of the night as the children cry, and send them to Gitmo to be waterboarded.  When you posted this comment,

that is exactly what you were trying to imply.  Its really weak and its pathetic, to be honest.
