If you wake up on Saturday mornings and flip on the telly hoping to catch solid Wall Street analysis or perhaps a roundup of foreign and domestic business headlines that affect your investment portfolio, don't waste your time with CNN's "In the Money."
Rather than looking to help average joes invest wisely and benefit from a strong economy and a resilient stock market, the CNN crew would much rather sound like Heidi Cullen hosting a movie night/slumber party for the Al Gore fan club.
Freelance writer and former BMI intern Rachel Waters has the story here at BusinessandMedia.org.

Vranes noted these uncertainties have not been properly communicated to the public. In the same article, Vranes responded to this statement - "global warming is the most carefully and fully studied scientific topic in history" - with exasperation: "When I hear things like that, I go crazy."
Couldn' agree more Mr. Varnes, couldn't agree more!
By the way...I hear the citrus crops are in danger tonight in Florida, must be their turn since Ca. has had theirs....man that Global Warming is workin' it's magic!

Joking about exceptions to the trend line of average temperatures creates so much noise that it makes serious discussion about it almost impossible. As I understand it, even the proponents of global warming only claim a less than one degree average temperature change over the last fifty years. Obviously with that miniscule a difference, given it's even true, 49.999% of weather events are going to be below the trend line, and that, to ordinary human observation is indistinguishable from a 50:50 situation. Hence libs and conservatives have virtually equal chances to make fun of each other, if, for some silly reason, they want to pick opposite sides of the question.
Now I find that Newsbusters complaints of liberal jokes about it in the media to be a bit precious -- just look at the jokes that appear here all the time, for a counter-example.
I've been living in Alberta for most of the past 50 years, while you southeners will hopefully continue to be too confused to spot the trend when and if it happens. It definitely helps if I keep the joking going on though. Since while you guys are managing not to do anything about it, I've been applying the most powerful force in the Universe to help my side....
Just imagine: 50 unopposed years of praying for Global Warming!

It's now 48 degrees.
Which is positively frigid here.
Maybe down to 40 tonite. On the coast.
The coldest I've ever seen it here was 25 degrees. The ocean was steaming. I hope to see it again in my lifetime (and I'm a native Floridian).
Maybe next year...time and Mother Nature will reveal all.

January 30, 2007 - 09:00 ET by danboyep No idea of trends. Like that it's been getting warmer since the little ice age. Maybe the warmers will come up with a real trend. Like summer is warmer than winter.
BTW what happened in the 40's -60's CO2 levels went down?

January 29, 2007 - 19:23 ET by AJScrew the economy. We need to be more concerned about something that we can't do a danged thing about (assuming that "dang thing" exists... ie, global warming).

AJ - sorry to disagree
January 30, 2007 - 09:35 ET by misterbillAJ - sorry to disagree--but- I have a theory about it. If all the libs were to wear their tinfoil hats outside, the rays from the sun would be reflected away from earth. This would reverse the warming of earth.
Next question?
