To listen to Harry Smith, you'd think Mickey was drowning.

ABC, NBC and CBS were so busy with their hysterics about global warming as the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) summary report was released that they missed downward revisions to predictions of rising sea levels.

“Do people here [South Beach, Fla.] know that very likely in the next – well several decades – all of this is going to be underwater?” CBS “Early Show” anchor Harry Smith asked in an interview about the appeal of Miami, Florida.

Oh please Harry! Lets not let the truth get in the way here. Nor should we do any reading before reporting the news. Been winging it for years, why stop now. Besides, those wings will come in handy when the empire state building is under water and Pikes Peak is the sum total land mass of the USA, uh Harry?

Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!

"Media reports following the IPCC release could be summed up like this: 'The earth is warming, it’s mankind’s fault, and no one can question it.'  Yes that's exactly the best way to sum up the phony MSM "reporting".

Knucklehead Sam Champion says the record breaking cold temperatures now don't mean anything because you can't go by day to day temps. Hmmm, if February was having above normal teperatures I wonder if Champion would be linking it to gw.

Meredith Viera asks, "Are we all going to die?" Funny how Larry King asked the same question a few nights ago.

"Do people here [South Beach, Fl.] know that very likely in the next - well several decades - all of this is going to be underwater." Looks like Harry Smith was about to say the liberal's favorite "ten years" before "several decades"! Such unbelievable hogwash. Mickey will be just fine. It's your Mickey Mouse reporting that will be sunk you lying liberal twits!

It's time we took the bull by

It's time we took the bull by the horns and made money with it.

I suggest we put together a consortium of sorts. We pool our money and buy up as much mountain property as possible here in NC. Once we have the steepest, most useless mountain properties available, we start a marketing program targeting wealthy elitist liberals. We sell the properties at 20 times it's value claiming it will be expensive beach front property within the next couple of decades.

CT...think of the money to be

CT...think of the money to be made on Death Valley. Once we buy up all the land around there, when it floods, all the Hollywierd types can own a little place on the beach. We can sell it as investment property. Sarandan and Clooney and Streisand shoud be easy sales.

Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!

"Are we all going to die

"Are we all going to die?"  Yes, Viera, everyone is going to die sooner or later.  Some by accidents, some by drowning, some by heart disease, some by cancer, some by incredible stupidity.  No matter how healthy you eat, no matter how religiously you exercise, no matter how careful you are, sooner or later, you are going to die.

Now, if you meant, "Are we all going to die from global warming," the answer is "don't be f'ing stupid."

This seems to be a common concept that many liberals have missed.  The tone of many of their stories seems to indicate that they actually believe that they can keep people from dying by following their wacky ideas.  The death rate is 100%.  Everyone will be a statistic someday.

Maybe they hope to avoid death so as to avoid the God of truth that have trashed so many times.  I can't imagine what they will face on that day.  Can't imagine they will like the situation.

It's long enough that, once the dire prediction fails, people will forget it was made in the first place.

"What evidence does Harry have to back up this outrageous prediction?"

Evidence? He don't need no stinking evidence. He *feels* like he's right, and that's good enough for him, Gore, and the rest of the enviro-nuts.

Liberalism is the philosophy of the stupid.

Well Harry, I haven't looked

Well Harry, I haven't looked at a topographical map lately, however, unless Global Temperatures reach to at least the Medieval Optimum, the ocean is only going to rise around 18 inches. Is South Beach Florida higher or lower than 18 inches above sea level?

Global Warming

As a person who grew up in the Miami and Miami Beach area in the 50s, and loved it, let me say the following:

Henry Flagler, the man who started Miami Beach in the 20’s for the ‘snow birds’ coming down from New York City, would be amused by it all.

As an entrepreneur, he would simply tell the hotels to raise their entrances up a few floors, and accommodate boats instead of cars.

As for the rhetorical question posited by ABC, “will billions die …..?”, has got to be journalism at its most irresponsible.

However, if the Army Corp of Engineers built the sea walls around Miami Beach, I’d really be worried.

Facts

Every year at this time I come here and and post the latest weather measurement as conducted by NOAH. Well here they are for January.:

From NOAH:World temperatures in January were the highest ever recorded for that month of the year, US government scientists said.

"The combined global land and ocean surface temperature was the
highest for any January on record," according to scientists from the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Climate Data
Center in Asheville, N.C.

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature was 1.53
degrees Fahrenheit (0.85 Celsius) warmer than the 20th-century average
of 53.6 degrees F (12 C) for January based on preliminary data, NOAA
said.

The figures surpass the previous record set in 2002 at 1.28 F (0.71 C) above average.

Land surface temperature was a record 3.40 F (1.89 C) warmer than
average, while global ocean surface temperature was the fourth warmest
in 128 years, about 0.1 F (0.05 C) cooler than the record established
during the very strong El Nino climate phenomenon in 1998.

A moderate El Nino started in September and continued into January before weakening, NOAA said.

El Nino is an occasional seasonal warming of the central and eastern
Pacific Ocean that upsets normal weather patterns from the western
seaboard of Latin America to East Africa, and potentially has a global
impact on climate.

"The presence of El Nino along with the continuing global warming trend contributed to the record warm January," NOAA said.

"The unusually warm conditions contributed to the second lowest
January snow cover extent on record for the Eurasian continent," it
said.

"During the past century, global surface temperatures have increased
at a rate near 0.11 F (0.06 C) per decade, but the rate of increase has
been three times larger since 1976, or 0.32 F (0.18 C) per decade, with
some of the largest temperature increases occurring in the high
latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere," it said.
