Reporter to ‘Idol’s’ Lambert: ‘Are You Bi-Curious?’

  • Bookmark and Share

Adam Lambert of American Idol gave his first interview to ABC's 20/20 last Friday night. The main subject of the interview was Lambert's homosexuality. Lambert explained that, "It's surprising because I don't think twice about, for example, my sexuality. I've been living this way the whole time I've been here in L.A. for the past eight years. It's a funny reminder that not everybody is as comfortable with it as I am."

After a surprising loss to Kris Allen, Adam Lambert has managed to stay in the spotlight. Throughout the competition Lambert's sexuality had been debated and discussed relentlessly, and he has made the most of it. Lambert explained that "It feels really good cause I think there was a lot of speculation and talk ... And it feels really good to just kind of state the facts and move forward. Not keep wondering about, what does he do, you know? With whom?"

This unburdening came complete with a picture of Lambert kissing another man.

To finish the interview, reporter Chris Connelly asked "What message do you have for those women [who are attracted to you] now that you're declaring your sexuality?"

"Well I think that sexuality is universal. If something is attractive to you, it's attractive. Sexy is sexy."

 "Are you bi-curious?"

"I would never give myself the label bi-sexual, but bi-curious, yeah. I've been known to make out with girls from time to time. A couple drinks involved, you know. It's fun. And who knows, maybe it will go further some day. I don't know. Who is the lucky woman? I don't know."

The phrase "Too much information" comes to mind.

Definately too much information

Lambert is exceptionally talented and I do enjoy watching him sing and entertain.

I naturally assumed he was gay and really did not care one way or the other.

This focus on his sexuality and fantasies are unnecessary and, frankly, could hurt his marketability to a broad audience.

It may hurt marketing to the

It may hurt marketing to the younger audiences, but the 18 and over crown shouldn't be affected.  We've had openly gay musicians and performers for decades who have gone on to huge success (think Elton John, Ellen Degeneres), and I can't imagine this kid won't be fine.  Of course, he's a flavor of the month created by a talent show, molded into what they can market, so we'll see what happens.  I guess fronting Queen makes perfect sense at this time.  Let's just hope he's a little more careful than Freddie.

It's Really Stupid

I really don't care what two consenting adults do behind closed doors.  Whatever trips their trigger so to speak.  I just find is disgusting that reporters have to ask stupid questions like this.  It's nobody's business whether or not Adam is gay or bisexual.  If Adam wants to shout to the world his  own sexuality then "go for it".  But, Zoe said "it's just too much info". Why does everything have to have some sort of twisted sexual connotation.  Adam's an excellent singer and to some girls/guys I suppose he's considered handsome.  The MSM sensationalizes everything.  Don't they have better things to do/report on?

Well yes they do...but most

Well yes they do...but most of the time it's to make Obama look good.

This was not needed...

I don't care what two people do behind closed doors. I don't agree witht the gay life style but I don't condemn anyone for being gay. That is their business not mine. I don't disclose what I do with my wife.... What I don't like is the need for the media (and other groups) to put it out there like it is the defining characteristic of the individual. They throw it out there and then get annoyed when people disagree with it. Well if you don't want other peoples opinions...stop putting it on the public stage.

Somone's sexuality should not be a topic of discussion..but libs need that because it gives them another protected class to pander too.

'I don't disclose what I do with my wife'

Such a revelation would be considered disgusting.

This guy is Idol's breakthrough, only a matter of time before he destroys all earnings records. Lambert is so talented he can 'walk onto' an existing professional band. Why waste time making albums? His rival winner will earn the minimal $2M and die.

Adam has the ability to interpret music and rearrange it to define his translation. It is not the normal cut and paste approach.

Plain and simple this is music talent. Can he market his ability or will he sink?

My money is on him.

DAILY WAVE

When people fear their government there is tyranny.

When government fears the people there is liberty.

I agree with his talent...

but his sexuality has nothing to do with that. But that is what the MSM is fascinated with, his love of men not his talent.

Move on MSM, move on.

American Idol?

Sheesh, normally I don't whine about the stories here like some six-week newbie, but American Idol?

Who cares?

Oh, I know, all of the brain-dead zombies who follow this pap, but seriously....on NB?

I hope he fails, too.

meee tooo

I agree. I've lost interest in all network shows.

Tingles had been known to

Tingles had been known to make out with girls from time to time, too.

But that was a long, long time ago.

I'm so tired about . .

. . the 'I don't care what they do in private.' attitude. With that comment, people are condoning this awfulness. They are in effect saying it's okay as long as they don't see it.

These people are reprobates! (Romans 1:26) (ie., morally depraved)

Two Can Play That Game

Throwing Bible verses out is totally unproductive and meaningless because even if you are a Christian you should know God gave us all free-will and it is only HE that can judge us.  Here's a few for you:

"Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Mat 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Mat 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

Again, I neither condemn or condone Adam's sexual choices and it is not MY place to do so either way.  That is left up to Adam's on conscience and the judgement of a much higher power.

I humbly suggest you do the same by keeping your own house in order and not passing judgement on others when you are not in any position to judge nor did the Bible give you that right.

And one last thing...You sound like a really nice lady and I'm really sorry about you losing your husband 25 years ago.  I am also a cat lover and have an authentic Japanese short hair.

FYI, my brother died about 20 years ago from HIV (AIDS).  He suffered a long drawn out series of numerous infections and illnesses that saw a strapping young man decimated to almost nothing.  I knew him all of his life and although he wasn't perfect he was one of the sweetest, giving, caring, generous, loving people place on this earth and certainly not evil.

Judging Sin

My understanding is that one had better not judge, IF YOU ARE DOING THE SAME THING, because we will be called into account for that as well. So, the Bible says she does have the right to judge. It does not  mean she is being judgmental.

"Too Much Information" indeed.
