AP Feels Sorry for Mexico Over Drop in 'Money Sent Home' By Returning Illegals

  • Bookmark and Share

I suppose the Associated Press wants us all to feel sorry for Mexico. With so many illegals here either having trouble finding work or actually returning home, Mexico is finding that its citizens illegally in the US have fewer American dollars to send home. AP says the "situation is so serious" that the Mexican government is trying to create new programs to reinforce ties between illegals here and its citizens at home. Of course, no where in AP's story does it seem to occur to anyone that Mexico clean itself up and offer opportunities there as opposed to trying to squeeze money from people here.

The whole story is reported as a legitimate economic issue instead of the thievery by illegals that it really is. The AP sternly informs us that as the "economic crisis worsens" Mexico finds that the money sent home is at "record lows." And we are treated once again to the euphemism for this theft of American dollars that is doled out in every such story. The AP calls this sending of American money back to Mexico a "remittance revenue stream," as if it is some sort of legitimate economic matter. It's a great way to gussie up the word "theft," isn't it?

The truth is that the Mexican government is trying to undermine our nation yet the AP treats this as if it is just an average story.

The AP says the situation is "serious."

The situation is so serious that in September Mexican President Felipe Calderon visited Mexican immigrants in New Brunswick as the last stop on his way home after speaking at the United Nations.

No, AP, what is "serious" is that instead of instituting reform for its people, Mexico is relying on sending them by the millions illegally into other nations so that they can then send foreign money home to Mexico. THAT is not a serious economic policy!

But, instead of addressing the corruption in Mexico, what are the Mexicans doing?

The Mexican government has been preparing for the scenario with initiatives aimed at solidifying ties to their communities abroad; especially with the U.S.-born children of Mexican immigrants whose allegiance to their homeland weakens with each new generation.

And the AP is reporting this as if it is a real policy instead of a criminal enterprise! What’s with the “their communities abroad”? Mexico has no “communities abroad” as if this is a legitimate program!

Of course, the Mexican government is doing its best to stop Mexican ex-pats from assimilating in the US and elsewhere by sending Mexican supported operatives out to convince its citizens abroad to still act like Mexicans.

The institute supports education and cultural programs for Mexican immigrants and their families in the U.S., including Spanish classes, a program that sends Mexican teachers to U.S. districts with a shortage of bilingual educators, donations of Spanish-language materials to U.S. schools and libraries, and literacy initiatives for adults.

Other programs are aimed at the children of immigrants -- many who may not have been to Mexico -- that include sponsoring soccer tournaments, cultural programs, youth exchanges and academic scholarships.

Sadly, the US government allows this cultural sabotage to enter our nation and short circuit the assimilation process. We should be shutting this foreign sabotage down, not allowing it to become an entrenched institution in our midst.

In any case, this entire story is treated by the AP as if it is a seriously legitimate program instead of the theft that it is.

Don't worry, Mejicano Criminales!

the lord king obammy has a new "superplan" that will save two groups: the unions that paid for his seat and the illegals needed to do the seasonal work!

(Not to mention Asian steel and Chinese computers for a couple schools)

See? change!

Along with...

the Great AZ ex-guv Napoli-Reno turning her head so she can't see them pouring over the AZ border she so badly protected.

Hey not to worry

Obama's WPA for illegals to the rescue.

Is that really the one we were loking for? You mean, that's it, the vaunted, highly advertised, mystery solution to fixing the econmomy is build a road. I bet that took some serious brainpower.

I honestly don't even know

I honestly don't even know what to say any more.

The implication that we should sympathize, instead of telling Mexico to solve its problem within its own borders, just boggles the mind!

Don't be surprised

Don't be surprised if "That One" uses some of the bailout money to subsidize these illegals so they can send more money home.

"If we conservatives moved to those seven non-existent States, the government couldn’t find us and tax us to death!"

have you ever met an illegal?

As usual, i feel i must act as the conservative voice of reason...look i am troubled by illegal immigration too, but, having met a number of illegal immigrants, i was shocked by your use of the word theivery....surely, and informed reporter such yourself is aware that illegals mexicans often work over ten hours a day, for less then minimum wage.  in fact, i would have to say that they are the hardest working ethnic group in Philadelphia.  Call it what you will, but it is not theivery, surely.

Sorry, Mr. Voice of Reason,

Sorry, Mr. Voice of Reason, but the fact that they are the hardest working ethnic group in Philadelphia doesn't erase the fact that they are here illegally.

Call it what you will, but it is not theivery, surely.

OK, we won't call it thievery.  What should we call it?

I also wouldn't consider it

I also wouldn't consider it thievery. On an individual basis, the illegals are putting in the effort to acquire wealth and use it as they so choose.  I'll poorly relate this to drug dealers. Both are earning their wages illegally, but not without putting in the effort. On an individual basis, they are exploiting rather than stealing. On a national basis, it's also an exploitation that our flimsy laws and enforcement have allowed. In a way, we are giving foreign aid to the country in a very informal fashion.

Picnic

That has not been my experience with the illegals and their families that I encounter in my line of work. Not to say some aren't as you report- although the basic issue is that they are ILLEGAL.

The men almost always  have two "families"- "wife" and children in Mexico and another "wife" and children here. Then there are the "girlfriends" with whom they inevitably create more children. The families here avail themselves of every government (and privately) sponsored program they know about- "welfare", Medicaid, WIC, HEAP, food banks, clothing banks, Special Education services, etc. The men work hard when they want to, make about twice minimum wage "off the books", don't pay taxes, yet get tax refunds somehow using falsified SS cards and documents, drive without licenses or insurance. Driving under the influence is the norm. Domestic violence and sexual contact with minors- often relatives- is commonplace. The men typically hoard many, many THOUSANDS of dollars in cash, ever-ready to sponsor relatives crossing borders and making their way up to New York (including costs of buying falsified documents), going back to Mexico at will to visit family and bring lots of US dollars with them.

Not to mention Mexican gang violence and their illegal "business" transactions. Yeah, they sure are "entrepeneurs".

I see "thievery" all the time, one cannot be an illegal alien without being a thief on so many levels. The federal and state government, local law enforcement, social service agencies, hospitals, schools courts, etc all look the other way.

And what do people like

And what do people like these Philadelphia illegals get that we, the citizens, don't get? Maybe a short list would help:

Medical care, to the tune of billions of dollars per year, supported by The federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) http://www.theameric...

Or in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, such as Massachusett's Gov. Deval Patrick is again supporting as part of his Readiness Project, the education reform plan unveiled in June. "...for me it's just a matter of simple justice," Patrick said http://www.dailynews...

How about Spanish translations on every single product in stores such as Lowes or Home Depot -- because the we don't want these illegal idiots to learn the English language?

They also receive Medicaid, K - 12 education, school lunches, Aid for Dependent Families, Food Stamps, and a host of other benefits (tranlators, legal representation, etc). In some cases, they receive public housing. If you don't believe me, just ask Obama about his aunt. http://rightwingnews...

The Mexican government has

The Mexican government has been preparing for the scenario with initiatives aimed at solidifying ties to their communities abroad; especially with the U.S.-born children of Mexican immigrants whose allegiance to their homeland weakens with each new generation.

Trying to convince children of immigants who were born and raised in the US that they are actually Mexicans?  Good luck with that.   Sounds like an old secret Cold War program where people were experimented on to erase their memories and new memories inserted.

Taxes all paid?

Certainly the illegal aliens have paid the taxes on the money they "earned" to send home.  They have all paid their "free" hospital bills, paid back the schools for their "free" education, and the food stamps and the WIC program.  All traffic and criminal violations have been paid.  Right?   They have raped America and now the gravy train has slowed down the hobos are jumping off.  The Feds are unbeliveably weak and I'm to wonder who the heck is representing American citizens.  Thanks a bundle Uncle Sam.

I yam what I yam....Popeye.

excellent point, Salute

The gov't should charge a large transfer tax to every Western Union money transfer to Mexico.

That's the only way we can recoup some of our tax money.

And...

And it should be a 50% tax, too.

Sheesh!!

Notice you don't hear much about the failed war in Mexico, worse than the quagmire in Iraq, 4000 dead just this year, including some of their (journalists) brethren. The MSM?

<queue crickets chirping>

D

Keep the ILLEGALS out, join NumbersUSA to send free faxes to your reps.

Can we send them some of

Can we send them some of our MSM as replacements?

The Joy of Diversity

Children of illegal alien torture and kill a kitten with wire from a video game:

http://www.azcentral...

I love animals, and find this quite upsetting. But I'm not a vegetarian, and it's not the same as hunting for food, as anyone can see. But what do you think the odds are, that radical feminist Gail Collins

http://newsbusters.o...

would refer to these "vibrant immigrants" as  "kitten murderers" as she referred to Sarah Palin as a "moose murderer?"

This whole issue...

makes me sick. I live in Tucson

Everyday I see my money going to the illegals through 'feel-sorry-for-us' social programs that seem tailored for border-crossers from all countries.

I don't give a rat's patooty what ethnic background they may be. I'm sick of seeing money that's supposed to go to Americans going to support illegals from all countries, including Mexico. This money includes healthcare, welfare, Social Security, in-state tuition, etc. Our own Native-American hospitals spend more money on illegals than they do their own people.

Not long ago, a woman was picked up by the police with over $8K in a bag. Turns out she's illegally here, gave birth in AZ and collected the kids' SS money.

It's getting so bad here that many people can't get jobs unless they're bi-lingual.

I'm also sick of NY reporters thinking they know everything about the crisis, when they don't.

Good-bye Napolitano! Don't let the cactus hit you on your way out!

Sorry to rant...
