Anyone who has watched Diane Sawyer's extended interview of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over the last few days knows that the Iranian leader is a sensitive soul. Not only is he in search of new ways to love people, but just today we discovered that he is frequently given to tears.It goes without saying that we wouldn't want to provoke such a person -- it could harm his self-esteem. Unfortunately, President Bush doesn't seem to have gotten the message. But thank goodness for David Gregory. As luck would have it he turned up at today's White House press conference to convey the message to the president: stop provoking poor Mahmoud!
Gregory began by observing: "A lot of critics say that you are using the same quality of intelligence about Iran that you used to make the case for war in Iraq . . . and that you are doing that to make a case for war against Iran. Is that the case?"

President Bush reiterated to Gregory what he had said earlier in the press conference: that there is no doubt that the Quds force has provided sophisticated IEDs to forces within Iraq, and that Quds is a part of the Iranian government. Whether the highest level of the Iranian government had ordered Quds to do so, the president couldn't say.
That wasn't good enough for Gregory. As the president began to take a question from another person, Gregory interrupted: "Are you using faulty intelligence to provoke Iran?"President Bush: "I heard your question, and I told you I was confident that the Quds force, a part of the Iranian government, was providing weaponry into Iraq. And to say that it is 'provoking Iran' is just a wrong way to characterize the Commander-in-Chief's decision to do what is necessary to protect our soldiers in harm's way -- and I will continue to do so."
Uh-oh. Mahmoud is going to need a hug.

He has made the hard command decisions that has liberated millions of people in Iraq and Afghanistan form oppresive regimes, has defended tax policies that have help the rebounding of our economy, and has put two solid Originalists on the Supreme Court. The Crusades of long ago are living history in the Middle East, so they are already primed for another war with Christian invaders; and our “bring it on” cowboy President is only rekindling and fueling this centuries-old fire.
Our brave, innocent young men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan are fighting for a better world, but a leader ignorant of history and cultures can easily cause the opposite. The stupidity of World War I and of Wilson, Lloyd George and Clemenceau caused terrible consequences for another 70 years after the end of that war, including Hilter and Communism. Afghanistan is the right war, certainly a just war and the whole world agreed and was on our side, and if we would have concentrated our efforts there we probably would have wiped out Bin Laden and those responsible for 9-11 by now. Iraq is a total disaster, and Iran will be even worse. Let’s face it, all George Bush knows is how to start wars!
AMERICAN DIPLOMACY… now there’s an oxymoron! The leader of Iran comes off as a whacko, however, the Iranians and the entire rest of the world view George Bush in the same way, so there is a common starting point. Real diplomacy involves talking with your adversary one-on-one without preconditions, and there’s a lot to discuss with Iran: the CIA in the 1950s, the Shah, the 1979 hostage crisis, sponsorship of terror, Israel and justice in the Middle East, and nuclear issues. But if past is prelude, Bush’s diplomacy with Iran will be perfunctory and rigged - this time, our mentally unbalanced, messianic President needs to provoke a war, AND HE WILL FIND A WAY!

2.) Please prove that the Hatred in the middle east towards the US is more acute now than it was when I was there in the 1990's. (Can't be done, it was nearly identical, but it gets press today.)
3.) Please prove we have lost respect amongst the middle east. (Incorrect assessment, Arabs culturally respect strength, something NOT shown during the Clinton Administration.
4.) You state the term "Cowboy" as an epithet. Please tell me why. I have more respect for the "Cowboys" I live beside here in AZ than I have in all the Ivy Leaguers in Manhatten. Further question.... have you ever MET a cowboy?
5.) Please tell me how a YAle Graduate with a Harvard MBA is inherently less capable to identify milestones in world history as compared to a womans studies grad from Berkeley?
6.) Please list the reasons and rationales for the statement that our participation in Iraq has been a disaster. (I am really looking forward to this one.)
