Bill O’Reilly’s war on liberal bias at NBC took an interesting turn Sunday evening when one of the network’s hit dramas decided to attack Ann Coulter for no apparent reason (h/t Hot Air with video available here).
As Dr. Nigel Townsend (Steve Valentine) attended to a whiny blonde woman, he asked, “So, how long have you suffered from “ACS”? When she gives him a blank stare, he responded: “Ann Coulter Syndrome, wherein the afflicted gains strength through the hatred of others.”
She answered in a voice clearly designed to somewhat sound like Coulter:
Niceness is overrated. I never saw the point. It’s all based on lies anyway. “How are you?” “Have a nice weekend.” The truth is I don’t give a crap how you are or what kind of a weekend you have.
Nice caricature of a best-selling author, wouldn’t you agree?

How long have you had MSM Syndrome? The ability to witness protestors as naked communists, aging earth mothers with bowling pin chests and their blatant, unquestionable hatred for America, yet report it as the main stream mood in America.

January 29, 2007 - 11:11 ET by mattmYour analogy is flawed in one tiny respect... Their characterization of Coulter is exactly WRONG, whereas your characterization of them is right.
Understanding Liberalism 101: Lesson 2: The accusations and insults Liberals level against Conservatives actually define Liberals.
i.e. They accuse conservatives of narrow-mindedness, bigotry and hate...while they scream for the stoning death of a conservative Senator, opine for the heart-failure of a conservative Justice, or make movies fantasizing on the assassination of the Republican President...

January 29, 2007 - 11:16 ET by BruzillaI believe the definition of a new "hit show" on NBC is one that's still on after three episodes and that at least one person who's not employed by NBC or the show's production company (or their mothers) watches. If it weren't for all of the Law & Order offshoots they wouldn't have any ratings.

And by the way, if NBC hates Coulter so much, don't they have the same ACS by bashing her?

January 29, 2007 - 11:35 ET by Steve L.I will give them credit for one thing, though. After the scene in question, the woman was confronted by a bat-wielding mugger. The guy who accused her of having "ACS" cowered like a baby and told her to give the mugger what he wanted. Instead of being a victim, she took the bat away from the mugger and threatened to kill him with it and feed his kidneys to her dog.
On the other hand...
July 15, 2008 - 23:44 ET by Tom1969caIf the woman was truly an Ann Coulter-type, she'd have pulled a .38 Special out of her handbag and popped the mugger between the eyes.
Then fed his kidneys to her dog.

January 29, 2007 - 12:45 ET by kevcadThis sort of "Republican/conservatives/Chirstian/traditional" (have I left anything out?) bashing stuff is rife everywhere on the TV. It would take a NASA-sized mission control room full of TV screens that monitor all the channels out there to prove this notion. I know the Brent Bozell's do their darndest to point all this out, but it might take a more Herculean effort to really impact and change things around.
Speaking of NBC shows, "Scrubs" routinely does this with one of its popular characters, Dr. Cox. Just watch the syndicated re-runs for this pattern.

January 30, 2007 - 07:58 ET by USA4freedomThe one good ting about this kind of dribble is it keeps proving the point just how bias the TV is. My Mother-in-law is a screaming lib as her daughter was. My wife now is a card carrying member of the NRA. She or her mother never saw it before but my wife catches it every time now. She will point it out to her mom. Her mom is a hopeless case though…
