Fans of Fox News's the "O'Reilly Factor" are familiar with a war started by the host over liberal bias in the media. It appears that Bill O'Reilly's employer is also interested in this fight, and that the battle over media bias is on:

For its opening salvo, Fox News aired a new promo Saturday which pointed a huge and unmistakably accusatory finger at its liberal competitors (hat tip to Hot Air with video available here). In it, the script deliciously read:
The Only Cable News Channel That Does Not Bring You The Usual Left Wing Bias
I’m verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.

January 21, 2007 - 12:49 ET by Dave RCan't wait to see the uproar this is going to cause among the DimLib MSM crowd. They are going to have what my mom used to call a conniption fit over this.
Now, I cannot say I have ever personally witnessed a conniption fit, but it doesn't sound like a good thing.

January 21, 2007 - 12:57 ET by sarcasmoWhat I want to see out of Fox News (well, among other things, like actual intelligent coverage of the total abrogation of the 10th Amendment instead of what they've been doing up to now!) is their now-long-rumored humor show. Even if it crashes & burns -- which seems likely, given the time they're taking on neverinhell getting-done making it -- it'll still be funny to those of us who like to watch jokes bomb...

If they actually use funny performers like "The Daily Show" has, I can't see how it can fail. Just being good enough would draw the vast majority of conservatives over to it. In fact, if it were competing with "The Daily Show" or "The Colbert Report," those two would eventually wind up in second place, IMO.
Of course, if they have Laura Ingraham hosting it, then that would be a problem. While I think she's terrific as a guest and non-comedic host, she doesn't have the skills of a Stewart or Colbert.
I can't see how it can fail
January 21, 2007 - 14:33 ET by sarcasmoI can't see how it can fail to be funny (perhaps unintentionally, in some cases!) but I can definitely see how it could fail, even with Fox's larger than Comedy Central audience to start-with. Funny people, even funny conservatives, aren't always good at doing a long funny show. For example, Fox New's recent five minute Dennis Miller spots are, to me, very much a success. On the other hand, when Dennis tried to be funny with the NFL job, it was usually groaner-ville and a total failure. Same comic, different situations where he can either shine or not. Anyway, whatever Fox is doing, they're sure taking their sweet time doing it!!! When was that announcement, anyway??

You're right about Miller and the NFL, but I don't think too many comedians could have succeeded in that role. Could you imagine Jon Stewart (who I think is funny on his show) doing any better? I can't.

January 21, 2007 - 22:44 ET by sarcasmoStewart? No, I can't see him doing it. But I think Artie Lange would be hilarious -- of course, the NFL would need a delay to bleep when he cursed. Artie would be especially funny if the NFL did the politically-incorrect thing & let him bet on the game and especially funny if he's losing money.

January 21, 2007 - 14:41 ET by gueinThis is an interesting strategy by FNC. How does CNN or MSNBC counter this add, other than just criticizing it. They can't simply run an opposing add asking if everyone is tired of news with the usual right-wing bias, unless they are just trying to make us all laugh. I think if there is any response at all from the MSM, it will only help FNC. This could be a ploy by Roger Ailes to get KO to name him worst person in the world, having grown jealous of BOR continuoulsy getting the nod.

January 21, 2007 - 17:09 ET by cunservatyveMan, is that EVER the truth! I always love to hear the others on MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, et al. complain about Fox News' "conservative bias." The way I look at it, Fox is the only one on cable/broadcast actually TELLING BOTH SIDES OF THE STORY. When you've never heard a conservative viewpoint, it's obvious why those viewpoints sound like bias!
The MSM needs to hire consultants to analyze its own reporting sometime, but they'll just say, "that's what "mainstream" America thinks." WRONG!

Then again, the liberal tards think FoxNews has more viewers than anyone and everything else, and has "taken over", and of course their anxiety and hyperventilating over Fox hammers their insanity down and out for all to see.

January 22, 2007 - 21:50 ET by emjem24You've got to be kidding. You seriously can't be that stupid, right? How is this a smear campaign when it's the truth? If you haven't watched it (which I have seriously doubts that you have) then don't comment on it unless you're truthful about your viewing habits. Your bias is showing, mel.

January 22, 2007 - 02:47 ET by PeskyDaneI still find the obsession with Fox News by the Extreme Left interesting. I'm amused that a news organizaton whose business model (remember libtards, we're in a market economey here) is to appeal to mainstream Middle America, rather than to speak in an eco-chamber is somehow labled as "conservative." I guess if your views are extreme, then anything slight to the right of Stalin is "conservative."
Fox News is not conservative, its a mainstream news and information delivery model which get its marching orders from their board and stockholders, not the DNC.

January 22, 2007 - 12:24 ET by dscottIt sounds like a copy cat marketing plan to me. This is the Trump/O'Donnell tiff on a grander scale to grab market ratings share. Good move on Fox's part. When are the Neilsen's ratings sweeps occuring? I think we are going to see more of this in the coming months.

January 22, 2007 - 21:45 ET by emjem24I absolutely love the new promo bits. Here's one for instance: "America Has Problems; The Problem Is Not America." Would any network have the hutzpuh to do that? The libs would never say anything in defense of this country and you can take that to the bank.
