Naturally, the U.S. media is following the terrorist crimes in Mumbai, India, as well they should. But, the attacks seem to be the Old Media's only interest where it concerns India and Pakistan, of late, for they've completely ignored the several mistakes that Barack Obama has already made with his attempts at foreign policy with the two embattled nations.
Back on November 11, I noted that Obama had made his first mistakes with both India and Pakistan by mishandling early talks with their leaders (or not having them at all, as the case may be). During his first major effort to contact foreign leaders as president elect, Obama called Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari but neglected to call India's Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. This short shrifting did not sit well with the Indian government.
Then, Obama appointed to his transition team a woman named Sonal Shah whom the Pakistanis say has ties with a violent Hindu Nationalist Party in India that they claim is responsible for a rampage in Gujarat, India that killed many Muslims and Christians.
Worse, during his outreach to Pakistan's Zardari, Obama promised that he'd help settle the trouble between India and Pakistan over Kashmir and he did this without asking India if his help was wanted by India. As a result, India got its nose out of joint and immediately said that Obama's "help" with Kashmir was not wanted.
Well, more on Obama's unwanted offer with the Kashmir problem has been reported by various Indian and Pakistani news agencies. An Indian official has reiterated that Obama's help with Kashmir was neither asked for nor wanted. External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee refused Obama's offer again at a recent press conference held with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The Indian Express news group reports that on Wednesday Mukherjee "shot down US President-elect Barack Obama’s suggestion that former US President Bill Clinton could prod India and Pakistan into making peace over Kashmir."
The remarks were also reported at KashmirWatch.com.
On Jammu and Kashmir, Mukherjee rejected any third party interference, when asked to comment on the reports that the US president-elect was moving to appoint Bill Clinton as his emissary to settle Kashmir issue. "There was no question of the intervention of third party. Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan. It is part of composite dialogue process," he stressed.
These are some embarrassing stumbles on India and Pakistan and shows that Obama won’t be able to flash his dazzling smile and have the world's leaders just fall at the feet of The One happy to follow his policy ideas.
Curiously, I can't find this news reporting Obama’s thus far failed attempts at diplomacy in any American news source. Why do you think that is?

Why? Because it is common knowledge he was adopted by his step-father, Soetoro, in Indonesia as a child, a formal renunciation of his former citizenship by his mother.

Last week a caller into the Washington Journal brought this subject up and the guest Alexis Simendinger from the National Journal I think it is, said it was IRRELEVANT and the host Greta something asked "What does it MATTER?"

I think they are hoping it will all get swept under the rug and then if they haven't reported it at all there will be nothing to follow up on and they can just pretend that it was all a bunch of "nutcases" who hated him so much they were grasping at straws. When I first read about this, I was already pretty deep into reasons why Obama wouldn't be good for the country, and I followed the story with hope that something of this magnitude couldn't possibly be ignored for long, and that once there was proof that the birth certificate was a forgery or that there were actual lawsuits that we would hear about it in the more mainstream news outlets. When nothing was reported anywhere (except here and WND) I began to wonder how that could be. That is about the same time the crazy set in. Now I am just a ranting, drooling, nutcase. November 28, 2008 - 18:16 ET by sherylsimsI don't have much HOPE that anything will CHANGE but I do have this great fantasy where it is decided he is ineligible to run and the electoral college doesn't produce enough votes for him and poor little guy sitting there in his "Office of the President Elect" in front of his "Official Seal of the Office of the President Elect" looking at Michelle with confusion and saying, "Uh... umm... No Honey, I don't know why they won't let us live in the white house... maybe because they are all RACISTS..." and then Michelle beating him over the head and making him pay for not giving her the life she so richly deserves.
I think perhaps that is part of why they keep harping on Sarah Palin's lack of "qualifications" just in case the electoral college had to go with the "second runner up" and she ended up in the White House after all. My fantasy life is rich and full, but I doubt any of it will happen that way.

And really, the REAL
November 28, 2008 - 19:06 ET by sherylsimsAnd really, the REAL question is: Say they deem him ineligible, what happens then? Do they go with the second runner-up? Or would it still be a Democrat? (like, Hillary?) Or would they have to do the election all over again? Since nothing like this has ever happened before, and since the Democratic party is partly responsible by running an ineligible candidate they really should just have to forfeit. (Like THAT would happen...) Imagine if it were given to McCain and Palin after all... There would be no END to the uproar we would hear from the people who said that BUSH stole the election twice. It won't happen. Warner is right. He is our president and we just have to get used to the idea. Yuck

Considering Obama’s close ties with Odinga, the Scourge of Kenya, we should expect more of this kind of “Hope and Change.” In fact this may be among the reasons the hopeless media decided that this development was not newsworthy.

I wonder if deficiencies in Obama admiration and worship will be instrumental in dissolving foreign relationships in the future administration, and also what role the media will play effecting such changes. This may not auger well for all those foreign affairs problems – all Bush’s fault, natch – that Obama is expecting to dispel with his supernatural diplomatic skills.

Whatever the correct decision is or isn't I think they will not take the case for fear of massive unrest. I think they'll measure safety against the eligibility factor and come down on the side of safety.

Not only that, but 75+ years of ignoring the Constitution have finally come home to roost.

You know what bothers me with this riot problem, there were implications there would be riots if O didn't win the primary, then once again if he didn't win the election...I say so the hell what...we can handle that all if we WANT to.
This is America dammit...we are supposed to go by the rule of law... especially the CONSTITUTION.
Oh but hey, don't let little matters like that get in the way, the left want a LIVING Constitution...and we are seeing this happen now.

Well, the only reason I
November 28, 2008 - 20:24 ET by sherylsimsWell, the only reason I still hold out ANY hope over this issue is because of how things went for Bush when it went to the courts for him. They followed the law and BOY were the libs hopping mad. But maybe they will do the right thing again, who knows. Someone (I think it was here, and maybe it was Clingingtogunsand religion) said that the Supreme Court is very jealous of the constitution and would not be afraid to enforce the law even over the presidential situations. I mean, talk about POWER. They can't ignore the weight of the situation. They know half the country will know they didn't follow the law if they don't. (The other half may not be bright enough to know, or they will know but not care.)
sheryl... I would like to
November 28, 2008 - 20:38 ET by bigtimersheryl...
I would like to say hope springs eternal here... but I just realistically can't.
If memory serves me since Thomas has taken this up, I think he needs four to be with him for this to go to the whole court...(I think, I have a real bad cold/flu thing going so I am super lazy today, I should go back and reread one of my many links I have saved from others and my own that I have posted about this) I know possibly he would have four, but five...who left would do that?
Ideas anyone .... Kennedy or very iffy with Stevens IMHO.

Yeah, well actually I had
November 28, 2008 - 20:48 ET by sherylsimsYeah, well actually I had already come to terms with Obama as the prez (as much as will ever be possible for me) so, of course, this is all fantasy and speculation on my part. I have a firm belief that everything that is happening now is part of a greater overall plan of which I am just an interested specatator. When I pray, I no longer ask God to do what I think should be done as much as I ask Him to make me ready for whatever it is He is doing. I do agree with you though. I don't really think anything will come of this either, but I am glad that at least someone is bothering to take it to court. It would be worse if it were ignored altogether.
i agree, bt!!
November 28, 2008 - 20:25 ET by clinging to my guns and my religionas i wrote above, it would be much better to have riots because a usurper was not allowed in office than to have riots to get a usurper out of office. beforehand, the military would still be on our side. afterward, can you imagine the poor soldiers having to decide? wow, what a horrible thought!!!

Calling a spade a spade
November 28, 2008 - 20:47 ET by needleI agree with you, Warner.
I think that the same fine institution that decided that Dred Scot was slave, despite the just and obvious reasons for recognizing that he should not be a slave, will come through and display the same kind courage – er, I mean expediency -- as they did 150 years ago, and shirk their responsibility to sustain the meaning and purpose of The Constitution and call a spade a spade.
I wonder what Chief Justice Roberts will be thinking when he swears in the next President and asks him if he will uphold and defend The Constitution.
Oh, yeah. And about safety. Yeah, the Supreme Court has sure shown a lot of concern about the safety of 50 Million dead babies. Yeah, they are indeed safely dead.

I posted your link you gave me above again...it is one of the best on this subject...also gave you the h/t you so richly deserve too...
Now on to Roberts swearing in O...I really do not know how any real conservative could do that, one who is suppose to uphold the Constitution, if I was him, I would call in sick, assign the job to the wonderful ACLU defense lawyer Ginsburg.

It kills me that Obama's
November 28, 2008 - 20:53 ET by islero47It kills me that Obama's supposed to "restore" America's international standing. More like take it down several pegs. Maybe Europe will hate us less, but it looks like everywhere else will be looking at us like a punch line.
Looks like a brutha can win the White House, but can't diplomacize...
