With the love-fest that is currently going on over Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois), it is certainly no surprise when a group of mainstream media members gets together to discuss Hillary Clinton’s shortcomings. Yet, it is quite odd to hear someone like Chris Matthews state that the current frontrunner for the 2008 Democrat presidential nomination – and a former first lady – is a female incarnation of one of the biggest left-wing failures in decades (video available here courtesy of our friend at Ms Underestimated). (Please also see update with a humorous photoshopped picture of the one to the right!)
To set this up, the panel in the first segment of Sunday’s “The Chris Matthews Show” was discussing presidential candidates. As they moved in Al Gore’s direction, Norah O’Donnell stated that Democrat party leaders are concerned about Hillary’s chances in the general election, and that a more senior and experienced candidate like Gore might be the ticket so to speak.
That precipitated this rather shocking exchange between O’Donnell and Matthews:

O’Donnell: And it’s not necessarily on the war. But they want, the Democrats are so sick of losing. They just want someone that can win a general election.
Matthews: Why do they think she won’t win a general?
O’Donnell: Because they believe that she is too polarizing a figure because of her past.
Matthews: Dukakis in a dress.
Amazing.

Sun, 01/21/2007 - 22:38 ET by BW222I am very conservative and find myself at odds with our President with increasing frequency. In my opinion, the shots of Bush riding in the BP dune buggy was every bit as ridiculous as the Dukakis tank photo. Dukakis didn't care about defense; Bush doesn't care about securing the borders.
His political instincts are spot on
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 22:48 ET by UnsaneConsidering the Congressmen elected to Congress over the years, and the current makeup of the Congress, it seems to me that you are pissed at Bush for using his political instincts. He doesn't care because apparently not many of us do, either. Well, at least that's the message the voters keep sending to Washington.
Since we want the borders secured, there is only one option. DEMAND it.

Mon, 01/22/2007 - 09:41 ET by NeoCon JediNeither does the Democrat-controlled Congress, since "Queen Pelosi" said the money for the new 900-mile fence approved last year, won't be allocated. It's not just President Bush, it's the whole damn Congress who won't protect our borders. They are so desperate for the Hispanic vote, they will weaken this country by allowing more and more illegal immigrants in and granting amnesty and opening our borders. I guarantee you, the next terrorist attack in the U.S. will be a result of the holes in our border security.

Mon, 01/22/2007 - 00:03 ET by Del DolemonteAs one who lived in Boston during the Dukakis reign, I still fail to understand how the National Democratic Party could have been so out to lunch as to make him their standard-bearer in a national election. Not only was the guy a total hack, but the objective national media pretty much covered up his wife's problems, which included alcohol and drug use.
Of course, when Bill Clinton "didn't inhale" he got a pass, but when Dubyah admitted an alcohol problem he was widely accused of being a "dry drunk".
And now Osama Hussein Obama is getting a complete pass, despite admitting to cocaine and marijuana use earlier in his life. Doing this stuff is perfectly OK, but only if you belong to the correct political party.
In addition, in the first Presidential debate, CNN's Bernie Shaw opened up by asking Duke:
"Governor, if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered, would you favor an irrevocable death penalty for the killer?"
The answer?
"No, I don't, Bernard"
By the way, I can recall a memorable "Boston Phoenix" picture feature back then where they printed pictures of Duke standing proudly next to his open refrigerator door, showing its contents. That alone convinced me the guy would never be President. Why? Beacsue the fridge was empty.

Matthews and Obama worship
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 03:51 ET by SportPoliticsDid you catch the NYTer's quip on Obama everyone ?
"Obama has the personality of Estaire and the soul of Dick Gephardt." At that O'Donnel did her White Chicks dong party laugh of approval.
Right after ODonnel said Hillary couldn't win a general election according to the people and she agreed, Chrissy flashed his now secret yet formerly revealed 12 panel bigshot lib news insiders voters numbers and Hillary beat Obama 7 to 5 in being able to win the general election. O'Donnel then immediately switched her seconds ago former opinion, to the instantly poll changed new one, and declared she thinks Hillary can win the general election because she has more experience. Another live member added she has the political machine to do it.
It's an amazing thing, how the newshead idiot instantly changed her opinion, because their host showed them his 12 insiders poll. LOL WOW. 7 to 5, and she still felt compelled to change her seconds before stance and flip flop over to Hillary wins. Amazing. What tremendous insight.
Idiots sitting around and speculating. Chrissy, Finemann, NYT blabberer, O'Donnel, and the laugher from the Atlantic JC. Is the guy from the NYT the conservative balancer? Oh, sorry, it's Matties show.
AJC lady is now saying Al Gore can be the big winner. Must be the global warming thing she's so hip on.
Getting close to 20 minutes, and so far it's been blubbering on about the great democrats who can win the next presidential election. Guess what, so far, they all can ! Obama can win, he most anti-war. Hillary can win, she has the 12 vote Chrissy win and the machine. Gore can win, he is the senior staesman who won the most votes ever. Initially, it was Edwards who can win, because he's ahead in that IOWA anti-war poll.
Wow- they all win !!!! They all win !!! yayyyy! yayyyyy!! Where's balboa, he can celebrate with his insane liberal friends. All 4 demo potus perps take the crown !!!
Thanks Chrissy, your show makes me feel so, so good.

Mon, 01/22/2007 - 08:29 ET by Ruths husband BenII think we are beginning to see the Democratic party tear itself to shreds. The cause: Even they are polarized between the merely Liberals and the Looney-toon liberals. The effect of the radical left is going to kill them. The win in the last election is just enough red meat to bring out the claws, but not enough to satisfy their hunger.
The thing for the Conservatives to do now, is to solidify our base, clean up our own house and get ready now for '08. We don't need to do anything to assist the Libs in self-destructing. They can't help themselves.

Mon, 01/22/2007 - 09:19 ET by Jack BauerAMBER ALERT...
Police in Washington DC have issued an Amber Alert for a group of small kids in the care of Children's Service.
The kids went missing Sunday after being promised candy and soda pop by a middle-aged woman dressed in a Pant Suit and fake smile.
D.C. police say the kids were last seen being dragged kicking and screaming by the same women onto a podium in front of 50 reporters.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for any information on the woman going under the alias of Cruella de Whiteville.
