Ellen Goodman: ‘Global Warming Deniers Are Now on a Par with Holocaust Deniers’

The left-leaning media are so predictable, aren’t they? Regardless of the well-documented recent failings of the United Nations – the Oil-for-Food scandal, the sex scandals, you name it – America’s press just can’t bring themselves to question anything that comes out of this corrupt body.

Such was certainly the case in devout liberal Ellen Goodman’s Boston Globe piece Friday concerning global warming (emphasis mine throughout):

By every measure, the U N 's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change raises the level of alarm. The fact of global warming is "unequivocal." The certainty of the human role is now somewhere over 90 percent. Which is about as certain as scientists ever get.

Game, set, and match for Goodman. Yet, this wasn’t nearly as unequivocal as she got:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

I would like to say we're at a point where global warming is impossible to deny. Let's just say that global warming deniers are now on a par with Holocaust deniers, though one denies the past and the other denies the present and future.

Actually, Ellen, there is indeed a huge difference between denying the past and denying the present and the future. As such, this analogy is absurd and offensive to say the least.

But Goodman’s insults didn’t end there. Not by a long shot:

Only 23 percent of college-educated Republicans believe the warming is due to humans, while 75 percent of college-educated Democrats believe it.

This great divide comes from the science-be-damned-and-debunked attitude of the Bush administration and its favorite media outlets.

Hmmm. So, we once again have a liberal media member claiming that Republicans can’t think for themselves, and that their opinions are all a function of “the Bush administration and its favorite media outlets,” which of course is code for Fox News.

Yet, like the rest of her ilk, Goodman ignores the likelihood that her opinions, and those of her fellow comrades, are a product of their favorite media outlets, and the views of politicians they revere.

Amazingly, this possibility was lost on Goodman even as she plugged a famous Democrat currently touring the world spreading the hysteria she and so many like her have bought into: “We are still waiting for the time when an election hinges on a candidate's plans for a changing climate.”

I bet you are, Ellen. Of course, I imagine even you wouldn’t jump on such a candidate’s bandwagon if he or she was pro-life, would you Ellen?

Noel.....Cult...

Noel,

I do believe, my most rabid comments aside, that the structure of the Global Warming dogmacists is on par with cultic characteristics and such bodies intend on serious control and influence...they are infected with a crusadership mentality.

It behooves not just readers but editors as well to seriously consider introducing such a term when weighing the expressed ideology and prescriptive actions of these Global Warmists. Goodman's statement truly is absolutely outlandish and she is embraced by many libs as a mainstream lib. So if they are going to tolerate such polarizing language in Goodman, imagine what is going to come next.

Those we sit next to and talk with and those they sit next to and talk with  we influence...and we might want to consider framing Global Warmingism in terms of cultic behavior because it is getting to the point that the language coming from its proponents...scientists or not...is liberally being peppered with "prophet" in describing Gore, "holocaust denier equivilency" by Goodman, and apocapyptic imagery to fuel fears. Who do you know who might have an even larger audience than NB that you might nudge and ask them..."Do you think it has reached cultic levels" and "do you think it is time to ask this question publicly"?

If I seem out of the way then forgive me but this language so easily used by Goodman is telling to me, of what is to come if it isn't marganilzed very quickly.

If you claim to be a conservative, please don't disgrace yourself and conservatism by thinking and arguing like a liberal. Go Rudy!

GAT If you look at nativistic

GAT If you look at nativistic movements, revivalistic movements, messiac movements. There is definately a pattern. Usually a stress that the followers of the movement have a problem with. The approaching white settlers for the Ghost Dancers. The lost of WWI by Germany and the problems after. Difficulty in dealing with the stresses of rapid growth and cultual change in our time, There are  demons that cause the problems. Indians giving up their old ways as well as the whites. The jews in Germany in the 30's and early 40's. The CO2 molecule and oil companies, and the SUV and deniers.  And magical thinking. If we wear the ghost shirt and do the ghost dance the buffalo will return. If we get rid of the jews the arryan race will find the 3rd reich. There are some similar patterns.

Found this to most interesting: A recent Washington Post article gave this scientist's quote from 1972. "We simply cannot afford to gamble. We cannot risk inaction. The scientists who disagree are acting irresponsibly. The indications that our climate can soon change for the worse are too strong to be reasonably ignored." The warning was not about global warming (which was not happening): it was about global cooling! (From the TImes of India) They go on: Yet never in history have scientists accurately predicted what will happen 100 years later. A century ago no scientists predicted the internet, microwave ovens, TV, nuclear explosions or antibiotics. It is impossible, even stupid, to predict the distant future. The whole article here.

For accuracy in weather/clima

For accuracy in weather/climate forecasting, we need only look at the 2006 Hurricane season.  After a devasting season in 2005 (Katrina; 3 big hurricanes across Florida), we were warned that 2006 would be another 'above average' season, almost as bad as 2005.

In mid-season, with the anticipated hurricanes way behind schedule, they lowered the estimate to 'average season.'  When the season was over and NOT ONE HURRICANE HAD MADE LANDFALL IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES, they concluded that 2006 was a 'below average' hurricane season.

Keep this drastic swing in a ONE YEAR HURRICANE FORECAST in mind when you read the IPCC report that just landed at the UN.  One excerpt I read lowered the earlier estimate on sea level rise by about 50%!  In other words, the seas will rise about 17 inches by 2100 --- about the same level of increase we've seen over the past century.

And in another 30 years, the

And in another 30 years, the UN's estimate on sea level rise will decrease another 50% until we most likely end up with a total increase of 1". Not a big deal, folks! If the predictions of the 2006 Hurricane season tell us anything, it's that nothing is 100% guaranteed predictable.

I work in the sciences, altho

I work in the sciences, although not in  a position where I need GW funding to exist. After extensively studying the issue, I have concluded that GW is a hoax. The Earth  is in a warming cycle (as is Mars, Venus, etc.), coming out of the little ice age in the mid 1700s. There is scientific proof that warming and cooling cycles have been occurring on the Earth for millions of years and, from what I see, the current warming is driven by extreme solar activity during the 1990s. I have seen nothing to convince me that the current warming is anything more than part of the natural cycle. In fact, the latest data shows we are now entering a period of less solar activity and a cooling trend. Concerning CO2, it is a natural part of our environment and either released or absorbed by the oceans (which make up ~75% of he earth's surface) depending on the water temperature. Current atmospheric concentrations are in response to solar-driven warming, not the cause of it. Due to the bicarbonate system water chemistry equilibrium and Henry's Law, CO2 would be approximately the same whether there was or was not any anthropogenic sources. In other words, with manmade sources, more remains in the oceans and less is released to the atmosphere; without manmade sources, less remains in the oceans and more is released to the atmosphere. The whole GW scare is political and intended to cause economic hardship on the USA.

Off topic for tonight I know, but in regards to our discussion yesterday about the reasons for war, I want to say thank you for calling me an idiot.  I noticed you did it twice after you dismissed me and I logged out; sort of like a talk radio talk show host solidifying his point at the caller’s expense after the caller is disconnected.

Your timing is impeccably funny, though.  Apparently you don’t get the White House talking points in advance.  With today’s reports on the “Office of Special Plans,” the Pentagon investigating the Pentagon as it were, it becomes clear that the Bush administration did in fact have an orchestrated plan to misinform the public and the Congress regarding the reasons and necessity for America’s inevitable invasion of Iraq.

Specifically, the Bush Administration with the direction of Dick Cheney, created the Office of Special Plans (what a name!) to create false intelligence around al-qaeda being linked to Iraq, as well as other pre-war public misinformation.  The OSP was nothing more than a Bush administration propaganda organ involving the likes of Ahmed Chalibia and others of his ilk.  Noel, this is not new knowledge.  As an intelligent person, did you overlook it, or just “conservative-think” bulldoze it?  Notice I don’t call you names.  You have educated me in being polite in political discourse.

Dave,

I think you've missed a couple of days, for this discussion occurred on Tuesday, not last night. However, I'm more than willing to stoke your memory, and to give everyone here some context for that snippet you cherry picked:

Dave High Says:

Noel:

As a liberal, please allow me to explain what is going on in our circles.  There are those among us who knew that Bush’s war on Iraq was based on falsehoods from the very beginning.  I am among those people.  My brother and father, both liberals, were on a retreat with me while Bush & Co. were making the case for war.  Both my father and brother had been scared and shocked by the events of 9/11 and Bush & Company’s subsequent linking of those events to Saddam Hussein.  Here then in a nutshell is the schism, you see.  Good people differed on whether Bush & Co. were telling the truth at the time.  My father’s and brother’s attitudes were, since he is president, he must know more than he is telling us and we must follow his lead.  My attitude was, if he had real proof he would put it forward.  All his bluster is a smokescreen for a lack of proof and concrete evidence.  As it turns out, I was right.

Fast forward to the present.  The war, by all accountings, is an unmitigated disaster.  It was clearly based on falsehoods, exaggerations, and cherry-picked intelligence.  If you opposed the war, or even Bush’s execution of the war, you were (and still are) at best unpatriotic and at worst a terrorist by Bush Administration and other right wing proclamations.

So here’s the paradox.  We were lied to, yet with current knowledge, how can a self-respecting liberal admit that he was cowed by all of this?  It makes you seem stupid.  If you are a liberal media critic or politician, the damage of being an easily deceived buffoon is even worse.   Now, if you are a conservative all is well because you still believe the world is flat and Bush is the greatest King since sliced cheese.  That perspective really makes me wonder!

Side note:  I swear, all of this liberal posturing makes Karl Rove do the happy dance, even without his bud Jeff Gannon/Guckert stroking his toes.  Karl is just thrilled that he could help create such political instability through his crafty lies.

Noel Sheppard Says:

Dave,

Well, as a conservative, it's difficult to ascertain how much of the above you wrote with your tongue in your cheek, and how you could have done it with both of your hands patting yourself on the back?

Regardless, in the midst of your certainty concerning how terribly this war is going, do you have any disregard for all of the Democrats that voted for it in October 2002?

After all, either they were stupid enough to be misled by a president that you feel is a moron, or they voted in favor of the war for their own personal political reasons. Whichever, do they also draw your ire and deserve responsibility for the position we're currently in, or like most of your ilk, have you given them all a pass except for Joe Lieberman?

FYI: 29 Democrats in the Senate and 95 in the House voted for the war resolution. In fact, if the Democrats had all voted against it in both chambers, we wouldn't be at war today.  ns

Dave High Says:

Noel:

When did I ever say Bush was a moron?  When he lost his first election in Texas, it was because his opponent labeled him as a carpetbagger from up North, which of course Bush was.  After the defeat, Bush vowed "never to be out Texaned again."  He then adopted his now famous simple speak, Texas drawl.  Moron, no.  Deceiver, yes. And undoubtedly from birth and heritage.

Dave High Says:

" ... questions concerning the responsibility of the 124 Congressional Democrats that voted for the war resolution?"

Forgive me, I thought I covered that in my first post.  Like my father and brother, they were deceived.  As politicians, it is suicide to admit a monumental mistake, even though it was based on multple deceptions from the current administration.  For this reason, Karl Rove is doing the happy dance.  He has done lasting damage, as your position proves.  How could I have been more clear?

Regards, Dave High

Noel Sheppard Says:
February 6, 2007 - 23:37

Dave,

They were deceived? By whom? They had access to all the same information the president did. All of it. And, if you've listened or read statements by Pete Hoekstra who was responsible for such information in the House, only a handful of Representatives bothered to look at all the information that was available to them.

However, if that's your position, I have no interest in discussing this matter with you further. You posture yourself as someone who knew more than the overwhelming majority of our population, our elected officials, and all espionage agencies around the world while throwing that crap out about Dems being deceived. What a crock.

Adios.  ns

Noel Sheppard Says:
February 7, 2007 - 10:00

SP, Exactly. I like Dave, but he is either lying or stupid. Period. It really does come down to that in my view: Any American that actually believes that members of Congress were deceived by the president is an idiot, and isn't worthy of anyone's debate time. You want to impeach the president because of this war? OK. Then, I want a recall for every current member of Congress who authorized the war resolution. And, I want all of the staffs of said legislators to be permanently barred from government. And all of the President's staff as well. And the Vice President's. And the Cabinet. And the State Department. And we should take away everybody's retirement benefits. All of them. Excuse me, but we have Congressional oversight concerning war for a reason. If these people abdicated their responsibility because there was an election coming up in three weeks, then every one who did so should be held responsible. And anybody on the left that doesn't see it this way isn't worth any of our time, for they are just as bad as anti-war people like John Kerry who voted for this resolution because they thought it would help them politically. ns

Del Dolemonte Says:
February 7, 2007 - 11:21

Noel, Captain Ed over at Captain's Quarters had an interesting observation Tuesday. John Edwards was on "Meet the Press" this past Sunday, and had this to say:

"So I accept my responsibility. I’m not defending what I did. Because what happened was the information that we got on the intelligence committee was, was relatively consistent with what I was getting from former Clinton administration officials. "

In other words, Edwards is saying that he based his vote not just on what Bush's people were telling him, but what his predecessor's people were telling him as well. So according to Mr. High's "logic", Bill Clinton lied us into the war as well.

Noel Sheppard Says:
February 7, 2007 - 11:40

Del,

I saw it on Sunday, and thank you for reminding me. BT,

There's a side of this that eludes many folks on the left: Congress has a responsibilty to act as a check and balance over the executive branch, especially those from the opposing Party, and most seriously when the subject is war.

These 124 Democrats either believed that going to war was the right move for the country or for their political futures. Period. They didn't vote yes because of what a Republican president said. Period.

Furthermore, every member of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, is just as responsible for us being at war as the president. That's the way our system of government works.

And, if you don't believe that, you're also either an idiot or a liar.   ns

Interesting, Noel.  In re-po

Interesting, Noel.  In re-posting our prior conversation, you managed to completely ignore the two most salient points of my recent post.  Being generous, I will give you a second shot.

  1. The Bush administration created the Office of Special Plans under the direction of Douglas Feith with the mission to show a working collaboration between Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, contrary to existing intelligence assessments at the time.  This was of course done to convince the American people and Congress that a war on Iraq was necessary and justified.  We now know that "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."  Given that the evidence of this evil collaboration cited by the Office of Special Plans is now known to be completely false, how can you stand by your assertion that the Bush administration didn’t intentionally mislead the American people and Congress into war?
  2. If your goal is to raise the level of discourse on your blog by doing away with name calling and crotch grabbing, how is calling me a stupid lying idiot supportive of that goal?  I honestly expected an apology, not a reiteration of your nasty characterizations.

 Regards, Dave High

Dave, your facts are garbled. Your ideas are outdated.

Dave, your facts are garbled.  Your ideas are outdated.

Nice personal interpretation of the Office of Special Plans, however, no one else in the universe agrees with it.

Fits your apologies for your hatred of Bush.  Try this Dave, it'll save you from being labled as an idiot.  Bush lied, people died.

It's short, sweet and catchy.  Maybe even a bumper sticker?  Your opinion on why the Office of Special Plans was created is so profound.  Did you figure that out all by yourself?  Or did you get some help from an 'outside' source?

It's be nice if you could for once in your life on this site come up with a citation other than the World Wide Socialist Web Site; or whatever, to actually point out where the Senate or House or any independent investigation actually said, "...this evil collaboration cited by the Office of Special Plans is now known to be completely false."?

But, I really don't care anymore Mr. High.  This Canard is so yesterday.  It doesn't matter anymore if the intelligence was erroneous because, guess what Dave; the United States is at War in Iraq.

Ain't gonna change because you want it to change.  Ain't gonna make any difference to the outcome what you think about Bush Lied, People Died.  That must really rub you, huh?

Nobody cares anymore, Dave.  We are concerned about people like you undermining the will to fight, undermining the morale of our troops, undermining the morale of the American people, and undermining the authority and power of the Commander in Chief, President Bush.

That's what we are concerned about.  People like you who are so vested in the defeat of the United States so that people like you can garner votes in an election and smugly sit back and say, 'I told you so.'  Well, you can really look forward to the day when all of your blather comes back and bites you.

Because, I for one of 27 million veterans in this country do not think that it is in the best interests of the country to leave Iraq.  Nor do I think that it is in the best interests of this country to have Democrats run it.  So, next election, Dave, when the Republicans do not stay home; what are ya gonna do?  Call the MSM?

Dave High

Dave,

You are badly misinterpreting Thursday's Pentagon report, and continuing to ignore the salient points that I made in another thread on Tuesday.

Let's deal with the former first. I recommend that you read the article on this from the New York Times, which stated that Feith was cleared of wrong-doing by the acting inspector general. Though some of his actions were deemed inappropriate, neither he nor any member of the Bush administration was accused of violating the law. Did you miss this somehow? Didn't think that was important?

Furthermore, what was deemed "inappropriate" was the following: "The draft inspector general report said Mr. Feith’s office should have followed intelligence agency guidelines for registering differing views, 'in those rare instances where consensus could not be reached.'”

That's it. Now, if you and your ilk see this as the big smoking gun you're looking for, even as Feith is cleared of wrong-doing, that is your choice. However, that's not the case, for the report made it clear that no laws were violated. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Zilch..

Regardless, this report has no relevance to our previous discussion. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Zilch. I wasn't arguing the point that the Bush administration appears to have presented to the public and the UN information which proved incorrect after the fact. I was arguing that his presentation was irrelevant when it came to Democrats voting for the war resolution, as each one of them should have made their decisions on this grave issue independent of anything the President said.

That is their job. And, the 124 members of the Democrat Party that voted for the war resolution did so of their own accord. They had access to all the information that the intelligence community had been gathering on Saddam for decades. As was mentioned in that thread on Tuesday, Edwards was just asked about this issue last Sunday on "MTP," and told Russert:

So I accept my responsibility. I’m not defending what I did. Because what happened was the information that we got on the intelligence committee was, was relatively consistent with what I was getting from former Clinton administration officials."

If Edwards can accept responsibility for his decision in October 2002 without blaming it on Bush, why can't you? Why do you refuse to hold these 124 Democrats -- or any of the 535 members of Congress -- to the same standard you do members of the Bush administration?

With that in mind, I stand by my previous statements. Yes, Dave, I do want a more elevated and civil dialogue, and am doing my best to engage you and other liberals here with that goal. However, if someone on either side of the aisle represents a clear canard to buttress his or her position, it is they who have strayed from civility, and broken the assumed contract.

It is much like someone arguing that one plus one equals three. If one continues with that premise, a sane person has to conclude said person is either stupid or lying. If you find that unacceptable, what can I say? But me apologize for suggesting that someone who is denying one plus one equals two is stupid or lying will never happen.

In fact, it is you who should apologize for continuing to waste time furthering this canard while chastising me for calling you on it.   ns

Noel:I read the NYT article a

Noel:

I read the NYT article and several others.  The Pentagon, investigating its own internal activities, concluded that Feith did nothing illegal.  To quote Gomer Pile, “Well surprise, surprise!”  Fortunately, a number of U.S. senators don’t necessarily agree with this assessment and there will be further hearings.  You no doubt are proud of these senators; they are doing the oversight so sorely missed while the Republicans held the Congress.

As for what Feith did that was “inappropriate,” you left out a little detail in your analysis.  The Pentagon report stated that Douglas Feith  and his group “developed, produced and then disseminated alternative intelligence assessments on the Iraq and Al Qaeda relationship, which included some conclusions that were inconsistent with the Intelligence Community, to senior decision makers.”  For those of you in Rio Lindo, Feith and Company cooked the intelligence to fit the administration’s agenda.  This is a little bit worse than “not following agency guidelines” as you alluded, Noel.

Okay, so I get it now.  Just because the Bush administration went out of their way to create multiple pipelines of false information to influence Congress and the American people that a war on Iraq was necessary and justified, it is the fault of 124 democratic members of Congress for trusting the president and his minions and taking them at their word.  They are to be held accountable because they were badly duped and now fail to publicly admit it.

This reminds me of Rush Limbaugh saying that if Karl Rove planted the false Bush military service documents with Mike Wallace’s producer, then it was an act of genius because Karl got Mike to take the bait and brought him down.  Nothing wrong with that, is there?  Apparently this is the same mindset that allows that “swift boating” a candidate, making up falsehoods and dragging the candidate’s name through the mud, is a good thing.  You see, in liberal circles, “swift boating” is a pejorative, not an achievement.  This is also the same mindset that allows Ann Coulter to besmirch Max Cleland by saying he was on a beer run when half his body was blown away by a land mind.  How are all these diverse events connected?  In each case the Repugs have taken the truth, spun it 180 degrees on its head so the blame falls on the other guy.   It all seems all so sick and twisted to me.

Noel, in my opinion, the 124 Democrats you sing about should come clean, admit they were misled, and get on with the business of exposing all of the lies and misdeeds that have been going on in Washington for the past six years.  Scary for your side I know, but it is happening as we speak.

Regards, Dave High

Ah, Dave once again your facts are garbled.

Ah, Dave once again your facts are garbled.

This is so easy, like shooting fish in a barrel.

Dave High:  "This reminds me of Rush Limbaugh saying that if Karl Rove planted the false Bush military service documents with Mike Wallace’s producer, then it was an act of genius because Karl got Mike to take the bait and brought him down."

Dave, it was Dan Rather and Mary Mapes.  Ouch.

Dave High:  "Apparently this is the same mindset that allows that “swift boating” a candidate, making up falsehoods and dragging the candidate’s name through the mud, is a good thing.  You see, in liberal circles, “swift boating” is a pejorative, not an achievement."

Dave, what you call the falsehoods were true and it was an achievement.  We kept an idiot braggart out of the White House and I beg to differ with your characterization of the Swift Boat veterans being fabricators and liars.

So, I guess Commanders Hibbard and Elliott were liars?  Must be your imagination again?

"Several of those who joined SBVT during the 2004 campaign were officers who had previously praised Kerry's conduct during the Vietnam War. These included Division Commander Grant Hibbard, who wrote positive evaluations of Kerry, and Commander George Elliott, who submitted Kerry for a Silver Star.  SBVT counts, in total, 16 officers who served with Kerry in Coastal Division 11 as members." (Wiki - terrible source, but the facts here are right).

Dave High:  "This is also the same mindset that allows Ann Coulter to besmirch Max Cleland by saying he was on a beer run when half his body was blown away by a land mind."

Dave, I'd like to see a cite on this comment by Coulter (I know you aren't long on cites) not to argue whether she said such a thing; but the facts are wrong here.

Cleland blew himself up playing with a hand grenade.  Got it?  Hand Grenade.

Those little toys are very dangerous and we used to not let children handle them.  Somehow, Cleland fell through that crack.  I'm sorry for Cleland, but he's no combat wounded hero.

Dave, why don't you run with dogs more your size, maybe pugs, or mini-poodles?

Must absolutely drive you out of your mind to reference Rio Linda copying Rush like that.  When he does it there is a whole lot more affection in it.

I'll put Rush's Rio Linda up against your mental acumen any day any time any place.

Our Dave High can be summed up like this.

Bush Lied, People Died.

John Kerry is my hero.

Ann Coulter is a hate monger.

Cheney should be in jail (perp walked).

Clinton's malfeasance in office allowing 9/11 to happen was really George Bush's fault.

Katrina is George Bush's fault.

Everything is George Bush's fault.

I'm superior to anyone else because I know everything and you idiots know nothing because I sign my name, 'Regards, Dave High'.

These are beliefs and statements of a sad shallow man who has no depth behind his ideas.  He obviously reads the Democrat Party Web page; listens to his Liberal/Socialist friends; maybe works around the Hill - but obviously not bright enough to actually work on the Hill; and otherwise is a lacky of mind control.

Sad.  I confront him because he is so smug.  Typical Liberal that comes here, though without the curse words; but the same old same old.

As dogmatic and heavy handed as you climate fanatics are becoming, it may happen.  If a candidate espouses your views, there may be a major backlash toward sanity.

Ellen Goodman criticizes college-educated Republicans for not being able to think for themselves and basing the opinion that global warming is not a man-made catastrophe on "the Bush administration and its favorite media outlets," but then she expects them to blindly accept it just because the UN and this supposed 90% of scientists say to believe it?

I also think it is a little offensive to compare the deliberate and methodical slaughter. Somehow I don't think the relatives of the people in concentration camps who were tortured and experimented on by Germans like Mengele would be amused that denying those levels of incredible suffering and inhumanity are equivalent to people disagreeing about meteorology. Yeah, the people who deny the existance of mass graves, crematoriums, documented photographic evidence and traumatized survivors testifying at Neuremburg are the same as people who question inconsistent data and wild exaggerations. OK.

Lets humor this woman and engage in this stupid argument.

We use historical evaluation to judge the accuracy of the Holocaust.  We have eyewitness testimony (survivors), video to support the eyewitness testimony as well.  We have concrete, conclusive historical evidence that the Holocaust occured.

For AGW, we evaluate it with an entirely different set of evaluations - and so far, their case is less than airtight.

This comment of her's above is a classic bullying tactic, ala Heidi Cullen of the Weather Channel.

Well if you want to break i

Well if you want to break it down further I think you will find it isn't that far off base, although her choice of comparison is clearly intended to jab at the other side.

How do I know about the holocaust and man-made global warming. People who witnessed the holocaust and scientists who have seen (through repeated measurements) an abnormal change it global temperatures. Also historians, people who study evidence left by the holocaust and global warming.

It is pretty hard to deny that neither the holocaust nor global warming happened (and is still happening in the case of global warming). But the reasons are harder to pin down. Evidence exists that the holocaust was ordered by the Nazis and that this most recent example of global warming is caused by man. Can we be sure of either? Relatively sure based on the evidence.

I am neither a republican nor democrat.... I consider myself a libertarian. I don't see why people don't believe that it is caused by man. But I don't think it really matters... at some point we are going to run out of fossil fuels, and despite the alarmist claims I would suspect that will happen before any larger catastrophe occurs. We will adapt, our energy will come from better cleaner places as the dynamics change. There is not a lot any of us as individuals can do. We can't stop consuming energy. We can either choose more efficient items now and slow the consumption and slow the warming. Or we can just get it all over with quick and expend what we have forcing us to move on to better fuels more quickly.

I think both sides are acting silly in this "debate" (if it really is one, all I see is two sides stubbornly poking at each other) when what we should really be doing is looking ahead. Global warming is happening. Some of it may be natural, some of it is man-made. What are we going to do as it warms should be the question.

So please stop acting like idiots on both sides with the name calling. It is a very disgusting view of the left and the right from the center.
