Left wing inflammatory comments continue on The View. On the February 28th edition, co-host Joy Behar lashed out calling the American people "to really wake up and understand that they [the Bush administration] are liars and they are murderers."
Token non-liberal Elisabeth Hasselbeck tried to insert some common sense and stated that "some fringe liberals are taking this to a place to where we’re losing sight on the issue here." Behar, who just called the Bush administration, "liars" and "murderers" adamantly denied she’s a "fringe liberal" and said it’s "name calling."
The ladies discussed the Bob Woodruff special, To Iraq and Back, and shifted to the policy of not filming the arrival of coffins at Dover Air Force Base. The transcript is below.
Video clip (35 seconds): Real (1 MB) or Windows Media (1.16 MB), plus MP3 audio (180 KB)
Story Continues Below Ad ↓Hasselbeck: "Rosie, I hear you. I agree with you. I'm saying I think the recall on those photos was just a reaction to the fact that people were using them as false propaganda."
O’Donnell: "It's not false propaganda when there are dead human beings inside those coffins."
Hasselbeck: "I'm not denying that."
O’Donnell: "Every other president has met the bodies and attended the funerals."
Hasselbeck: "He should be there."
O’Donnell: "Every other president has. This is the first president that has not."
Hasselbeck: "He should be there."
O’Donnell: "It is a disgrace. This administration is a disgrace."
[Cheers and applause]
O’Donnell: "It’s not democracy."
Behar: "That’s right. I agree with that. I don't want add fuel to the fire, but I don't know what it’s going to take for people to really wake up and understand that they are liars and they are murderers. I’m sorry."
Hasselbeck: "Well, here’s the thing too. I think right now we need to be concerned too, and everybody is saying ‘oh it's early in the time of the election and it’s early to look at anything.’ We need to really pay attention to who our next leader is going to be, because we’re in this war, whether we want to be or not. And whoever's going to take the place of President Bush, they're going to determine our security for the rest of, probably this century. And they need to, I mean, we really need to have a keen eye on this election. It concerns me."
Behar: "In addition to all of this, I don't understand how you can still support this administration. After the Katrina incident, after the incompetence that took place there, after the incompetence and the lying about this war-"
[Applause]
Behar: "I don't understand it. I don't understand it, explain it to me, what is it that you still are backing them for? What?"
Hasselbeck: "I am, I don't believe that I'm in a place right now that I was three years ago in terms of this administration."
Behar: "OK. Alright, alright."
Hasselbeck: "I believe that I have a more discerning eye in terms of what's happening in this war. But I also feel as though some, you know, fringe liberals are taking this to a place where we're almost losing sight on the issue here. I’m very big on national security."
Behar: "I don't consider myself a fringe liberal."
Hasselbeck: "I don't think you are."
Behar: "I consider myself a mother, a woman, an American citizen, a patriotic American."
Hasselbeck: "That's me, too."
Behar: "And I see what's going on-"
Hasselbeck: "Right, I do too."
Behar: "So I don't even like the use of terminology like that, a fringe liberal. That's like name-calling."

The president does not attend funerals for a good reason, it distracts from the service itself. What good purpose would it serve?
President Bush meets with the families of our casualties, including loonies like Cindy Sheehan at later times when it will NOT impact the ceremony.
Regarding photos of coffins returning from Iraq getting filmed at Dover AFB. When will the press begin filming the coffins of journo's returning to the US? When will they stake cameras outside of funeral homes of the journo's killed overseas, stick the microphones int he face of their families and make insulting comments?

Calling this administration "liars" and "murderers" is somehow NOT name-calling in Joy's mind?
She brought up Katrina...they always bring up Katrina...look, if you live in a city on the coast that is 30 feet below sea-level, surrounded by the Mississippi River and a huge lake held back by aging levees and you ignore all the warnings that one of the biggest hurricanes ever is quickly approaching and you decide to stay at home is not the government's fault. It's your own damn fault. New Orleans was a great city to visit with the music, food, and atmosphere but, you couldn't pay me enough to live there--before or after Katrina.

My wife and I raised good children, or so we thought. My son has been influenced by our liberal society so much that my wife and I are having to raise our granddaughter.

My daughters are 2 and 4, one of my biggest concerns is they if disregard the values my wife and I are trying to instil in them like: the value of hard work, personal responsibility, accountability, charity, unconditional love, kindness, generosity, sharing, and that every choice has a consequence. Society is working very hard to suppress all of these virtues, if successful it will destroy our nation. I fear for my children.

March 1, 2007 - 15:10 ET by Chicago RepublicanGene, as a guy who has lived the majority of his life in coastal Florida, the whole reporting on the Katrina disaster offended me. Never has the Federal Government's role in disaster relief been so unfairly criticized. I wish I had saved the article from the Pittsburgh paper that compared the Federal Government's response in Katrina to other hurricanes, it was comparable and in some instances improved over past storms, but not reported that way. How many devestating hurricanes have hit my home state, and have you ever seen such incompetence on a local level there? yet somehow the Useful Idiots will never tire of finding things to Blame Bush for. The entire Katrina disaster - that is, the aftermath was a combination of a failure of personal responsibility that you reference above, and LOCAL idiocy. My wife loves New Orleans, and I told her until that bigot Nagin is voted out of office, I'm not going.

Re the President not attend
February 28, 2007 - 16:54 ET by motherbeltRe the President not attending funerals. We've had 3000 soldiers killed. How many funerals does Joy think he should attend? All of them? Some of them? Which ones, officers, NCO's, enlisted? An equal number of each? Does she think jetting all over the country attending funerals is the best use of the President's time? I can see it now: "While the stock market tanked and President Ahmedinejad of Iran threatened to incinerate New York City, President Bush attended three more funerals...."
I read something some time ago that made sense regarding the funerals. The commentator (can't remember who it was) said that the President can NOT be seen publicly grieving over the loss of soldiers in a war. Because then our enemies would see how much it grieves him, and they would know that he had not the stomach to maintain the battle.
Someone please tell Rosie that President Clinton did NOT go to Dover to meet the bodies and attend the funerals of dead soldiers. In fact, during the Clinton administration, taking pictures of the coffins was ALSO forbidden, just as it is now. And to have Elizabeth Hasselbeck fold like a cheap umbrella and agree with Rosie ("he should be there") proves that they need a much stronger conservative on this show. Or they should give up the pretense of trying to have a balance and just bill it as a liberal free-for-all.
And finally, I wish someone would tell ALL these women that just because they are on TV and have free rein to talk, that doesn't mean that they actually have anything worth saying and listening to. But Behar and O'Donnell know that they can throw their bombs like drive-by shooters and say things like "liars and murderers" and "It's not democracy" and there won't be any argument (not while even Elizabeth Hasselbeck wants to be "accepted").
Their fifteeen minutes of fame expired LONG ago. All in all, I don't think any of them have the mental power to discuss anything other than Brangelina, TomKat, and what's on Entertainment Tonight.

February 28, 2007 - 22:47 ET by GalvanicYou're exactly right, motherbelt. Presidents egnerally don't attend individual KIA funerals because (1) they don't have the time to visit all, and (2) the extra security and celebrity that accompanies his presence distracts from the funeral.
But O'Donnell's claim is a lie on its face, and if Hassleback were even modestly equipped to confront O-D and Behar, she would've thrown it back in her face. For instance, she could've asked O'D how FDR attended the funerals of 300,000 KIAs, especially since most were buried overseas. Or Harry Truman during Korea. Or LBJ and the Vietnam KIAs.
Loudmouth O-Dee has apparently decided that thisPresident must attend all the funerals, and then retroactively credited past Presidents for doing this, when they in fact have not.

Bill Clinton's inactions in Rwanda
February 28, 2007 - 17:34 ET by Carl KolchakHow about documents from the Freedom of Information Act that show Rosie's hero Bill Clinton's inactions with the genocide in Rwanda? I wonder if Rosie was calling Bill or Al liars.
Checkout this quote from the link which examines documents from the Freedom of Information Act.
"Since August 2001, formerly classified internal Clinton Administration documents have been made available following a Freedom of Information Act request made by the independent National Security Archive. 85 These memorandums, telegrams, working papers, reports and briefing documents confirm the worst apprehensions about how a superpower develops and applies a foreign policy in which its own strategic interests take precedence over the lives and the peace of a country, its people and whole regions of Africa. Reading them makes one even more cynical about the hollow apologies made by US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in December 1997 and by President Clinton in March 1998."
But then again it was Bill Clinton and Al Gore, and the left wing MSM or left wingers on tv, can't say anything bad about them.

Behar - so who's lying now?
February 28, 2007 - 17:37 ET by Gary HallSo Behar states that President Bush is the first American President that has not met the bodies and attended the funerals? Is she telling the truth?
Side-bar: I think the evidence shows that President Bush has privately spent an extrordinary amount of time visiting with the families of those killed and injured, and in visiting the injured servicemen and women. He does this with as little attention as possible - it's private issue for this deeply caring man.
A quick search around the web-waves seems to bring up a few consistent themes. Numerous sites mention that the only service of military dead Bill Clinton attended was a service following the Cole bombing. It seems that this was a memorial service - not a funeral. Did he greet the returning bodies as they arrived back home, as she inferred? Did he meet the bodies and then attend the funerals following Black Hawk Down? There were military dead in the embassy bombings in Africa. There were military dead in those terrorist attacks. Did Clinton meet the bodies and attend the funerals? Did Clinton show up at the site of the first WTC bombing in 1993 to honor those killed in that attack?
According to one source, History News Network at George Mason University, LBJ attended the funerals of two soldiers killed in Vietnam (that would be out of some 30,000). Nixon, it states, did not appear to attend any soldiers funerals during his term. Amongst Reagan, Carter, Ford and Bush #1, the evidence seems like few if any individual funerals were ever attended.
It's looking like Behar might just be spouting off. I'd call it simple name calling.
Speaking of name calling - I consider calling people liars and murderers name calling - especially if the name caller considers it only appropriate when smearing those in the other political party. Behar might consider calling Bill and Hillary Clinton liars. After all, now since David Geffen has confirmed not only do they lie, they do it with "such ease that it is troubling," she doe not need to do much deep research here to find out what most of us knew all along.
And murdering? Same as killing, is it not (my bold)?
....The "leader [Bill Clinton] of the free world" waxing oh so eloquently: "'We're not inflicting pain on these fuckers,' Then, with his face reddening, his voice rising, and his fist pounding into his thigh, he leaned into Tony [Lake], as if it was his fault. 'I believe in killing people who try to hurt you. And I can't believe we're being pushed around by these two-bit pricks.'" --George Stephanopoulos writing about the Somalia Crisis in "All Too Human," page 214.
Some accounts put the civilian death count at well over 1000, following that threat from Bill Clinton. Some 800,000 died in only 3 months time in Rwanda - many think that Bill Clinton could have done something to save many of those lives - many think that he actively prevented any effort to stop it (see Carl's links above). Same deal for the Congo were millions more died in the late 1990's. HRW claimed that 500,000 children died as a result of the sanctions in Iraq -scanctions that Clinton so fervently supported. And how many more civilians died in his 5 named military campaigns in Iraq? Thousands perhaps. And in Kosovo?
Name-calling is name-calling. And lying is lying, Joy Behar
And for Rosie O'Donnell - "Every other president has met the bodies and attended the funerals. This is the first president that has not." I could easily collapse into a fit of name calling here. Proove it Rosie.
Well put, Gary.No President
February 28, 2007 - 17:52 ET by Mean Gene Dr. LoveWell put, Gary.
No President has ever had the time to visit more than a couple military funerals if at all nor do they have the time to "meet" the bodies returning in coffins. It doesn't take research to understand that fact either, all it takes is a bit of thinking and using common sense. Which neither of these women seem capable of employing. The fact remains that they allow their complete and utter hatred for Bush blind their minds to truth and soberness...they are so drunken with their own rage that their reasoning and answers to everything is that "it's all Bush's fault" or "Bush is evil." And these are the same types of people that want us to see the good in everything.
It really is amazing that people continue to give them any credence.

It used to be evil would affect our culture bit by bit like a frog in water that so gradually gets hotter that the frog doesn't realize it until it's too late. But now the increase in trash is dramatic enough that the frog will leap out at once.
I guess Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, FDR, and Abraham Lincoln are all murderers too. (Oops no not quite. Two of them have D's next to their names in parenthesis so they can't be, right Joy?).
We see the same Democrat platform in 2004 (Viciously attack and demonize the Bush administration) will also be the same ENTIRE platform of theirs for 2008. Only about hundred times more hateful and psychopathic. Democrats care about NOTHING but winning elections. And they'll resort to ANYTHING to achieve that sole goal.
If only enough people would be outraged by Behar's insanity to refuse to watch the "show" anymore. But like the Beatles parody on Rush Limbaugh's show said, "We all live in a mellow apathy. A mellow apathy. A mellow apathy." And Bill Bennett's apt book title: "The Death of Outrage."
By the way, Newsbusters is so right on target to characterize Elizabeth Hasselbeck as a "token non-liberal". That's all she is. Here she talks about fringe liberals and then tells Joy, "I don't think you are." Knock it off, Elizabeth. If calling the Bush administration murderers and Donald Rumsfeld Hitler isn't on the fringe then what on earth is?

February 28, 2007 - 20:43 ET by chessplayerSo calling the Bush administration liars and murderers isn`t name calling?
No, calling someone an idiot is name-calling.
February 28, 2007 - 20:54 ET by acaiguanaNo, calling someone an idiot is name-calling.
Stupid, Chimp, out-of-touch, stubborn, secretive, a liar, and a host of other things is name calling. That focuses on perceived behavior. It cheap, dirty and disrespectful and denegrates the recipient. It is very much High School crap.
But calling someone a murderer is an accusation of really vicious criminal behavior reflecting evil intent.
That's crossing the line.
It's OK to disagree with one over policy. The level of hate shown by the far-left wing kooks (and I don't include even most of the Trolls who visit us here in that bag) far surpasses any rational baseline for political speech and behavior it is mind-boggling. I mean these people do not know President Bush personally. They have no idea about him personally.

Liars, maybe, but lying isn't
February 28, 2007 - 20:59 ET by mostlymoderateLiars, maybe, but lying isn't necessarily exclusive to the Republicans. Murderer? I don't think so. If you want to talk about lying, ask the Democrat's about all the promises they made before their 2006 elections--the ones they have already broken. I was REALLY praying that the Democrat's had a *real* strategy to make things better in Iraq and to get out. They have nothing.

February 28, 2007 - 21:13 ET by QueenMumYa know, this isn't funny anymore. Calling the leaders of your own country liars and murderers on national t.v. is not something to be taken lightly. After all, as the libs like to remind us, we are part of a global community. I wonder how our enemies will use this sort of sound bite to encourage each other. I'm truly saddened that young women in our country think that this sort of programming is worth their time. Not to mention that many of those in the audience are watching with their young children nearby. Sort of reminds me of those videos I've seen of jihadists training up young children to hate the Jews and the "infidels".

February 28, 2007 - 21:25 ET by HumanEventsThat's right, Queen, there's nothing funny about this at all. It's not just disgusting, it's evil. Like when Alec Baldwin said on Conan O'Brien that if we were in another country we would all go down to Washington and stone Henry Hyde to death, stone him to death, stone him to death! Then while the immoral libs in the audience cheered and applauded Alec said SHUT UP! SHUT UP! I'm not finished! We would then go to his house and kill his family and his children!
This slimeball tried to say later that he was "joking" but even if it was a joke (which it clearly wasn't because he was boiling mad) there's absolutely nothing funny about stoning Henry Hyde and his wife and kids to death.
I have never watched an Alec Baldwin movie since then and I never will. And I will also never watch "The View" either.

February 28, 2007 - 22:34 ET by motherbeltFrom a "mother" to a "Mum": I agree wholeheartedly. But what do you expect when the woman who would become Speaker of the House publicly calls the President "oblivious" and "dangerous"? Or when Sen. Harry Reid calls him "a liar and a loser"? And Sen. John Kerry calls Republicans "despicable", and the Bush administration a "lying bunch of crooks". These are their role models so what would you expect from the airheads of "The View Crew"??
"Name-calling"?
February 28, 2007 - 21:46 ET by KenoToo bad Joy feels she's being called names, especially after calling the Bush Administration "liars and murderers"? I guess in her mind that's not name-calling, but classifying or identifying or some other moronic excuse for her pathetic take on the world. ABC and Barbara WaWa should be ashamed of themselves for continuing to air this farce of a tv show!

I keep telling everyone the libs are insane
March 1, 2007 - 10:14 ET by SportPoliticsI keep telling everyone the libs are insane. It's almost the whole democrat party at this point. I don't understand how that many people can all be that deranged, that openly, all at once.
I have heard a few elder democrats ( in person) declare that their party has gone insane, but it seems it is confined to only the oldest members that even notice it outright.
Is that what so many decades of crap post 60's has created ? A whole base of our population that is at the least extremely paranoid and therefore neurotic, and often completely devoid of a grasp on basic realities ? How long can they live in their fantasy world, and still expect the rest of us to consider them worthy of being outside a rubber room.
I wonder if any of them will ever give up their victim mindset, which explains well why they have this constant disconnect with reality, and a sensitive hypocrisy shield about them.
Wasn'tit great when Dick Cheney said the democrats stance on the war is in line with Al Qaeda strategy, and Pelosi had a big bit*h fit, and demanded an apology for the phantom unpatriotic name calling, and Cheney said he meant what he said, he is correct, and that's it,no apology. That is exactly what these stupid liberals need. I'm glad Cheney is a real man and didn't cave into the crybaby guilt ridden Pelosi.
It's about time the Cute republican blonde unloads on these left wing idiots on The View, but I can see that isn't her style, but I still wish it would happen.
Dick Cheney ought to be put out front and center to tell these jerkoff democrats what's up all the time.
Hey Pelosi, your plan is exactly what Osama bin Laden wants. Nancy the insane " Stop calling me unpatriotic- apologize now! "
I mean that says it all. They're so freakin insane, everyone of them.

March 1, 2007 - 11:03 ET by spiderdanI think it's time to "Dixie Chicks" that show and boycott their guests. Anyone appearing on that peek into the septic tank of society hawking a book or movie needs to know legitimate Americans will not be spending money to purchase the book or a movie ticket. Once the guest list dries up to little more than a circle of utter morons, sponsors will abandon that assortment of dog crap in droves.
I do suspect, however, sponsors of the network really don't have a choice which shows their ads will run -- they buy block time during certain time frames, if my understanding of media buys is close. Regardless, no legitimate American supports these ridiculous idiots on the "View", and anyone appearing on their show needs to feel the same level of rejection for trying to "elevate" those morons to just above whale dung on the social ladder.
