February 8, 2007 - 11:32 ET by FastEdTypical of the Globe to get it wrong - if I remember right, the Vp didn't miss, and the cartoon shows plenty off the mark - maybe it has to do with shooting "left-handed"

February 8, 2007 - 11:45 ET by misterbillDee I THINK I get it. Instead of the archer being Cupid/Amor/Eros shooting arrows of love, the Valentine archer is Cheney shooting arrows of death. Very clever, no? NO!! I noted the name of the cartoonist(?) and I guess I flunked my Wasserman test.

February 8, 2007 - 12:28 ET by Mica the MagnificentThe 2 living targets in the cartoon are terrorists, as are the dead people on the ground. The cartoonist is saying that Cheney (representing the Bush administration) is doing what has to be done to protect the American people.
OR it means that Cheney can fly without complaining and doesn't whine about getting a 757 like Nancy "Ace" Pelosi. An obvious slam against the blinking one.

February 8, 2007 - 15:38 ET by steviep831It's obvious from this cartoon that Cheney is being framed. Rumsfeld is actually shooting arrows from a grassy knoll just off the edge of the cartoon. I think the arrow's ballistics would provide enough evidence to clear Cheney. ;)

It's not like he's a serial killer that goes around trying to shoot people with a shotgun.

February 8, 2007 - 12:44 ET by blarsenDifference being is if I'm hunting (and I do) and shoot somebody in the face with a shotgun, the police will question me and possibly give me a breathalyzer test. Cheney wasn't subject to any of this, he was isolated from law enforcement. Well, when the President does it, that means that it is not illegal. -Richard Nixon

"...he was isolated from law enforcement."
I'm sure the Secret Service would be offended by this comment.
Cheney's hunting accident has been reviewed, dissected and abused by nearly everyone both in and out of the cartoon and it has never been proven that he was 'isolated' from law enforcement. It isn't true.
Truth is a real problem for you, huh?

February 9, 2007 - 08:28 ET by DontFeedTheTrollsNo, no no! You've all got it wrong! This cartoon represents "Bush's Quagmire". His warrior (uneducated, he was forced to join the military) is shown as an incompetent child (hence the diaper) shooting at everything (killing civilians) and missing most targets (ruining the environment and wasting energy, causing Global Warming). The people running away (Pelosi and Murtha) have a taxpayer funded plane to catch, and a press conference to attend and don't want to be tainted (hit by an arrow) by "Bush's Quagmire".

February 8, 2007 - 11:42 ET by acaiguanaAh, the Globe. Wasn't one of the NYT's excuses - the Globe?
If I recall reading the financial news correctly, when the NYT announced it's $600 million plus loss for 2006 (since reduced for unknown reasons to this reader by the MSM to only $547 million); they blamed losses at the Globe for a bunch of this money.
And the NYT publisher says we (or you or somebody) will have to 'pay' to read them online.
Why?
Well, he didn't get into that. He didn't get into a lot of stuff. But the Globe is another world. That's where they send their really bad reporters (and cartoonists it appears).
I am watching the demise of America's great newspapers as I live. I never realized this was going to happen. It is interesting to say the least. Newspapers always have printed to the reader prior to 1970. I am not sure what caused their thinking to change.
Now they preach to the reader and ignore entire parts of the picture. That never has worked. The best newspapers (in spite of their liberal bent) over the past 20 years I have read were the 'street' papers freely distributed in most cities. Most of them have 'City' in their names.
They contain a lot of really good writing and also discussion about issues local to their communities. Washington DC has one and so does San Francisco. They survive on advertising revenues. And they advertise mostly cultural events or bands or theater.
If these 'alternative' rags can survive, why can't 'mainstream' press survive?
Oh well, just another thought in my silly brain.
