Well, if this isn't a double standard I don't know what is. Wasn't it the MSM who single handedly brought down Foley? Why is there no defense of Foley that the kid he was emailing was just "going wild?" Nope, it's perfectly OK when I see 12 year olds walking around the mall in less clothing on than the hat on my head... We always ask "Where are the parents?" Well, the MSM has evidently assumed that role as well. How arrogant can they be? Then they'll be the first to complain when somebody makes a pass at them. These are the same people leading the charge of the femi-nazi movement among or places of work. You can't even say a woman is dressed nicely with your paycheck attached to it... This makes NO SENSE. Then again, it IS the MSM.

This is just another phase (sometimes permanently) that libs go through.  I can do anythign I want without consequences...   It seems the Kennedy's have been going wild for.. well.. ever.  Thank you MSM for continuing to destroy the fabric of this nation.  Morals?  Who needs those?    I wish misery to spare on you foul people.  ta ta!

While I think that posting racy pictures online is dangerous, I don't think the photos themselves always mean that the girls are "slutty." It can mean that the girl is in charge of her sexuality, and not likely to be swayed by "dudes" looking for action.

Don't get me started on this topic...I have two daughters,12 and 13. Believe me the pressure to look "hot" is everywhere. Try taking a young girl shopping! Thank God the belly shirts are out of style. The look now is longer and layered, but the shirts are all low cut. I go insane with my girls. They come out of the fitting room and I say "No", and they say, "Mom!"

I visit MySpace at least once a week to check up on my girl's friends...you wouldn't believe the crap that is on this site. Young girls talking about sex in ways that make me sick, I won't even go into it here. This is not teenagers expressing themselves this is a World Gone Wild.

Sheila Marikar needs to get her head out of that bubble she lives in and get real. Her statement about "healthy self-image", what a joke. She is saying in order for teen girls to have a healthy self-image they have to pose in sexual ways and get kudos from boys around the Country. She needs to be smacked! Enough!

Thats funny, STDs occurrences are up. I have a solution. How about instead of funding research for a cure for AIDS, we teach abstinence in our public schools. Oh, that's right... we have been. Golly... silly me. Someone needs to slap me up a bit.

As one who has worked with teens for several years in various youth groups and as a youth pastor allow me to say no these these trends are not good at all. So very often the scantily clad are not saying "I am strong and secure" but instead are saying "look at me so that I feel important because I am insecure". Furthermore those girls that wear these clothes and achieve thier desired look (be it 'good', 'sexy', or whatever) further lower the esteem of the girls who can not 'successfuly' wear such clothing because they are heavier or develop slower or whatever. Let us be honest a 14 year old boy that sees a gal in skimpy clothing is going to start objectifying that female.

I could go on but in my experience the trend is not a healthy one.

Talk about your inner conflict...on one hand I'm thinking..."yeah!  more hotties!!" but on the other hand I wonder where these kids will be in 5 years. 

With the advent of Google and the proliferation of sites like these, when these girls go for a job, especially in a big corporation...they WILL be googled and these pics will show up and guess what...

I also find it slipshod of ABC in its flip-flopping vacillation, but then again, they always do that.

This is a perfect example of why the attitude that this is acceptable behavior is just plain stupid. Yes ladies and gents, we're talkin' middle America here - not Hollyweird or San Franfreako.

The most important question one should be asking throughout this article is: where are the damn parents? When I was a teacher 2 years ago, I noticed how every tween and preteen girls I came into contact with in the classroom looked like they'd come out of a Britney Spears video. Who's letting these girls dress like this? All together: parents! Now, I know that some teen girls have a little system where they'll where respectable clothes to school but change into something more revealing when in school. However, there are the parents who just don't give a damn. They are whitless, distracted and I think these girls are crying out for attention. Look at facebook and myspace and all these other social networking sites. They're another facet of what's going on in teen culture where there is no experience with informed decision-making and it's more like "Girls Gone Wild." More and more young girls have no impulse control, talk back, and act out. I should know, I'm one of the teachers that they've talked back to. I wrote them up when what I really wanted to do was verbally slash them with my tongue because I couldn't do my job when their personal drama interfered with my teaching. Until parents stop being permissive, start setting boundaries for their daughters, and present healthy, responsible role models themselves, perhaps these girls won't think it's good to starve and binge and purge. This is also something I know about since I had a mom always on a diet and telling me to do the same thing. She "meant" well but it's better to discuss healthy eating and what the effects are if you don't do it as a young girl. Teen girls are even dating younger. For Pete's sake, I've seen kids as young as 13 dating and it makes me sick. School is for learning, growing up, and preparing yourself for college and life on your own. As a society (which I've tried to separate myself from on this issue), we need to clean up the culture and demand change. It starts with the home and putting a stop to getting your teen inappropriate things to placate them when you know you shouldn't. Our society needs to stress achievement, success, responsibility, respect, and self-respect to our teens whose minds aren't even prepared to handle things like sex and what comes with it. It's all well and good to dress like Britney but do you really want her hang ups and her lousy taste in men?
