Carlson Raps O'Reilly for Condemning Keith: Except He Didn't [Video]

As we noted here, when Andrea Mitchell appeared on The Factor last week, Bill O'Reilly confronted her over NBC's leftward tilt. Andrea not only denied any NBC bias, she also vouched for CBS' and ABC's fairness. For good measure, Mitchell claimed that Chris Matthews is no liberal.

Tucker Carlson fired back on his MSNBC show this afternoon. The gist of his argument: that in attacking Keith Olbermann, O'Reilly was actually promoting the Countdown's lefty host. There was only one problem with Carlson's theory: O'Reilly never mentioned Olbermann. Not once. I watched the Factor segment live, wrote about it, posted a video excerpt and - just for good measure - have gone back and checked the closed-caption transcript and can confirm that not only did O'Reilly not mention Olbermann, he never so much as alluded to him or his show.

But that didn't stop Carlson from arguing:

  • "It comes after years of needling by Keith Olbermann. Olbermann has set out to drive Bill O'Reilly crazy and apparently he's succeeded."
  • "If year after year you're being needled, so Keith Olbermann is starting to get under his skin, aren't you wise to resist, and try to ignore it, and not take the bait?"

Tucker's guests were recruited into the argument. Jonathan Alter needed no arm-twisting. After calling O'Reilly an inflated "blimp" "who's so full of it, it's coming out of his ears," Alter opined that "it's going to help Keith, I think it's great for Countdown."

Even the admirable Colonel Jack Jacobs was drafted, so to speak, into the argument. The Medal of Honor winner observed that

"it is great news for Keith and for MSNBC."

View video here.

What's great? Not being mentioned by Bill O'Reilly? Alter and Jacobs were presumably taking Tucker's word for it, proving that it's a risky proposition to comment on a segment you apparently never saw. But what's Tucker's excuse?

Apparently...

Keith himself tried to make this claim... I guess this group got the "fact" from them.

I guess you don't have to be a victor to write history any way you want it.

I guess you don't have to be a victor to write history any way you want it.

Yep, it does appear that the losers now get to write the history.

I expect Saddam's reputation to be rehabilitated very soon. Newsweek's Christopher Dickey has been trying that.

I posted Tucker about this; be interesting what his reply is. He's a pretty straightforward guy in terms of trying to present accurate information.

"MSNBC - When We Don't

"MSNBC - When We Don't Like the Facts, We Just Make Up Our Own"

Logic

I saw the segment. Olbermann was not mentioned. But even if he were, Carlson is misreading the entire discussion and attributing a motive to O'Reilly that doesn't exist. He was simply presenting a reasoned argument and asking why the bias is there. He had to apologize because Mitchell was in over her head and was stuttering like a liberal fool. Looks like Carlson is just another dumb "journalist" who can't even correctly interpret what he sees with his own eyes.

NEVER,NEVER trust a liberal

Mark, this claim is from O'Reilly's comment abuout 'MSNBC'

Mark, this claim is from O'Reilly's comment about 'MSNBC'

I'm sure of it.  In the segment Bill says something that alludes to the 'guys' over at MSNBC/NBC.  That's gotta be what they are jumping on.

It's a typical Liberal trick.  It's funny.  Very Liberal to choose from the context and the conversation some allusion that they can 'turn' into what they want people to 'hear' rather than what was actually said.

If you pay attention (as I know you do) this happens all the time on this site.  Most of the time it is done quite crudely as the Liberal posters don't have the 'professional' training the Liberal MSM people get at Liberal 'U' or wherever they get training.

I'm not surprised at all.

See my other posts on this.  O'Reilly 2.5 plus Million to Matthews 424 thousand last week.  Pretty sad.

In the segment Bill says something that alludes to the 'guys' over at MSNBC/NBC.  That's gotta be what they are jumping on.

Yep, I think that's what they're trying to milk. And they're clearly trying to run with it as far as they can.

O'Reilly has repeatedly said that he doesn't care about MSNBC because "nobody watches that mess" (or words similar).

It is pretty pathetic that in order to get ratings the clown Olbermann has to try and bait other hosts.

And he (and MSNBC in their promotions of the show) calls himself a "news anchor" and Countdown a "news show."

It's a pretend news show and you're a pretend news anchor, Mr. Olbermann.

And please don't get me started on Jonathan Alter, the former media critic of Newsweek. Right, Alter a media critic. Gee, aren't we surprised that during his tenure he didn't find much evidence of a liberal perspective affecting news reporting? (fish aren't aware of the water they swim in either).

Fact checking the M-mess-NBC-

Fact checking the M-mess-NBC-way.......
I'm sure Tucker and Krazy Keith will issue an apology immediately.
The Hollywood gossip shows have more creditability then the NBC/M-mess-NBC "news" departments.

Well KO and MSNBC have been

Well KO and MSNBC have been baiting O'Reilly for 3years to comment on Countdown and he hasn't fallen for the bait even though KO names Bill one of the Worlds worst persons every night...so now their just going to flat out lie and try to claim he's talking about KO.

This is part of a plan by MSNBC their in the basement in ratings FOX lead by O'Reilly is on top and the only way they can hope to get viewers is try to get FOX to talk about their shows by doing and saying outrageous things..thats why we get all those Bush bashing "special comments" by KO and why all the MSNBC news host like Tucker attack O'Reilly.

The world still waits for Kra

The world still waits for Krazy Keith to name a terrorist or terrorist organization on his "Worst person in the World" list!!!???!!!

But remember Krazy Keith is NOT a liberal......LOL!!!!!
He is a straight shooting tan-man that names Ratings King Bill and Rush to the WPITW list almost nightly.

Long ago, as a young lad, I was shopping with my grandmother when she expressed harsh consternation with a store clerk and quietly refered to him as a “ninny”. Being a curious sort I asked her later “Grandma, what’s a ninny?” She said “it is someone with a simple job or task that cannot seem to do it properly. Don’t ever be a ninny.” Tucker Carlson would qualifiy if Gram could see his work.

MSNBC has the bases covered: The Political Hack; The Demented Clown: The Ninny.

Sad that they have audience they do.

Tucker Just Tuckered Out

This guy is such a sell-out it's not funny. He's become irrelevant by shilling for MSNBC but then that's nothing new. The other sad thing about this idiot is that he's a shameless self-promoter. I bet Washington really misses him. I wonder if he trully realizes how washed up he and Keith Odd Man Out are? Even when Bill O'Reilly doesn't recognize the greatness of Keith's muddled sports/news journalism, Tucker takes him to task and changes the truth to make it "look" like O'Reilly is sweating over the competition. Is this goofball for real?

The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer.  Air Force Motto

Carlson should be careful at

Carlson should be careful at MSNBC.  They only want stupid or mean conservatives.  They have a stupid one in Scarborough.  Now Carlson's producers are probably feeding him wrong info.  I emailed him and warned him to leave that station or to insist on his own producers and the same budget as Olberman.  I did that about 12 months ago.  I would guess Olberman gets 3-4 times the budget that Carlson gets.  Remember the stiff they made him have on the show with him nightly in the beginning.  He/she (i could never tell) was a real extreme lib.

Well, I commented earlier as

Well, I commented earlier as this was going on live on open thread or somewhere....Tucker saying Fox actually had some 'intelligent people' working at Fox was absolutely hysterical coming from an a$$ kiss like Tucker who has sold his soul for msnbc, after-all he has nowhere to go but down after this gig.....at least he will be going on the buddy-plan with his so-called fellow conservative, Scarborough.....what a pair of clowns....too bad they joined the enemy within's circus.

LOL!

I'm surprise this hasn't been mention but Don Imus ripped into KO and MSNBC friday...and he did used KO name no doubt who he was talking about...

Only two words come to mind when giving Carlsuck and his network the "benefit of the doubt" on this topic:

Oh, please.

Carlsuck wouldn't make a serviceable flatulent gas absorber in O'Reilly's studio chair.

Tucker Carlson,

Forgive me, but Tucker Carlson is nothing but a stooge for MSNBC, as is Scarborough. Both profess conservativisn, but that is pure bull. Surprising that Carlson couldn't get his facts straight, and to think that Jacobs took the bait is really messy.  But keep in mind that these four jokers are all on MSNBC's payroll. As for Alter, he is a real suck-up to anybody that will listen...he was on the Imus show this morning, but never changes, as a Bush hater, and kiss ass to anybody that will listen. Matthews is a punk..Now that I have that off my chest, time for Bill O'Reilly and the FACTOR- Fair and Balanced...

Boon to Ratings

Those idiots at PMSNBC think that if Bill O'Reilly even makes a faint mention of Oberman it will help Oberman's ratings. Oberman spends minutes of every show talking about Bill.  He must be the one that really helps O'Reilly's ratings.  To me it just comes of as jelousy that he doen't have 20% of the veiwers O'Reilly has.

"Tucker Carlson fired ba

"Tucker Carlson fired back on his MSNBC show this afternoon. The gist of his argument: that in attacking Keith Olbermann, O'Reilly was actually promoting the Countdown's lefty host. "  No the gist of his argument was BOR attacked NBC and MSNBC because of the constant attacks by OLBERMORON. TUCKER CARLSON ""It comes after years of needling by Keith Olbermann. Olbermann has set out to drive Bill O'Reilly crazy and apparently he's succeeded."   The other 2 idiots he had on advanced the theory that BOR attacked KO.     I will say tho, that all 3 were giddy as hell.  It's clear that the MSNBC game plan is to harass FOX and their top man BOR. KO is their top gun at this. BOR will not mention him because he knows that is what he wants. Lets face it OLBERJERK  would get on anyone's nerves with his constant lying and petty attacks. My point is this. When BOR says everyone at NBC and MSNBC. You know he means OLBYCLOWN also.   Carlson  was making the point that KO was getting to him. He and his cronies think thats helping their ratings. I think O'Reilly's point, that their catering to the left for that audience, is more correct. I really hate OLBERMOOK and like O'Reilly. And to be fair, the way I saw it was the guests of Tucker Carlson were the ones advancing the lie not Carlson.

Whenever I click the remote o

Whenever I click the remote onto MSNBC, all I see are prison documentaries. When are these jerks like Matthews et al. on? Couldn't be garnering much viewers if their shows aren't being rerun after 8pm EST or whenever. Fox News reruns their primetime shows.

When are the GE stockholders going to protest the low ratings of MSNBC?

BTW, O'Reilly had a brief segment tonight about NBC working in anti-Bush-administration comments into their primetime shows, like ER. Showed a segment where a character was dissing Rice and it had nothing to do with the plot.

Au contraire Tucker (Mmm, I

Au contraire Tucker (Mmm, I wonder what HIS nickname was a school, but I bet it began with a F....)

I watch O'Reilly regularly - though he's way to lefty for me -- and I cannot recall Bill EVER mentioning Olbermanniac.

In fact, I think "T"ucker is projecting here.

Despite Olbermanniacs two years of nonstop attempts to goad Bill, he has NEVER responded, and that is driving MSNBC and its inmates insane.

So much so that there are hearing voices. But it's all their their empty pointy heads.

Sounds like Tucker is delusio

Sounds like Tucker is delusional.  Is it time  for  the men in white coats to come and get him?

Tucker?

Isn't Tucker Carlson the erstwhile dancer who used to play a conservative on CNN's Crossfire?  Sort of the Washington Generals of conservatism. He isn't a real conservative, he just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.
