Fox Comedy News Show Debuts Sunday Night

Photo of Matthew Sheffield.

This Sunday at 10pm Eastern, Fox News Channel is going to show a pilot episode of a news satire show it's commissioned from "24" executive producer Joel Surnow.

Here at NB and MRC, we often rightly complain at the media's leftward slant. This slant exists largely because the news and entertainment media shun and blacklist people with known conservative and libertarian politics, however, it's also a question of the right's interest in media.

If you're sick of every comedy show being run by left-wingers like Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, and David Letterman, join me in watching the "Half-Hour News Hour" this Sunday and tell everyone you know who might like it to tune in as well.

For a sample of the show and its format, click on over to this YouTube excerpt. There's also another promo where the show's producers discuss who might be offended at it. Click past the fold to watch the first spot right from this entry.

Finally!  Ive been waiting for a show like this for a long time.  Fight Fire with fire.

And next I want a TV News station that slants as far to the right as ABC, NBC and CBS do to the left.  FOX is great and all but that fair and balance junk doesnt cut it when the other side is so blatantly biased.

Get a channel thats way to the right and show those liberals what SLANTED really means and they can stop criticizing Fox.

I saw a clip from the show that was about Obama. It was HILARIOUS! I don't know why they use that laugh track tho.
This stinker will be canceled in 3 months, if that.

I am well aware the war room of the leftists are already getting ready with-anti-spin for FOX and this show, but I hope they do, if the first few shows aren't that good, they will have free advertisement from msnbc and others to tune in...kinda like what msnbc is still doing to the minute...with all the other #1 FOX Shows...American Idol, 24...this may be next....

True, they haven't aired an entire show yet, and while my hope is with the new show, my verdict so-far is with Bal. It's just not all-that-funny. If this segment truly represents their "A game," Colbert & Stewart have not-much to worry about, IMO. Hopefully, the actual show will be better.
JMR

Maybe it can only get better?

Maybe it can only get better? I laughed at the Marion Barry (not to be confused with the Marion Berry) endorsement bit and Obama's Democrat ratings plummet.

I hope so. The Daily Show,

I hope so. The Daily Show, for example, is at its best when covering issues regular media don't cover, like voting machine "security," but the Fox offering has a ways to go before it gets to that level. From the brief clip, I'd make the following suggestion... '70s era Saturday Night Live themes around the failed drugwar & Democrats probably aren't gonna impress the libertarians in their audience, because we tend to be 100%-aware that the government's full of bipartisan-BS on that particular issue, so my advice is to try making FUNNY jokes about illegal drugs for a change -- even if it questions big government's tax and spend drugwar & gives Roger Ailes more heartburn than the unfunny Obama stuff!
JMR

By "laughed" I meant it was the high point, although I detest laugh tracks which is what the audience? sounded like.

The thing is, actually-funn

The thing is, actually-funny drugwar comedy-material abounds these days. I mean, ferchrissakes Philly has just banned the blunt. (I'd ask, "what's next, the cheesesteak?" but the foodnazis are apparently ahead of both me & the drugnazis!).

Have to agree. If that is the best they can do it's going to fail miseralby, not funny at all. I was hoping they'd get someone with some wit like Ingram or Miller. Didn't dig the laugh track or whatever it was either. They need someone who can be funny and witty on the fly instead of having humor read off a telapromter.

Next week they will show a still photo of Obummer and Hildebeast in a warm embrace.

I hope this show is better than their latest addition, which is a show called "Red Eye". I like Fox, but that show ....isn't very good, to say the least.

The balance

I have already seen on this site and another I frequent, some complaining, what about 'Fair and Blanced'?

I defer to the Limbaugh defense, "I am the balance."

Any bets on how long it takes

Any bets on how long it takes the Left to make this stupid comment (or some variation)? - "I thought FoxNews already WAS a comedy?"

If the trailer is any hint at how the show will be, I am going to set my DVR to record it.

I loved BO magazine - where can I subscribe?  I can't wait for the swimsuit edition!

By the way, you can wait all night long on many an SNL show and not view one funny skit.  For that reason, I haven't watched it in years.  The others of that genre suck equally.

On the other hand, Fox will turn the air waves into gold, again. This Sunday night show will be talked about at the "water cooler" long past Monday.

I think we should dress up as our favorite characters

I'm crying laughing.  What a great post!

I think we should all dress up as our favorite characters from the show and plan a convention where we can all get together and say catchy phrases from the show.

"I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane"  Waylon Jennings

And...

Brack Obummer can dress up as Alfalfa and regale us with anecdotes of his experience.

An ugly American is one who does not support his country.

Matthew, watched the piece -goooooood!

Now I have another show I can watch. I watched Leno last night because Dennis Miller was on. Pelosi and Hildebeast were aptly discussed. He had me LMAO. He also laid a big trip on Algore and GW. It was a great bit. Leno couldn't stop laughing. Miller also referenced John Edwards in a very funny but very unfavourable light. With supporters like Miller, we could cut rhrough all the Stewart, Letterman crap.

An ugly American is one who does not support his country.

FNC "Comedy" Show Not FUnnie

The biggest problem with the new FNC comedy show is that it is just NOT FUnnie. That hackeyed "BO" joke was old weeks ago. The writers of that show either need to go back to the creative drawing boards or be sacked.

I have to concur...

I have to concur... not much originality in the format (doing exactly what daily show, weekend update does, et al, only shifted to the right- which I suppose is the point) or the jokes. If this gets sacked by critics- and it will- it most likely deserves to... it just isnt fresh. That being said, perhaps it will fit a niche and find sucess, who knows.

toolz-- I will watch, if only..

toolz-- I will watch, if only..because I am so bleeping tired of so much anti-Bush, anti-Republican, anti-conservative tripe I have heard when I tuned in to the other shows. I watch the local news (no network big three buls**t in my house.), Fox for my national news--(Hume , O'Reilly , occsionally cavuto). It seems we conservatives have been the source of derision for years. I welcome any chance to turn it around.

An ugly American is one who does not support his country.

I will say this, it wil

I will say this, it will be interesting if there is a lot of hoopla if and when this show touches a leftist nerve... because there are a lot of cheap shots in comedy shows that go unnoticed in the name of comedy... will have to see if this show ruffles any feathers.

Well, judging by some of the

Well, judging by some of the comments on the youtube site you would have thought it was the Klan who made this video.  It was funny, nothing scathing or edgy in my opinion, certianly not close to most of the Daily Show material.  But people were crying racism and the whole bit.  The funniest thing about this show might be watching the left whip themselves into a frenzy and not the actual show.

So basically you have no cl

So basically you have no clue?

How about letting the show do it's thing, watch an entire episode and then give your 2 cents? From the short clip I saw, it was funny and I look forward to watching the entire episode. But I'm not going to sit here and opine about the destiny of this show, because no one here knows it.

Oh the left is not going to l

Oh the left is not going to like this at all. After all their catterwalling about Rush and Fox. Oh the humanity!!!! There will be many dour reports of the insensitivity of those mean right wingers at Fox.

Can't wait!!!

Oh, and lets not trash the whole concept because the 2 minute trailer is not gut spliting funny. Sheesh.

I will give the show a view o

I will give the show a view or 2....was hoping for something of a mirror image of "Countdown" on MSNBC as biased to the right as KO is biased to the left only polking fun at the biased left by telling half-truths and incomplete strories in an intentional manner with humor...........maybe to much to ask for..........will see.

Yes, I think that would

Yes, I think that would be fresh... absurdist humor, satiring a show that is just begging to be satired.

At first thought...

...I don't like the concept of it. Regardless if funny or not. I really like Fox News and personally I think it should remain news, news analysis, opinion debates, etc. A news outlet producing a show to offset shows that are not news related or that don't have anything to do with a "news" channel is not something I'd recommend FNC attempt.  But, game on at this point. No stopping it now, unless it just stinks.

I wish they'd not stepped into this area.

Oh, how I wish Dennis Miller was the man in charge of this effort.

I think it'll definitely get the message across.

But I think getting the message across is going to be a higher priority for this show than being funny.

The show has some things goin

The show has some things going for it.  It doesn't need to be side-splitting hilarious to be good.  It is doing the same thing from the right that Stewart and Uberloon, et al, are doing from the left, and that's the point: it is satirizing those shows which the Koskids and Hufftard posters seem to like.  So it doesn't have the best writing in the world.  Neither does SNL, or Stewart.  SNL has had some skits lampooning the marxist leftists like Hillary! that have been fairly good.  But, it is an inconsistant thing.

I liked the clip with Prez Rush and VP Coulter.  Mayhap Dennis Miller will make some appearances.  Those will be good.  Even if you thought the Rush/Ann skit was lame, just compare it to anything Bill Mahr has done.  Light years above anything that showed on Politically Incorrect.  Give the show a chance.  And, remember the available alternatives.

The left is such a target rich environment for mockery, it's almost impossible to miss with the right cast and sharp writers... but the small clips I've seen are, unfortunately, a humor free environment.

Rush is a funny guy, but this look likes an SNL skit mocking him! I'm hoping this is just a promo for the show, and not a regular piece.

Ann Couter pretending to be Hillary Clinton pretending to be President... that may be funny and scary.

Man you guys are a tough crowd. I agree 100% with Mathew. I didn’t think this clip was bad, but even if I did, I would support the show so that people know there is a market for conservative comedy. If we don’t support it and get everyone we know to do the same, we have no right to complain anymore. If this show flops, no one will
do it again.

The only time I've ever heard

The only time I've ever heard Rush be funny is when Bubba the Love Sponge used his sounds clips berating drug addicts (prior to his drug addiction being made public of course) mixed with that Afroman song, "Because I got High"

Now that's some funny stuff...
