As the media, the left, and the United Nations become more and more strident about a supposed scientific consensus surrounding anthropogenic global warming, more and more dissenters speak out against the junk science involved in this mythology.
The most recent was Vaclav Klaus, the President of the Czech Republic.
In an interview with "Hospodářské noviny," a Czech economics daily, Klaus made the following observations (emphasis mine throughout):
Global warming is a false myth and every serious person and scientist says so. It is not fair to refer to the U.N. panel. IPCC is not a scientific institution: it's a political body, a sort of non-government organization of green flavor. It's neither a forum of neutral scientists nor a balanced group of scientists. These people are politicized scientists who arrive there with a one-sided opinion and a one-sided assignment.
I couldn’t agree more. Klaus marvelously continued:
Also, it's an undignified slapstick that people don't wait for the full report in May 2007 but instead respond, in such a serious way, to the summary for policymakers where all the "but's" are scratched, removed, and replaced by oversimplified theses. This is clearly such an incredible failure of so many people, from journalists to politicians. If the European Commission is instantly going to buy such a trick, we have another very good reason to think that the countries themselves, not the Commission, should be deciding about similar issues.
The interviewer asked: “How do you explain that there is no other comparably senior statesman in Europe who would advocate this viewpoint? No one else has such strong opinions...”
Klaus answered: “My opinions about this issue simply are strong. Other top-level politicians do not express their global warming doubts because a whip of political correctness strangles their voice.”
Another interesting question: "Don't you believe that we're ruining our planet?"
Klaus’s marvelous answer:
Perhaps only Mr Al Gore may be saying something along these lines: a sane person can't. I don't see any ruining of the planet, I have never seen it, and I don't think that a reasonable and serious person could say such a thing. Look: you represent the economic media so I expect a certain economical erudition from you. My book will answer these questions. For example, we know that there exists a huge correlation between the care we give to the environment on one side and the wealth and technological prowess on the other side. It's clear that the poorer the society is, the more brutally it behaves with respect to Nature, and vice versa.• It's also true that there exist social systems that are damaging Nature - by eliminating private ownership and similar things - much more than the freer societies. These tendencies become important in the long run. They unambiguously imply that today, on February 8th, 2007, Nature is protected uncomparably more than on February 8th ten years ago or fifty years ago or one hundred years ago.
Fascinating. Let’s hope more political leaders around the world free themselves from the current bounds of political correctness and join the groundswell that recognize this junk science for what it is.

One day you use one model and the next you use another. They could give you conflicting data. If someone had preconceived theories about climate change, they could make any model say whatever they want it to say.

But then Socialism is also bad for the environment, just look at what China has done to the air and water even though pollution control technology has been around since the 1970s. At least capitalistic countries have made an effort, hence the US has much cleaner air and water than anywhere in the world.

February 12, 2007 - 14:55 ET by pocomocoMore than ever now, I’m convinced that G_d has a sense of humor.
Just when the question of global warming is reaching a fever pitch, He dumps a massive amount of snow and below normal temperatures on the country making the global warming crowd look like fools.
I also believe that He is miffed at the scientists who, instead of doing research on the marvels of the universe, as seen by Einstein, Newton, et al, they have turned to the dark side of junk science to prove a theory that does not exist.

Vacant Position: Global Warming Field Organizer
Closing Date for Application: March 9, 2007
Details: See full job description below
Send Resume/Cover Letter: hotseat@sfo.greenpeace.org
_____________________________________________________________
POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: FIELD ORGANIZER
DEPARTMENT: CAMPAIGNS DIVISION
SUPERVISOR: GLOBAL WARMING FIELD DIRECTOR
SALARY: $29,932.83 plus full benefits including paid medical and dental, generous paid vacation package and more
LOCATION: Select Congressional districts in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Virginia, or Washington
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: Campaign is expected to end by 2009
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Greenpeace USA’s cutting-edge grassroots campaign, Project Hot Seat, began during the 2006 election season as a way to push candidates for Congress to become champions on global warming. In 6 congressional districts across the country, our field team mobilized thousands of citizens, garnered hundreds of media hits, and successfully pushed almost all of our targets to adopt strong positions on global warming.
Through action in Congress, major opportunities for the US to become a leader on global warming , will present themselves after the nation elects a new president in 2008. Leading up to the election, we will push dozens more congressional representatives to take a stand, creating a majority in Congress to push global warming solutions forward. We’re making this happen by educating and activating the public, building nontraditional coalitions with local groups, and following targets wherever they go.
We are building a team of savvy, strategic, and experienced organizers to serve as field staff on Project Hot Seat. Our Field Organizers will continue to lead the charge in convincing Congress to take immediate and significant action, and to make Congress accountable to the American public, not to big oil and coal companies.
Greenpeace is hiring organizers who can commit to a two-year position, beginning May 2007. The application deadline is March 30, though we highly encourage interested parties to apply now. Interviews will begin in February and the positions will be filled on a rolling basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Field Organizer is the cornerstone of Greenpeace’ highly successful Project Hot Seat. While Field Organizers work closely with the rest of Greenpeace’s Global Warming Team, they are the sole representative of Greenpeace in their district. This person is responsible for building relationships with key players on the local level, building power with important constituent groups, as well as working closely with congressional representatives and hopefuls to make global warming a legislative priority.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop a sophisticated, community-based campaign to convince congressional representatives and candidates to take a stand to stop global warming
Create widespread public support by recruiting and training campaign volunteers
Develop knowledge on issues concerning global warming, renewable energy, and the coal, oil, and nuclear industries
Collaborate with and mobilize constituent groups, both traditional and nontraditional
Plan and execute events to educate the public about global warming
Generate significant media coverage on Project Hot Seat and the issue of global warming
Build long-term relationships between the public and Congress to ensure continued action by Congress on the issue
Implement other campaign tactics to pressure congressional targets to become champions
