During the funeral of President Gerald Ford, Katie Couric attacked the Reverend Billy Graham for being "remarkably partisan." A "Time" magazine correspondent slammed the departed Ford for not criticizing the Iraq war publically, calling it "unpardonable."
More than one network jumped at the chance to spin the execution of Saddam Hussein. Both CNN and NBC’s "Today" show derided the act as "revenge." On New Years Day, "Today" asserted that the tyrant’s death will be a "public relations" blow for the U.S.
This week’s incoming Democratic majority made it very difficult for media outlets to restrain their glee. CNN promoted the iPod-loving Harry Reid and also Nancy Pelosi, who "places a premium on family values." ABC, meanwhile, touted Keith Ellison, the newly elected Muslim member of Congress, while ignoring his ties to the Nation of Islam.
