If the timing came as a bit of surprise, nothing could have been less unexpected than Hillary's "I'm In" announcement of today.
But have a look at the video of her announcement. Rather than her "let's chat" rap, please focus on the background. Look out the door. Presumably the announcement was shot in one of Hillary's homes: Chappaqua or Georgetown. Now I know it's been a mild winter, but even so, surely the leaves are gone from the trees and bushes in either spot. And check out the yellow spot in the bushes. At first I thought it was just a warm dapple of sunshine. But freeze the frame when, about 1/4 of the way through, Hillary says "how to end the deficits that threaten Social Security." That's not sunshine -- those are flowers in bloom.
The announcement is essentially content-free. All Hillary talks about is having a conversation. Not only is it devoid of any solutions, it notably fails to make reference to any specific current events. If this had been taped in the last couple days, could Hillary have resisted referring to her just-completed trip to Iraq? True, she does mention starting conversations "Monday," but it could have always been the plan to roll out the announcement over a weekend.
So, what's the story? Did Hillary have this video in the can during all those months while she was claiming to be making up her mind? Was it a carefully staged artificial background? Minor points in the great scheme of things, but perhaps interesting for us political junkie types.
Wouldn't you love to see a reporter put the question to Hillary and see how she answers?
UPDATE: A national-level reporter whom I respect informs me that the video was
produced last week in DC. The reporter does not know whether the
background is natural.

January 20, 2007 - 10:37 ET by iveseenitallDrivel. Hillary and Bill Clinton hardly ever make a speech without saying or implying it's "us" vs. "them". They divided this nation more than any administration in history. She is a left wing ideologue and a fellow traveler. Don't ever let her fool you.

She may be trying to portray herself as moderate, but she most certainly is not! We've heard the talk for years, that "Hilla the Hun" is gonna run! Now confirmed. January 21, 2007 - 12:47 ET by errant1Yes, you are so right. Very near the beginning of the Clinton regime, it was announced that we got 2 (Presidents) for the price of one. They gave her the title of co-president, until that didn't go over so well. But, as you are correct to point out, she most certainly continued to hold that position, albeit unofficially. She is generally considered to be the "brains" of the Clinton crime family, with hubby "BJ" Bill being the mouthpiece or spokesperson, and who relishes his ability to lie about any scandal that arises. Togerther, they are the Lion, er Lyin' King and Queen. Only brain-dead fools believe anything that pair says.

I haven't seen the tape, so I'll have to ask: did the camera pan left to right thereby making Hillary appear to move to the left in the image? If so, was the cameraman making a statement that perhaps he was not impressed by her? Or, did the camera pan in such a way as to make Hillary appear to move to the right, trying to convince the electorate that Hillary isn't a Marxist-socialist? Or, neither?

Billy boy has had girlfriends the entire time they've been married. Now why would that be necessary, if they're the loving, happy couple they try to portray? Hillary has been unofficially "outed" on more than one occasion. The one time, was about 10 years ago, when Dick Morris was offering up possible reasons for Bill's involvement with Monica. As with all things Clinton, things aren't usually as they appear and are quite often found to be totally fraudulent. Yep, sure got that right. Best not to believe a word out of their mouths, and the same goes for their propaganda machine mouthpieces.

January 21, 2007 - 11:10 ET by Dave Rerrant1,
That's just it. Everyhing about the Clinton's is a manufactured illusion, created to help them appear more human. The sham marriage between her and Billy Boy is but one glaring example. In fact, the only evidence that the two ever even had physical relations is that we have Chelsea around. For all we know, it could have been an artificially induced pregnancy.
The funny (or not-so-funny) thing is that it is all so transparently obvious to any observer with even the most rudimentary analytical skills. What really surprises me is the number of people that will take huge personal risks, up to and including doing jail time, in aiding them in this effort. What I find even more disturbing is the huge number of people in this country who seem to buy this stuff, but who really should know better. Scary stuff, if you ask me.

Once, during the Clinton regime, a clear thinking (conservative) pointed out that the biggest propaganda machine since Nazi Germany was being operated out of the White House! I so very much agree that it is all so transparently obvious. Only the kool-aid drinkers, the most blatantly polititically partisan, can possibly believe any of the empty rhetoric or propaganda. Again, I wholeheartedly agree that it's scary, really scary, that anybody puts any faith in anything they say. As has been said before, it is obvious that Liberalism is a mental disorder! January 21, 2007 - 03:38 ET by SportPoliticsHillary's chance of a prison term, zero. Sad it is.
Heck, did you even get to see a picture or a news mock-up of the constructon trailer, or an overhead line map drawing of where Sandy the Socks Burglar tossed the stolen above top secret files ? Noone did that, the press decided to forget it ever happened the moment they reported it, two years late.
I was waiting for that special prosecutor report on the Clinton's but Levin and Waxman blocked it for two years, then had it redacted, and the press skipped it.
Dude, there's like no chance either of them will pay for their crimes, which easily exceed anything Nixon ever pulled. They have their syndicate Arkancide, and whatever else they've accumulated in connections, and of course the left would never step up and pay on principle. The clintoons will keep their tens of millions and demand everyone else make fun of the Bush tax cut.
Yes, what you say is true.
January 21, 2007 - 13:19 ET by errant1Yes, what you say is true. And during the '04 election and since, the propaganda spewing Lib-tards have continued to demonize Richard Nixon and the Nixon administration as the most corrupt of all time. Sorry, those of us with a functioning brain who care enough to pay attention to WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON know that the Clinton administration was far and away the most corrup of all time. Janet Reno, the Clinton's highest ranking cover-up specialist, who attempted to act like our Attorney General. Al Gore, Buddhist Temple fund raiser; also, phone calling for fund raising while supposedly serving the nation. The cover up and what-have-you surrounding the untimely death of Vince Foster. Sandy "the Burglar" Berger. And, that's only the tip of the iceberg. In truth, the corruption of the Clintons would seem to eclipse that of the total of the next half dozen most corrupt administrations. What WASN'T deceitful or dishonest during the Clinton years? As Rush was quick to point out, they were lying to us every day! And, look at how many people have ened up dead or in prison because of them. They are the epitome of crooked lawyers. January 20, 2007 - 12:04 ET by jeffjohnmoI can't tell for sure if it's a flower or the sun. On the closer freeze frame it could be flower but in the larger picture it looks like part of the sun coming through.
If it was taped very recent, one reason that the bushes could still be green is if the bushes are of the evergreen variety. I've got a few inches of snow right now and my rhododendron and laurel bushes still have all their green leaves (I'm further north than the Clinton's Chappaqua house). My azaleas still have most of their leaves though some have dropped because I think this variety is considered a semi-evergreen. I think most camellias keep their foliage in winter too (although I'm not familiar with how far north camellias can go). It's not uncommon to have these type of bushes near the house as they are frequently used for foundation plantings. Their retention of leaves look more attractive against a house in winter than do bare bushes.
My grass is still green too like her's which can be seen really well towards the end of the video (when the shot goes wider and shows more sunlight in the upper right corner).

It's all been propaganda to make the current President and administration to look so bad to people that even someone so unethical, dishonest, and totally corrupt as Hillary the Hun will look like an attractive alternative. January 21, 2007 - 03:34 ET by errant1Speaking of Air Force plane crash in Croatia, that would be the one that took the life of Commerce Secretary Ron Brown. The same Ron Brown who was head of the DNC and instrumental in getting Bill elected. The same Ron Brown who was under investigation by the Justice Department at the time of the crash. The same Ron Brown who allegedly was going to talk - to tell all, to the Justice Dept. - and was going to name names. Wasn't that so very convenient for the corrupt Clintons that the plane crashed when it did? Were it not for bad luck for a number of people around the Clintons, they might have exposed to the world a crime family operating in the White House. Good old Bob Woodward sure let our country down by not doing an in-depth expose` of the crooked Clintons. He could have received great acclaim for taking down a sitting President! Sadly, instead, we got two people who managed to be above the law, as far as justice is concerned.

It is beyond a shadow of a doubt that they have been utilized to see that people who might expose the Clinton corruption get silenced (permanently). Although it's rarely talked about, both Hillary, from Chiacago, and Bill, from Arkansas, both have some PERSONAL ties to the mob. They just say that "something needs to be done" about so-and-so, and it happens. Interesting that you mentioned the name of the first person that Bill got pregnant after marrying Hillary, whose death got reported, and of couse never fully investigated, as a suicide. The Clinton crime family is way too powerful, and it's impossible to recognize who's working for them, doing their "dirty work", until it's too late!

That no one in law enforcement or the Justice Department has been able to hold them accountable for their actions is what's the most disturbing! The network of corruption they've put in place is positively mind-blowing, when you stop and think about it! That these criminals, masquerading as politicans, are able to get away with anything and everything! Heaven help us!

January 20, 2007 - 18:08 ET by jdhawkHillary Clinton's politics aside, I would never vote for her for the simple reason she is a coward. She let her serial filandering husband go out on her time and again and didn't do squat about it. I hardly want a person of so little character in charge of our nation.
Even this no nothing, no experience ultra liberal black Islamic from Indonesia looks better than Hillary to me. His politics aside, it appears that he has pulled himself up by his bootstraps to get ahead in America.

The political whore is gettin' whats comin' to her, from her own side of the aisle.
LMAO!
Btw...I still would not be surprised if they do not team up, Osama Obama has his own agenda though for now, we shall see.... going to be interesting in the next year or so.

It'll becomoe the standard cry, how can you NOT vote for a "woman" and an "african american"? They will use the anti-woman and race card to fill the guilty void in our PC culture.

January 20, 2007 - 18:30 ET by ucAs I "learned everything I needed to know about life in Kindegarten" either the year before, or year of, Bill and Hillary's start of Law School across town. As I wrote original material about a need for change in America's policy direction before I have since been able to find any material quoting Clinton with such thoughts. As I stopped supporting Clinton on eve of Democratic Convention and was pleased that four columns on NYT op-ed page ran with my desired editorial positioning. As I wondered whether Clinton's who got to office almost exclusively thanks to Ross Perot and only with 37% (not much more than numbers portrayed by MSM as deadly for any President). As I had reservations about Bill trying to go uptown while his supporters still had years of struggles ahead of them. As I had a great time at cook-out in Chapaqua (sp?) during my wait for Clinton to leave office years - ultimate frisbee league days (three a week). As Clinton I mean didn't end up down town as he tried as escape did end up readvised in futuristic Harlem (uptown.). The gloves are off with every part of Hillary's past public and political life with Bill - no question shouldn't be asked by media. Is this only a vendetta to drag bill and Paula and bill and jennifer and bill and Monica out in the public arena again and yes for vengence?

January 20, 2007 - 18:32 ET by nkviking75What I find interesting is that Hillary made a canned announcement without hoardes of screaming supporters or pesky reporters around. It reminds me of a speech by Queen Elizabeth to her subjects. Hillary left nothing to chance, like a wacky Cindy Sheehan interruption or one impertinent reporter's question. She didn't have to risk having Obama's name come up. Just the kind of courage is takes to be President, don't you think?

Shades of "down-the-hillary care". Follow-up: How come there was such "little" coverage of her visit? Could it be that her handelers knew she'd get from the troops wasn't going to be chocolates and roses?

January 20, 2007 - 23:59 ET by HumanEventsSo the day has arrived when the Dragon Lady annouces she's running in '08. I said last year that she'd announce between January and March '07. Everyone knew she was running. Well ... sadly, not everyone. But isn't it incredible that anyone would be that gullible to believe her (and the Great Stainmaker too, for that matter) that her running is up in the air? She kept dodging the question so New Yorkers would re-elect her as Senator. What suckers! And how pathetic that she says she will now spend the next 2 years as Senator to "do everything in my power to limit the damage George W. Bush can do." Boy that's really representing New Yorkers. She's going to be solely focused on the Presidency and, like every other Democrat, attacking Bush on a daily basis.
I've also said for about a couple of years now that I think she'll be the next President. Sadly, I still feel this terrible fate is upon us. "Associates of Clinton say she will be capable of raising tens of millions of dollars in the year to come." Add to that the fact that the Clintons don't play fair and never get held accountable for any crime or wrongdoing (eg. HiLIARy's illegal campaign fundraising in 2000 and Sick Willie's Lippogate, INS gate, and many others in '96). And then the fact that the MSM will do everything it can to sell this demonette to the masses and it looks likely that we are doomed. What will be interesting to see is if the GOP candidate will have the guts to tell the country how corrupt and dangerous she is. Or will he merely stick to "issues, not insults" as Bubba conned Dole into in '96 (as if pointing out all of Bill's numerous scandals in his first term would be insults! And as if Democrats would ever keep silent on a Republican scandal!). Well if John McCain is the candidate we know what the answer to that is. He appeared with her last year on "Meet the Press" and said that he is sure she would make a good president! That statement right there shows he himself would be a terrible president since he thinks that!
And whether that phony background with the flowers and green trees and grass was added for effect or is indicative that this was taped long ago for when "the day of declaring" came, the bottom line is it's PHONY and that's the point - EVERYTHING about her is a fraud. Literally.
One final thought: If she were to lose the election she'd probably pull an Algore and refuse to concede (but for likely a FAR longer time than a month like Algore did).

Thank you ever so much for summing up my fears in one cogent post.
I am hanging my hopes on the fact that Hillary is so polarizing that NO ONE (okay....read into that no woman) would possibly vote for her lying, ass-kissing line of "chat".
Maybe we all ought to charter that cruise ship now.
For I shall surely join Dick Morris in moving out of the country.

She's also burning a lamp in the corner in the middle of the day, wasting electricity.
Do you really think she has any clue when she says, " remove our dependence on foreign oil ?"
How is Hillary going to replace 14 million barrels a day out of 20 ? What she won't say is that Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela are supplying the USA. It's much too important to have the general public as ignorant as rodents and contuinually present sexed up oiltel that claims the Middle East is providing all of our imported oil needs. Democrats spread that lie every day to this day. You ought to be ashamed of them. Rhayes is your friend, think about that.

January 20, 2007 - 23:44 ET by motherbeltDid anyone else notice that the men who announced (Edwards, Obama, Brownback) spoke from strength, with conviction? And Hillary seemed mostly focused on smiling, appearing warm, friendly, etc. Does she think that Americans want strength from a male President but a milk-and-cookies approach from a woman?
Aside from the fact that I think the whole thing looked really fake and forced, why does she think it's important to soften her image with the "let's chat" routine?

Hillary on the Flowered Couch
January 21, 2007 - 15:22 ET by BlondeHer whole announcement (as was her appearance on The View) was a testing of the "Hillary as mommy of the village" theme.
Fake and forced is putting it mildly. Hillary always looks so pained when she's in a situation where she's pretending to be nice.
She's going to explode if she has to keep this fake up for too long. I've been predicting a spectacular meltdown for a while. She won't be able to help herself.
See Mark Finklestein's "Cokie" blog for a link to a video preview of what I'm sure we'll see. Maybe we should start a pool or something.

Hillary's video
January 21, 2007 - 03:07 ET by SportPoliticsWhat's with the slow pan back and forth ? I'm guessing they were on a float. Back and forth, back and forth. Is that supposed to be soothing ? Did they pick that idea up in a round table feelers consulation ?
She's wearing black, and red. Death and blood ? lol Depression and the devil in the red blazer ?
I guess they didn't want to make the pictures on the table seem too obvious. One is? Bill and Hill, the second looks like Mommie longhair looking down on daughter. The third, which they finally show, looks like and older ma and pa and gal in their black suits, maybe.
Of course, she had to blurt one on Bush. Vote for getting Bush out. Makes sense, right ? lol
Since she's there all alone, how is the conversation going to begin ? Seems to me it's a Hillary mouth in.

January 21, 2007 - 08:34 ET by Roger the ShrubberMark, if you look closely at the video, you will see a newspaper on the table behind Ms. Clinton. The date on the paper is "July 18, 1999".
O'REILLY: Less than a minute. Do you think she's going to be elected president here?
MILLER: Well, listen, I read Hillary's book, because like I said, I like to see all sides. And all I remember is I got to that chapter where she said she had no idea her old man was running around on her, and I remember thinking, really? I'm pretty sure you're not smart enough to be my president. Because that is a massive Macy's balloon sized tea leaf that you failed to read there, honey.
So I wish her well, and if I was Obama, I'd keep my head on a swivel, because you go up against the Clintons, like going across the middle on Ronnie Lott (ph). You better stay away, Obama.
