I find it amusing that Jon

I find it amusing that Jon Stewart is even-mentioned in this poll. On the one hand, there's all this repeated whinging & teeth-gnashing on the right about people "getting all their news from Colbert & the Daily Show," and then on the other hand NB itself blithely-lumps Stewart right-on-in with "hard news" reporters in NB's own survey. (Perhaps this is because, as with his show's excellent Diebold election-machine "security" story, Stewart occasionally kicks the asses of the "real" journalists with excellent journalism?) Look, I've said it before, I put Stewart in the same category as Fox News commentator John Gibson. Anything either Jon says about the party he's not an obvious fan-of deserves additional scrutiny, but at least Stewart -- like Gibson -- is up-front with his own opinions.

And lately, now that they're in-power, I've noted a number of Stewart digs on Democrats, which is exactly the kind of "fair and balanced" behavior we can expect from a good comic. Also, my usual "the word 'liberal' is now NewSpeak and no longer has any coherent definition anymore, so why not use something halfway-descriptive like 'leftist' instead?" NB-critique applies.

Jon Stewart as MSM

Jon Stewart has become the main source of news for Gen X. I would never call Jon Stewart fair and balanced.  He may be far more fair and balance than KO, but it does not mean he is fair and balanced.

Our real problem, then, is not our strength today; it is rather the vital necessity of action today to ensure our strength tomorrow. Dwight Eisenhower

Liberals

I think the label  "liberal" does have a certain connotation in most people's minds. I think Jon Stewart has the same intentions as the other three -- to present the "news" with a liberal slant. Besides, most so-called "news" programs are simply enterainment anyway. As for the younger generation, they definately believe Stewart presents serious news. They quote him in college "research" papers.

I have to agree. Why did NB

I have to agree. Why did NB staff include a comedian on this poll? Stewart doesn't present his show as straight news, so why should we expect objectivity?

I'm not sure (he has about

I'm not sure (he has about the same level of objectivity as Fox News' Gibson IMO, come to think of it) but I just find it odd that NB patrons can be so-upset when a fake news show on a channel whose first name is "comedy" is treated as real news by teenagers, and then seemingly not-notice-it when NB-itself is treating the fake news anchor on a channel whose first name is "comedy" as a real newsman. I guess it's part of my role around here to cause this kind of occasional stink...

I don't get it either. I'm sure when Fox News launches their Daily Show rebuttal show, they won't have any problem with anyone considering it a "real news" show.

At this point that Fox show is lookin' more & more like vapor...I've already given 'em free clues numerous times right-here about where to look for "actually funny" in the conservative area of the political spectrum, but obviously something's not getting through to the Fox News pointy-haired set...

Jon Stewart should be in this

Jon Stewart should be in this poll because what he says has influence, and he shows an obvious liberal slant, just like all the others in the list.

Why lump a comedic news cas

Why lump a comedic news caster like Stewart in with the rest?

For the same reason the main stream media cried foul about a fictional television show having a nuke go off in America? (Fox's "24")

The media and liberals don't trust Americans to think for themselves! They don't trust us to separate fact and fiction. In this case specifically I understand that a percentage of his audience is not exposed to any other actual news. I don't trust his audience to make rational decisions based on fact.

The only thing evil needs to succeed, is for good people to nothing about it.

So we're at a stalemate then.

They are all liberally biased

They are all liberally biased but I believe that Gregory is the most dangerous because his left wing anti-GOP bias is under the guise of "news". Chris Matthews has never pretended to be totally objective and his program is a "talk" show, not news. Stewart appeals to the 20-something idiot crowd who don't have to get up and go to work in the morning and poor Katie, nobody's watching her anyway so who cares?

For me it's more like,How wid

For me it's more like,
How wide is the gap between how they publicly/professionally disclose their ideology AND their actual ideology???

Matthews and Stewart PLAY at the least "left-friendly" cable/fake news hosts.

Couric and Gregory PLAY completly straight, down-the-middle, serious, immune-from-bias anchor people. Which is a freaking croc of crap. They are just as liberal as Matthews/Stewart and their bias is dripping from their reporting.

I voted for the underweight lover, Katie C.

"everymorning and everyday, I bossa nova with you"

I don't see Gregory as being

I don't see Gregory as being all that biased.  I see him as a flunky reporter who's desperate to get to the anchor desk, and actually thinks he can make it, so he does what he does to get attention.  Stewart gets his annual 15 minutes of newsmaker attention every year, but that doesn't make him a news person.

That leaves Couric and Mathews, which is a tough pick.  I gave the nod to Couric because I've frequently seen Mathews challenge Libs on his show when they make statements that are way over the top, but Couric always just sits there and lets any over-the-top statement go unchallenged.

Let's see, three newscasters

Let's see, three newscasters and one comode-ien.  Well at least he's named appropriately.  Most liberals get their news from the jon.  But they are all four a joke.

The problem that I have with this survey is that liberal bias implies to me that they are just leaning to one side.  These yahoos are all have completely fallen to the left.  They need a emergency alert necklace, "Help I've gone stupid and can't get up!"  These folks wouldn't even make a right turn to get off the highway to hell.

how can mathews lead the way when he has said on multiple occasions that he voted for bush in 2000? i dont think he's very liberally biased i just think he doesn't like bush, wich any real conservative shouldn't either.

Matthews attacks many conservatives on an ongoing basis, not just Bush.  He espouses left wing drivel on a regular basis; there is more to this than simple Bush-hatred.  He attempted to eviscerate Zell Miller after Miller's speech to the RNC in 2004.  I've never heard him state that he voted for Bush in 2000 and, frankly, I wouldn't believe him anyway.

I remember the damage control

I remember the damage control CNN went through on behalf of John Kerry right after his idiotic comment about education and Iraq.  That is just one example of CNN being a water-carrier for the Left.  CNN gets my vote.  It was a shame, during the first Iraqi elections in January of 05 I was on a cruise in the Carribean and I was dying for coverage of the turnout, etc.  Unfortunately all the cruise line had was CNN.
