**Video Below The Fold**
The folks at Powerline realized the implications of an outrageous news clip featuring NBC's Tom Brokaw conducting an interview with the Obammessiah. Apparently, this hard news journalist thought he'd get deep and ask a pertinent question about Israel, the Palestinians, and just what it might be that the Jews can learn from Obama's visit to Buchenwald and how they should treat Palestinians and stuff about Nazis or something.
Seriously, what sort of historical ignorance does it take for someone to ask what Jews can learn about Buchenwald from a guy that has never visited the place before now, never had any intimate or even cultural connection to it, and wasn't even alive when it was a Nazi terror to the Jewish world? I mean, is Brokaw insinuating that the Jews did not learn anything from their own "visit" to Buchenwald?
And what sort of insensitive fool does it take to imagine that Jews have any new "lesson" to learn of Buchenwald that it has yet to learn? And how is it that Obama can be their teacher? The thought of it all is ludicrous.
But, let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? The singular point here is that Tom Brokaw just implied that Israel is treating the Palestinians just like the Nazis treated them! That is the true outrage here.
And I have to give President Obama credit for being smart enough not to take Brokaw's bait, too.
Transcript
BROKAW: What can the Israelis learn from your visit to Buchenwald? And what should they be thinking about their treatment of Palestinians?
OBAMA: Well, look, there's no equivalency here.
Of course, the proper response would have been to force Brokaw to more clearly make his point and then to ridicule him for being an idiot right on the spot. But, we can't expect Obama to scold his lapdogs too harshly, I guess.
If you don't want to endure this insufferable man (I know, which one, right?) scoot ahead to about 4 minutes into this journalistic tour de force.

Brokaw: Jews Just Like Nazis
June 5, 2009 - 16:30 ET by deerjerkydaveWhat Brokaw is saying is that Israel is treating Palestinians like the Nazis treated the Jews. Brokaw is implying that the Jews never properly learned their lesson. His question was designed to get Obama to publicly agree. It is a brainless question and shows how far left Brokaw really is.

I have to be honest...Obama is better than the Holocaust Denier in Tehran, by default. At least he had the class to acknowledge that there was in fact a holocaust, but I am not sure if he is aware that it could very well happen again.
Anyone who doubts the holocaust happened is totally insane.

Read Brokaw's question and ask yourself what kind of mindset or presuppositions could
have produced such a question. To ask a question like this reveals an ugly
distorted sick view of the world. I am not sure if on his worst mentally imbalanced
day Keith Olberman or Bill Mahr could have spewed such garbage.
The logic is something like this. Someone breaks into
your house and murders one of your children. You buy a gun to protect
your family and some anti-gun fanatic asks you didn't you learn anything from
you child's death.
When listening to the Main stream media the question that keeps
going through my head - Are they incredibly evil or just incredibly stupid?

The Jews have held Palestinians in internment camps for ages and there's real evidence that they've been enacting vengeance for the Holocaust by conducting similar mass executions by way of gas chamber.
Huh? They're not doing that? But I thought... Oh, nevermind...

Connection?
June 5, 2009 - 16:40 ET by jasperjavaI'm not sure what you mean when you say that Obama has no "intimate or even cultural connection" to Buchenwald.
As I recall, his maternal grandfather - a man who helped raise Obama - was one of the American G.I.'s who helped liberate the camp. That's a pretty close connection, if you ask me.
Please don't let your hatred of Obama denigrate what the troops acheived during World War II.

June 5, 2009 - 17:01 ET by nixonMaybe My recollection is somewhat hazy . But I believe that the Big O claimed that it was His Uncle ,and that the Camp was Auswitz . In which case His Uncle would have had to have been a member of the Red Army .
great uncle
June 5, 2009 - 17:43 ET by DontFeedTheTrollsYes, his great uncle, and his great uncle just did an interview stating that he never told Obama any such thing, because it didn't happen. Hesaid he was at Ohrdruf and never spoke about it to Obama. Once again, Obama has the facts wrong in order to make him look good.
Knigge: Buchenwald made the horror visible. This place
reawakened the world's conscience. It also made it clear to American
soldiers, once again, why it was necessary to wage this war. Later on,
the photos and documentary films that were made here helped shape our
historical memory, particularly after 1990 when East Germany came to an
end and the West gained unrestricted access to Buchenwald once again.
To this day, every major historical exhibition in the United States
begins with images from Ohrdruf and Buchenwald.

Germany. We had never talked about that before. This is a trip that he

their country to be taken over and run by extreme radical types. I'm

Re recollection
June 5, 2009 - 17:46 ET by slickwillie2001No, it's the Bamster's memory that was hazy. First he said it was Uncle and Auschwitz, and then the story gradually changed to Grandfather and Buchenwald, and then to a satellite camp of Buchenwald.
If this is material out of one of his books, he might have had to check in with Bill Ayers to clarify.

Sad
June 5, 2009 - 17:13 ET by jaywlThe reason Brokaw has degraded into a parody of himself when he did ask questions that should be answered is the old saw about believing your own press releases. He thinks his next question is his next profound, insightful, searing inquisition that is always better than the last, or his last good question ten years ago. Old athletes, old movie stars, old anchors: don't any of them know their best is past. Not that scumbag Dan Rather is an ideal, but Brokaw should watch the latest clips of Rather in a crumpled trench coat reporting from the sidewalk outside the UN while today's young things interview beaming diplomats inside. Does Tom want to join Dan on my fantasy sidewalk? Sad to see even if I think they have been less than ideal newsmen.

June 5, 2009 - 22:56 ET by stunnedtired of liberal lies
Any Republican who lied about a relative's role in liberating a concentration camp, much less the President would be hounded by the MSM for the rest of his or her's short career. Obama is a disgrace and the only thing more pathetic is the media ignoring the story. His uncle on the other hand like any true combat vet I've ever met told the truth about his experience in war, if he speaks of it at all, because by not doing so sullies the memory of friends who never came home. Obama with his lies has no qualms about exploiting his own uncle or those long dead heros for his political benefit. My only question is why did not one reporter every call up and confirm the uncle's story since Obama screwed it up during the campaign?

June 5, 2009 - 23:31 ET by RR GOPQuite a quandary. On the one hand, the occasional Hollywood or TV gorefest inspired by the Holocaust is good for business, placates Jews, and vilifies white Europeans (especially those on the far right).
On the other hand, the Jews are evil for their treatment of the Muslim brothers in Palestine, because they are such a peaceful people and all.
Must really suck to be a Liberal sometimes and not know whom to hate the most.
No, I'm not happy with the treatment of Palestinians in general either, but they have brought a hell of a lot of it on themselves. When they get a square yard of dirt to themselves they set up a rocket launcher aimed at Israel. I cannot blame the Israelis one bit for defending themselves.
One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

June 6, 2009 - 10:42 ET by CobraMan"What can the Israelis learn from your visit to Buchenwald? And what should they be thinking about their treatment of Palestinians?"
Well,Tom, they learned not to trust those who claim that there can be peace with the people who intend to destroy them all. They're thinking that I believe that there can be peace with those who intend to destroy them all. So, I guess they learned that they really can't trust me and they're thinking that I'm more interested in looking good to the Palestinians than protecting their lives. I hope that answers your question, Tom.
