DC Protest Suggests War Opposition Weak

  • Bookmark and Share

While the MSM may try to spin today's DC war protest as a major event, apparently relatively few people showed up to hear actor Tim Robbins call for the impeachment of President Bush. He also suggested Bush would end his presidency in a bunker, as did Adolf Hitler. Yes, he said that, I listened via C-Span.

There's legitimate reason to claim anti-war support isn't what some might like to make it out to be.

Organizers expected hundreds of thousands of protesters. Early reports are indicating tens of thousands may have showed up. But the real problem for the anti-war movement is this from Talk Left almost four years ago to the day.

The Denver Post is calling it " the largest war protest since Vietnam"--in huge letters, on the front page. Good for them.

Intervention Magazine has this first hand account by senior editor Regis T. Sabol, which begins:

From the grounds in front of the US Capitol, on the Mall, a sea of a quarter million Americans -- regardless of the number that the networks are reporting -- braved biting cold under a beaming sun to oppose the Bush regime's plan to invade Iraq "any day now."

Given that they can't use the weather as an excuse, it would seem the peaceniks (Charles has pics up) lost a couple hundred thousand folks somewhere along the way.

It would appear there will be a surge in Iraq and the surge in peaceniks, as usual, is going the wrong way. But I wouldn't wait for the MSM to tell you that.

I guess it got too cold for the global warmers to show up.

LOL! I'd contribute to a fund to fly zombie all over the country to get the entertainment value of seeing her famous photo essays on a wider variety of moonbattery. I mean, we expect that level of craziness out of SanFran, but I agree that it would be nice to get zombie's special brand of visual commentary on some of the so-called "mainstream" protests like this one. The MSM is highly unlikely to show the craziest of the crazies in the crowd (unless they're among the token conservative counterprotesters, that is).

Kindred spirits. :-) That's why I hang out here and at Hot Air. I have to avoid talking politics to friends and even some family members because I'm so conservative and inflexible about my beliefs that I invariably offend them. I even managed to upset my husband the other day talking about politics, and we agree about 98% of the time! So if I ever offend you, know that you're in very good company. ;-)

I don't know if I've ever ticked off my wife.  I think I've made her family upset a few times with my politics. But they're pretty much dixiecrats - even though they live in Oklahoma.  My wife goes along with just about anything I say when it comes to politics.  My daughter calls anyone a democrat who is mean to her, or doesn't clean their room.  I'm worried about my oldest boy. He whines about doing anything. I think he may become a liberal. lol j/k ;)

Tinfoil Hats

It looks like "Zombie" was supporting the event.  If not then I guess I didn't read the post well enough.  However I love the tinfoil hats the participants were wearing.  The logical side of me says that they were wearing them to better reflect the tripe they were spewing on the beach.  If so then the unintended humor of loonies wearing tinfoil hats was brilliant.

Rihar,

Eric Turner posted the link to Zombie's site, which was the first time I've seen it.  It is a riot.  Apparently Zombie covers all of the freakazoid protests in the San Fran area.....and there are some real winners on her site.  I particularly liked the one with the gas guzzling cars sporting "green" bumper stickers.  Posted with the m.p.g. for each vehicle.  The Anarchist Book Fair has its fair share of crazy moonbat pics as well.

These BEACH IMPEACH protesters and their tinfoil hats are hillarious.  And your comment about the unintended humor of the situation was spot-on.

Zombie didn't support the eve

Zombie didn't support the event--she infiltrated it. She had to blend in by acting and looking like a moonbat so they wouldn't suspect her true mission and tear her limb from limb (peacefully).

And, yes, the tinfoil hats seemed to be a spontaneous thing that they did not apparently intend to be as humorous as it was.

The fact is that people are not passionately opposed to the Iraq war.   It does not have a direct day to day input on people. The constant anti-war banter from the news bimbized media has led people to think things are not going well. But all in all no one really cares.

War Protesters

I find these people amazing. I just got through reading a report from the Associated Press (don't know why I read it knowing their slant) and it was all about how people said how Bush had destroyed Iraq, how the Bush administration was mean spirited and vengeful. Well look at the pot calling the kettle black! And then the moronic AP writers quoted a 12 year old protester! 12 YEARS OLD! I almost laughed! Do these people not realize that the the TERRORISTS are the ones destroying their own country and their fellow Arabs' country?

Was this thing supported by ANSWER again?

Peaceniks Won't Win If America Grows A Spine

I really didn't tune into this today. I saw some segments about it but that's about it. I read some interviews reporters did with some active duty military members and one really struck me. It was with this enlisted Air Force member who said she signed up with the Air Force in a wave of patriotism but now sees through the "lies." What exactly were those lies? Since the Air Force is firing 40,000 of it's civilian, enlisted, and officer members, I sure hope they consider her as a possibility. Perhaps she'll volunteer to separate or encouraged to join the Army. Won't that be such fun? She can fight a war that she demeans (along with criticizing those who fight it) and I'm sure she won't last 5 minutes without whining about how good she had it in the Air Force. Yeah, yet another proud moment for all military members and their spouses to feel reassured that THEIR service is valued by this country. Until America grows a spine, these peaceniks will always swamp the airwaves (and hold sway with the ignorant and easily influenced).

The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer.  Air Force Motto

The  party is also over for Iran.  They've been put on notice, as well.
