It's not enough to embrace defeat in Iraq. The United States should preemptively capitulate to Iran too. That's not Noam Chomsky's latest fevered pronouncement, nor the impassioned plea of Cindy Sheehan at the gates of Gitmo. It is the opening paragraph of a column in this morning's Boston Globe by Robert Rotberg. And who is Rotberg? Former President of Lafayette College, former professor at MIT, now Director of Harvards's Kennedy School Program on Intrastate Conflict and Conflict Resolution.
"The only way to promote sustainable peace, stability, and order in Iraq is to forge an unholy alliance with Iran -- and accept Iran's dominant influence in the Middle East. Only by accepting Iranian hegemonic pretensions, odious as they are, can the United States extricate itself somewhat honorably from Iraq."
In case we missed the point, here's how Rotberg concludes his column:
"Without talking to Iran and coming to a cynical but necessary understanding, Iraqis and US forces will only thrash their way deeper into an interminable quagmire."
Is there no appeasement that some on the American left will not embrace, no surrender to radical Islam it will not rush to accept? Apparently not.

Err, what does she know about military matters.
Where exactly did Generalissimo Hillary serve? Third Mechanized Lawyers Brigade doesn't cut it.
Clearly she would be totally unsuitable to ever be President UNLESS she dragoons her own child into the military right now.
How could she ever be CiC. She simply is not qualified to send men and women to their deaths in any armed conflict.

Let The Defeatism Begin
January 14, 2007 - 13:30 ET by emjem24And it begins. Folks in higher education (not always producing highly educated people) advocating the US bow down to the Iranians. Can these people sink any lower? When I was getting my master's degree in education, I had to read left-wing drivel by people like Noam Chomsky, whose only solution to public education's long-time woes is to tear America down and advocate being less "militaristic," (which is misleading because even the constitution provides for the defense of our country and I don't think that the founders meant a national police force either). Liberals have hijacked higher education and they advocate more communist/socialist standards rather than having any original thoughts. That's why I, as a former educator, worry what's to become of our children when indoctrination is now education and kids can't even think for themselves anymore. This is why many of our kids (and even adults) don't know anything about the constitution, American history, and even their role in the electorate. That's lead to the divisiveness and vulnerability in our national, political landscape today.

January 14, 2007 - 13:37 ET by NL207Where do we find these great thinkers?
Has this man read nothing that Mamoud Ahmadinejad has said about 'conflict of civilizations', wiping Israel off the map, wiping the United States off the map and the return of the 12th Imam leading to the establishment of a Global Caliphate? There are no terms in there we can accept.
Nothing we can do but sink deeper into a quagmire? Rubbish. We COULD pay attention to the source of most of the troubles in Iraq. Most of the roadside bombs these days are being supplied by Iran. Moqtada Al Sadr is an apendage of the Iranians. The Iranians are sponsoring Hezbollah, a well known terrorist organizatin. And last, but certainly not least, the Iranians are building a bomb which thay have declared their intention to use on Israel, who also have the bomb. It would not take more than about 160,000 troops to eliminarte the entire armed forces of Iran and end this noncence immediately..

January 14, 2007 - 14:35 ET by happyuscitizenI too wet my finger like Herr Rotberg to see which way the wind is blowing.....nah not really that is just silly, plus I would have to kick my own a*&!.
Rotberg's epiphany as a matter of foreign policy should be given as much credence as the opinion of Carter's pal Zbigniew Brzenzinski commenting in the Washington Post the other week that Bush's new plan will fail.
Not like the assertive power projecting foreign policy of the Carter Adminstration that brought the Ayotallahs to heal and think twice about tussling with the United States......Oh wait Ziggy and Jimmy's passivity lead to what the US is dealing with in regards to Iran, again leading to pontifications ala Rotberg.
Again the libtards are abundant in their criticism but vapid in their solutions.

It's basically a anti-mullah, anti-islamist, pro-Persian website. In the "letters & blogs" section they will link to pretty much anyone that writes about Iran. I've seen them link to Conser. Voice, Frontpage etc and they will also link to Huffnpuff as you can see. So I wouldn't try to judge them just on that. It's also a good site to read about the oppression taking place in Iran and destruction of pre-Islamic history that goes on in Iran. Something we rarely hear about from the msm. And they have some good columnists. My favorite being Bahman Diba-PhD. I would recommend people visit it at least once or twice a week to get a different perspective.
