Why Did MSNBC Edit Hillary’s CFR Speech?

  • Bookmark and Share

On July 15, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared before the Council on Foreign Relations, the much maligned organization often at the center of many global conspiracy theories.

We won’t talk about the merits of the CFR itself, here, but what made me curious is the treatment that MSNBC gave the Clinton speech. It appears that MSNBC edited out Clinton’s opening statement thanking the CFR for having her. When reading what she said at the outset of the speech one might become suspicious that MSNBC was trying to provide cover for the Secretary of State whose comments opened her up to the tongue wagging of conspiracy buffs.

Here is how Hillary began her remarks (my bold):

“Thank you very much, Richard, and I am delighted to be here in these new headquarters. I have been often to, I guess, the mother ship in New York City, but it’s good to have an outpost of the Council right here down the street from the State Department. We get a lot of advice from the Council, so this will mean I won’t have as far to go to be told what we should be doing and how we should think about the future.”

Oopsie. If one were a conspiratorial minded sort, one might find Hillary’s claim that the Department of State needs to be told what to think by the Council on Foreign Relations is a bit shocking.

The State Department has helpfully recorded the visit and the video can be seen on its website (for now that is, booga-booga). Right there on the government website, one can clearly see this opening paragraph being uttered by Hillary Clinton. Also, I embedded the video at the end of this post for your enjoyment.

A full transcript of her remarks can also be seen on the government site on which the opening segment is transcribed.

Yet, the video of Clinton’s remarks featured on MSNBC has mysteriously been cleansed of the assertion that Hillary needs to be told what to think by the CFR. Her opening remarks have been excised, struck, boldly eliminated by her pals over at MSNBC.

One has to wonder why? Why was Hillary’s praise for the CFR cut by MSNBC? Was the cable newser trying to spare Clinton the wrath of the anti-CFR conspiracy theorists out there?

Hurry over to MSNBC and watch the video before the space aliens, or the Bilderbergers erase it forever. Wait, maybe it was the Rothchilds… I always get them all mixed up with the Masons and the Jesuits. I think they started the 9/11 attacks, didn’t they?

Well, anyways, I certainly have no answer. Do you? Whatever the reason MSNBC decided to silence those CFR lovin’ words, I find it all rather amusing as well as curious behavior on MSNBC's part.

Speaking of widening gaps...

It seems to me that the remark being dissected is probably just Hillary’s ham handed way of trying to be humorous.  It could be as much as anything a simple and direct result of how clueless or totally unconcerned she about how the CFR is regarded in flyover country.

Slogging on through the next few of her paragraphs – BTW wouldn’t it be fun if we could watch the text of her teleprompter as she is reading it like an automaton? – I was struck by her cant disparaging “a widening gap between the rich and the poor.”  The instant she of all people, addressing this particular group of abstractionists, spoke those words I had the strong impression she should have been disparaging the widening gap between the elite and the poor dolts “we try to serve”

- Relying upon the MSM for your information is like relying upon an embezzler to manage your portfolio.

I watched five minutes.

She was speaking for five minutes and the only thing she said that could actually be verified was that we were in two wars and she was a former First lady.   Everything else was just the same old Obama non specific ,generic rhetoric where you think you have an idea of what is being spoken about but it dissipates like smoke.   Typical Obama/Clinton speak.

Hey Janet Napolitano...I'm proud to be a Right-winger.

MSNBC is just doing as they are told

Either by the DNC or the CFR. Doesn't matter unless you're detail oriented.

Throw 'da bums out!

And how's "that advice" being taken by the "I WON"

"We get a lot of advice from the Council, so this will mean I won’t have as far to go to be told what we should be doing and how we should think about the future.”

While it's quite possible the Hillmeister was giving the CFR a good ribbing on their level of influence, how much real weight do they carry with American policy?  If there's no money or power-sharing involved, what's the motive?

As far as MSNBC's concern, they edit out anything that's distasteful to their liberal agenda.

Rovin

MSNBC is spoon feeding

MSNBC is spoon feeding information as usual.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

This mishape obviously

This mishape obviously occured because MSNBC is already part of the CFR's new world order but the current gov't is part of the Bilderberg's new world order unlike the previous administration which was part of the Skull and Bones new world order.  We should be happy though that the Illuminati's new world order is gone because they sucked.

They could have edited

They could have edited out the whole thing and nobody would have noticed.

It must be frustrating for Hitlery to be so close to power and not have any.

Hillary..

Hillary will run against Fidel Obama in 2012. He's toast already....

Who is zooming Who?

Maybe MSNBC still sees Clinton as a threat to Obama.....they're not far off the mark :)

The CFR telling Clinton what to do. That explains the road these people are taking US down. And all this time WE thought they were listening to US.

GE-RCA-NBC executives and board members

Could it have something to do with the fact that many GE-RCA-NBC executives and board members are also CFR members?

The CFR has never hidden its advocacy of globalization, regionalization, and other more incremental steps toward the centralization of economic and political power, e.g. multilateral environmental and economic "agreements".   As an aside, the CFR boasts a membership that is astoundingly well connected to political and financial power centers.

Needless fear

The CFR has never hidden its advocacy of globalization, regionalization, and other more incremental steps toward the centralization of economic and political power, e.g. multilateral environmental and economic "agreements".   As an aside, the CFR boasts a membership that is astoundingly well connected to political and financial power centers.  And you know something?  Let them advocate ALL THEY WANT.  For in the end, this pack of whiners and pencil-necked geeks could not successfully conspire to take over a phone booth, much less the world.

Take it from one who looked into joining them briefly.  And if you still don't buy that, get a copy of Foreign Affairs and you will see lots of references to "we need to TALK", "we need to ENGAGE", blah blah blah.  You don't get anywhere doing that all the time.

"CONSUMED DEMOCRACY RETURNS A SOCIALIST REGIME" - Slayer, "Fictional Reality", from Divine Intervention (1994)

MSNBC was so deep in the tank for Obama that they were drunk and

drowing in it in my opinion (especially Chris Matthews):

It is definitely Chris Matthews by far in my opinion!

I am not the least bit surprised by this because the liberal media (which largely consists of MSNBC) was to a very large degree responsible for Hillary Clinton's primary loss to Obama which I have credibly documented over a long period of time:

There is NO question in my opinion of anti-Hillary media bias...

Because of this, I laugh my head off every time that I hear Keith Olbermann or anyone else on MSNBC complaining about Obama now:

Keith Olbermann and many others in the media CANNOT complain about Obama now!

'Countdown with Keith Olbermann' for Wednesday, June 17
Read the transcript to the Wednesday show

Guests: Eugene Robinson, Rachel Maddow, James Risen, Joe Solmonese, Richard Wolffe

KEITH OLBERMANN, HOST: "Here are the issues I've disagreed with the president on: on White House transparency, on Don't Ask Don't Tell, on prosecuting torture, on investigating the Bush administration, on military commissions, on the speedy withdrawal from Iraq, on eavesdropping, on the Defense of Marriage Act on earlier in this show, this token treatment of same sex partners of federal employees.

These are cases in which I have used the phrase "the president is wrong" or, "Mr. President, you're wrong." And that's just my show, to say nothing of Rachel or Chris's or Ed's or the day-time programming..."

Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, and everyone else in the media who were in the tank for Obama in my opinion have forfeited ANY right to complain about Obama right now when they were doing far more cheerleading for him during the 2008 election than they were asking him the tough questions.  As far as I am concerned, they are getting just what they deserve when they complain about Obama and hopefully they will learn a valuable lesson from this when it comes to how they cover future Presidential candidates (though I strongly doubt it)!
