The L.A. Times is reporting that CNN's star talker Anderson Cooper has seen his ratings in a steady decline all year. It's so bad that MSNBC's Keith Olbermann is starting to gain on Cooper's numbers for the first time ever.
MSNBC is still at the bottom of the Cable barrel, but with Cooper's plummeting ratings, MSNBC is suddenly looking competitive.
Cooper's ratings have been in a sharp decline all year, and so far the month of May is no exception. According to Nielsen, the audience for the 10-11 p.m. hour of his show so far this month is 933,000 viewers. This is the first time he's fallen below the one-million mark since the dog days of last August. Anderson is losing almost 20% of his lead-in from Larry King and is in danger of being passed in the ratings by MSNBC's 10 p.m. repeat of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann." Since the start of 2009, Cooper has lost one-third of his audience.
Ouch. It must be frustrating for a supposedly legitimate news guy like Cooper to be responsible for making a raver like Olbermann look like an up-and-comer!

While CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, NBC and PBS all vie for the ratings lead with the 50% of the country who lean liberal (to one degree or another), FoxNews has the conservative 50% of the country virtually all to themselves. It's not so much that FOX News is ultra-conservative, as that they usually cover both the liberal and conservative sides of an issue and they do have some anchors and correspondents who are openly conservative, unlike almost all of the rest of the networks.

May 12, 2009 - 08:13 ET by Red Jeep…had better numbers than Anderson at 8:00 Friday, May 8, in the 25-54 demo, 146,000 to 131,000 for Anderson at 10:00. (How do you keep a network going with numbers like that?). Every show at 10 and 11 beat his in the 25-54 demo.
Maybe too much David Gergen and teabagging did him in.

Look at GE getting paid back for all the support NBC and MSNBC gave Obama during the campaign. You can lose a lot of ad revenue * at the bottom when you get those kind of handouts at the top.

The missing logic and total lack of ethics in their programming is astounding and the bias unlimited. They are the leaders of Mr. Obama’s electronic propaganda ministry (But CNN coming on strong) the New York Times still lead its print section.
The personalities on the MSNBC lineup is better than Saturday Night Live in the 80’s. John Balushi could not have thought up so foolish and stupid a character as Keith (What is ethics?) Obermann. Cooper Anderson how can you possibly get a more non-person? His personality is like wet cardboard, there, but not much used. Maddow, talk about the bride of Frankenstein, some networks hire women that look good to try and capture the audience attention. MSNBC fail badly at this. The rest of the cast of nobodies have no training in journalism, or they forgot almost every thing they were ever taught, or too inexperienced to see their careers and reputations in the toilet. Spent 15 minutes listening to these clowns is the best comedy on TV.

That's when we (US military) were enforcing the United Nations stuff... Something all those rabid loyal Democrats and Liberals forget, that men and women died over there on Clinton's watch.
I though he was a young, brash and entertaining as well as a semi-decent (not overtly biased) journalist. What a mistake that was.

He made a good career start at CNN with tremendous potential, but he was not able to put his personal politics and sexual identity aside in doing his job. It's a shame because CNN desperately needs to bring back some journalists with gravitas and balance.
PS: At this point they might realize letting Aaron Brown go was a mistake.
